People don't see Divine Providence at work because they aren't looking for it.

A couple of weeks ago, the Europeans passed a law requiring the labeling of products made in Israeli "settlements" in the hope that people won't buy them and the loss of revenue will bankrupt the people living in those areas. (European Commission Adopts Guidelines for Labeling Products From Israeli Settlements)

Who could have foreseen then that Turkey would shoot down a Russian jet and open up a new market to Israeli products? (Russia: No Turkish imports, we will import from Israel)

Sometimes though, it takes a bit longer to see how the Creator manages His world. Seventy-five years ago, the democratic enlightened western nations closed their doors to the Jewish refugees from Hitler's Europe. (The Abandonment of the Jews) When Judgment Day arrives, they might have claimed in their own defense fears from some imagined dire consequences.

However, we see how when there are a similar number of non-Jewish "refugees" who present - not an imagined, but - a clear and present existential danger to their host countries, nothing, not even self-preservation will deter them. (Coming soon: More immigrants from Muslim nations than population of D.C. — 680,000) What will be their excuse now???

  1. As children growing up in London, we would regularly get comments like 'Jew boys,' and worse, because we were a bit different. In London today it's hard to find any English people, or to hear English spoken. Has anyone else noticed this 'mida keneged mida'?

  2. Hashem works mamash, Mida Kneged Mida. Here is some information about the Bermuda Conference where the nations came to only one conclusion -- not to take in Jewish refugees.

Sounds REMARKABLY SIMILAR to Turkey's outrage and subsequent animosity towards Israel after the "flotilla" episode 5 years ago. (i.e. severance of military cooperation, economic sanctions, spiteful support of enemy terrorist regimes - all for the failure to "apologize" over having to resort to military action after repeated warnings had failed.)

If you spurn Yaakov - you might just have to deal with Eisov's animosity instead.
