Three fast days are observed during the month of Teves, commemorating three calamities which befell Israel - on the eighth, ninth, and tenth days of the month. The fast days of the eighth and ninth are referred to as "fast days for the righteous." On these days, only individuals fast, whereas the fast on the tenth of Teves is a public fast for the entire community.
The fast of the eighth of Teves commemorates the day when the Torah was translated into Greek at the order of King Talmai [Ptolemy Philadelphus]. The Sages (Soferim 1:7) note that the day on which the Torah was translated into Greek was as calamitous for Israel as the day on which they made the golden calf, for it is impossible to translate the Torah adequately.
...In Megillas Ta'anis, the Sages described the event in the following way:
On the eighth day of Teves, the Torah was rendered into Greek during the reign of King Talmai, and darkness came into the world for three days.The fast of the ninth of Teves commemorates the deaths of Ezra the Scribe and Nechemyah, who faithfully led Israel during the return from Babylonian captivity. When they died, the people of Israel were devastated, for their loss was irreplaceable.
The fast of the tenth of Teves is a communal fast, for on that day, Nevuchadnetzar, king of Babylonia, began the siege of Jerusalem during the time of the first Beis ha-Mikdash.
It really looks like we are headed into a very dangerous period which may bring with it more days of calamity. Hashem yerachem!

Iran's backing of Houthi attacks on commercial vessels must cease.The US Secretary of Defense declared the formation of a multinational force to safeguard Red Sea trade post Houthi attacks. The force boasts members such as Bahrain, Great Britain, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain, and the USA. Notably missing are Arab nations, particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, known for their historical conflicts with the Houthis. As of now, Bahrain stands as the sole representative of Arab countries in the multinational force.

This was the Founding of the State of Israel with the Israeli flag being raised in Jerusalem (Ness Harim). It says LIKE a shofar blast because for all the potential Good it was, the State was founded by the Erev Rav. But the first pasuk is now history.
So is the 2nd pasuk. The Vilna Gaon pinpointed that the ingathering of Russian Jews in Yirmiyahu would take place in 5750 and 5751, 3/4 of the way through the 6th Millennium and would fulfill Isaiah 27:13.
יג וְהָיָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, יִתָּקַע בְּשׁוֹפָר גָּדוֹל, וּבָאוּ הָאֹבְדִים בְּאֶרֶץ אַשּׁוּר, וְהַנִּדָּחִים בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם; וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהוָה בְּהַר הַקֹּדֶשׁ, בִּירוּשָׁלִָם. {פ}13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great ram's horn shall be blown; and they shall come that were lost in the land of Assyria, and they that were dispersed in the land of Egypt; and they shall worship the LORD in the holy mountain at Jerusalem
Also now part of history (except for the part about bowing before HaShem in the 3rd Temple.) Not included in the Vilna Gaon's prediction here was the ingathering of Ethiopian Jews in Op. Shlomo and Sheba in May of 5751 which is indicated as the HaNidachim b'Eretz Mitzraim. But the ingathering prediction of the Gaon came true right on schedule.
The mysterious 3rd pasuk where G-d Himself blows His personal Shofar:
יד וַיהוָה עֲלֵיהֶם יֵרָאֶה, וְיָצָא כַבָּרָק חִצּוֹ; וַאדֹנָי יְהוִה בַּשּׁוֹפָר יִתְקָע, וְהָלַךְ בְּסַעֲרוֹת תֵּימָן.14 And the LORD shall be seen over them, and His Arrow shall go forth as the lightning; and the Lord GOD will blow the ram's horn, and will go with stormwinds of Yemen*
Chaza"l have always said that the real Start of the World War 3, the Final War was the beginning of the last phase of Final Redemption.
Dear Dov, If you took my "Hashem yerachem" to mean I view it as a "tragedy" then you were mistaken. I agree that it is redemption, but that does not mean we are not still in need of great mercy to be able to survive it all.
DeleteWhen I heard that the anti- missile missiles that Israel was using against incoming Houthi, Yemenite missiles were called Arrows, I sat up and took notice, and now I am anticipating something any day. When I read that one of these Arrows became the first example of a missile to take down another missile above the earth's atmosphere in world history, I began to anticipate something every hour. And now that they are sending a multi-national force to the Gulf of Aden and the Strait of Mandeb, I am looking for something any minute. To show how little they care about our fate and that they are all Reshayim, they gave it the name "Operation Prosperity Guardian". There is only one value in their, Edom's, heads: MONEY. They all should be destroyed... except the leader of Bahrain. He is actually taking an existential risk siding against the Persian Nazis. Just look how close his kingdom is to Iran. I actually see in him some merit.

According to What's Going on With Shipping? https://www.youtube.com/@wgowshipping the problem is with the US Shippers. They make more money going around Africa because there are less ships in route and each ship makes fewer round trips, so they can charge higher rates. Also they do not want the higher insurance rates. The US Military knows this and is doing every thing to free up this bottleneck.
