"The Long and the Short of It"

14 Tevet 5784

The situation in Eretz Yisrael looks very uncertain right now and the situation in chutz la'aretz also appears very uncertain right now.  How is a Jew to decide where it's best to be?  Leaving any arguments over whether it's a mitzvah to live in Eretz Yisrael aside, there is a future in Eretz Yisrael.  There is no future for Jews in chutz la'aretz.  What we are suffering from in Eretz Yisrael is the pains of birth - the birth of the messianic age.  Chutz la'aretz is suffering the pains of a slow death.

I'm anticipating a potential move to Phase 2 in the next few days.  We're waiting for the fighting in the North to become much more serious.  We'll get there.  Wait and see.

  1. Now located in the North, I have been very surprised that the town where I live has not had any sirens for weeks. Inland and closer, along the Lebanese border, there have been sirens and incidents. For weeks, until recently, I was receiving messages from the City via WhatsApp about the explosions heard being from IAF strikes against Hezbollah targets, presumably trying to take out as many launch sites as possible. Airports were also hit, to prevent landing anything from Iran, supplies, and presumably troops. All of this is public information. No secrets posted here.

The beaches were closed at night. They are not closed anymore.

I am very surprised that we have not have more incidents along the coast in the North. Glad, but surprised. Things do seem to be percolating, though.

  2. Chas Veshalom. May we finally welcome Moshiach today. We’ve had more than enough suffering for Am Yisrael.

  3. Amen to Yael.
We are participants in the geula process, not bystanders waiting for more serious fighting, chalila, with all that that entails. Words have power. See Rav Ginzburg on how to kill a terrorist with words.

    1. In the same way that we "participated" in the first redemption from Egypt. Think about it. We lost all of our chances to merit redemption early. Failure after failure! Now, HKB"H is bringing it Himself, b'ita, to stop the unbearable desecration of His name. Our suffering will be "enough" when He deems it enough.

How do you think we are going to conquer all of Eretz Yisrael unless the fighting intensifies. Better to get on with it than drag it out like this, IMO.

Too many people are disconnected from reality.

    2. Because we're hoping for a miracle. That Hashem will fight for us. For those of us with loved ones on the front lines....
