How Much Longer Will Moshe Ya'alon Be Defense Minister?

18 Shevat 5774

The Defense Minister is treading on politically treacherous ground right now. His days as DM may already be numbered.

Yaalon Rejects Kerry's Security Arrangements Proposal

Defense Minister Yaalon said over the weekend that Kerry's security arrangements proposal for the Jordan Valley are unacceptable, "Drones and sensors are no substitute for the IDF presence in the Jordan Valley. We will not abandon our security to a third party. Our presence is required there for the long term."

His appointment was no doubt a concession to Likud members without whom the Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu could not become Prime Minister.  But, this man is being too honest and straightforward for the politicians. And the US will assuredly want payback. If the DM's words were an accurate reflection of his boss's position it might be another matter, but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. After all, who appointed Tzipi Livni to be Israel's Chief negotiator with the 'Palestinians' and the Americans?

Tzipi Livni who...

As a member of Ariel Sharon's cabinet, "was an avid supporter of the prime minister's disengagement plan, and was generally considered to be among the key dovish or moderate members of the Likud party."

"Became the first Israeli cabinet minister to explicitly differentiate Palestinian guerrilla attacks against Israeli military targets from terrorist attacks against civilians."

Who "won the Kadima leadership election by a margin of just 431 votes (1%). Palestinian peace negotiators were reportedly pleased with the result."

Who "has been received warmly in the Gulf, and that she is the leader most Arabs want to see as Israel's next prime minister."

Let's put the myth of "hard decisions" and "painful concessions" to rest once and for all. Whatever they want the outcome to be was decided long ago and the current PM was complicit.  The only thing being "negotiated" now is how best to pull the wool over the sheep's eyes.

  2. Devash, can you explain WHY? This is what puzzles me the most. Bibi doesn't seem like a completely evil person or a complete moron either. But his actions make him look like he must be one or the other or both. Why would he want to take us down the road he is taking us down which according to nature could destroy not only the rest of us but him as well?

  3. The only explanation that makes sense to me is a scenario where the US recruits a likely candidate to be their inside person. He is groomed and placed and built up over time to take the position where he will carry out the wishes of his masters. Part of the ploy requires him to act one way and be another. He's just acting a part. He has no fear of being "destroyed" because his 'retirement' is assured. Maybe a nice villa in Europe. Maybe in Hawaii. Who knows?

  4. There is one more and very likely explanation. Kerry and company are threatening Bibi in private with going along with Abbas's plan to pass worldwide Boycotts, Divestment, and economic Sanctions against us using the UN Sec. Council. This would effectively destroy Israel economically. So in Bibi's faithless mind who seems unable to turn to G-d under these circumstances, he is choosing the lesser of two evils.

  5. Just As I thought, these negotiations, in Netanyahu's mind, are nothing but a delaying tactic to build and build and build. He has mastered the art of delay and obfuscation.

    Negotiations going nowhere

I also don't like Netanyahu's tactics. They are full of deceit, and he puts fig leafs like Barak and Livni in his coalition in order to deceive the Umot HaOlam that he cares about their brand of pieces processes. But give the guy some credit. It works. It is painful to watch me'echazim get destroyed and murderers released, but in the existing yishuvim, he is building like crazy. 200 homes are going up in Kochav Yakov as I write this. The first phase of 60 new homes is well underway. You can also tell that they hate him...Ask Sarkozy and Obama why they hate Netanyahu. He is a snake that out foxes the other snakes in the world. Of course we desire a proper truth-teller to represent the Bnei Yeshurun, a guy who is as straight as an arrow. Netanyahu is simply not that man. And yes, Kerry will likely try to force something, and boy will he threaten. So then Bibi might cave....It is just that time to take on the Umot HaOlam or resign. He will likely have to choose.

  6. Dov, is that also why he gave away Hevron? If he can't stand the heat, he needs to get out of the kitchen! This is his third term as PM. There are no surprises here.

  7. Sorry, one last thing: Netanyahu's ability to obfuscate, delay, and outmaneuver people, albeit in a deceptive way, is being used by HaShem to bring on the famous nine months of Rome "controlling Eretz Yisrael for 9 months" that is in the Gemorrah and Micah HaNavi, b'Rachamaim. Instead of murdering thousands of Jews for nine months, Rome is forcing us to release 104 murderers over the course of nine months. So in Shamayim when the angels ask, what happened to Yerushalayim being "captured by the Umot HaOlam for 9 Months", HaShem will point to these nine months of pieces negotiations and prisoner releases with Israel getting nothing in return except for delays. So By Peasch 5774, the Geulah can REALLY begin with the 9 months already behind us.

  8. I agree, the moment of being straight and telling the Truth has arrived. If he can't start doing it now, he should get out of the kitchen. His obfuscations and delays will not work if Kerry makes his announcement before the end of January into an ultimatum... something that is very likely to happen, G-d willing. It means we have arrived if that is the case.
