  1. It is urgent for every Jew in America to come to Israel, whether or not it is officially aliya. Rav Kanievsky shlita, is not "just" another rabbi, but gadol hador, and has been calling for emergency aliya for some time. And it is even more urgent for every haredi Jew to do so, as they are the most easily identifiable as being Jewish and bear the brunt of the antisemitism.

Regarding practicalities, there are thousands of airbnb apartments standing empty as there are no tourists. Anyone who has an Israeli passport must be urged to return immediately. Anyone who wishes to come and can't go through the aliya channels should come and make aliya later on from within Israel. The haredi parties should be enjoined to use their clout to fast track this aliya. Even if new arrivals have to be quarantined in the negev for two weeks, at least they will be safe.

Why would any right-minded Jew be wanting to hang around to see just how bad, chalila, it may get?

I've heard people say, it's not the first time there's been race riots in the US, even that "race riots are as American as apple pie". But they are missing the point: the Pittsburgh attack, coming as it did in close proximity to the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht was the turning point for American Jews. Since then violent and verbal antisemitism has soared, then the pandemic, race riots and mayhem, over 40 million Americans unemployed, and on its way automation and AI (causing even more unemployment) and the looming threat of war with China, Iran, the more the merrier.

Always remember this if you're Jewish: (some) black lives matter (unless of course you're killed by a bro) and Jewish lives matter very little at all, if at all.

  2. Were the "riots" the US kristallnacht or the start of the "Bolshevik Revolution"? Either way it is a sign.

    1. They say that old generals fight the previous war (you know sending the cavalry to face tanks). So too the Jews. Each new round of oppression does not follow the same format as the previous one.

Pittsburghnact was the turning point for America Jews, the end of an era. Coming as it did close to the 80th anniversary of kristallnacht, was a pretty clear sign from Hashem. (It can't happen here became it can happen here, and finally it is happening here). The woke target too made it clear that it was for all Jews, not just haredim. Tragically, for the most part the Jews did not get the memo. I am not saying this with hindsight, but it was what I wrote at the time. Amongst other things, I wrote that people should make aliya now, as there may not be flights in the future. It was obvious to me, but I am an intuitive person. And now when I think of Jews in America, I literally feel sick in my stomach. Jews have to come home. A mass aliya is going to have to be organised for all the extra flights that will be needed, and to assist all the Jews in vulnerable situations who have neither the physical health or financial capability to do so themselves. In Israel we recently spent billions of shekels on three rounds of elections. I don't understand economics, but I do know that whenever money is needed the state magically finds it. Now too, it will have to find the billions it needs to facilitate this aliya. Ultimately it will be good for the economy as it will provide work for both Israelis and for new olim. Spiritually, a mass aliya of the haredim will hasten the geula, Be"D only besorot tovot.

    2. Poway, pittsburgh and monsey were the kristalnacht of our generation.
The current matsav is a mashup of the red vs whites in the russian revolution and the german KPD vs the Nazis in the wiemar period. We havnt even started to see many mass protests by the nazi side
In america yet. But we will. There are millions of americans itching for a "race war". To the communists we are class enemies. To the nazis we are race enemies. The USA of old is not coming back.
Yidden start making plans to go. Its not "can it happen here?", its "when will it happen here?".

    3. I believe it to be much more urgent than that. It's not when will it happen here, it is happening here (there). It is not for nothing that NY Jews, the largest concentration of diaspora Jews, have been amongst the worst hit by both the pandemic and the riots. The Shechina has left the exile, and spiritually this is a period of great instability. Who knows exactly what will happen next and how soon that may be. This is not the time to "start making plans" but to simply leave. Some American Jews are getting it, but I fear that the vast majority (over 70% are currently polling for the democrats, highly unlikely they are interested in leaving), and amongst the approximately 1.2 million who are Israel orientated, we will be lucky if a double digit percentage leave now.

  3. But US tourists as well as other countries are not being allowed into Israel now. Only Israeli citizens are and aliyah is not immediate. There are problems with trying to get all papers necessary with certain offices closed like getting a criminal record stating there is none. There may be limits of how many Jews can come on aliyah each month as well. Jews who wish to come are already stuck and need to scream out to Hashem to help and let them come!! The fact that people can't come readily is such a HUGE sign that as a whole we must not want it enough. We are not crying and screaming out loud yet from our suffering. How much more will it take? Hashem does not want to give us more suffering, He just wants us to wake up out of our slumber and scream for Him and to send Moshiach!

    1. https://israel.travel/covid19/

"Tourists looking to travel to Israel:
At the moment, and until further notice, entry to Israel will be refused to non-citizens or non-residents of Israel arriving from anywhere in the world. In exceptional cases, one may apply for approval of the Foreign Ministry subject to proof of the ability to remain in self-isolation for 14 days."

I still say move forward. Come as a tourist and make aliya later on from within Israel. Find an airbnb apartment preferably with a garden or balcony at a good price, for at least a month, (but don't close on it just yet) there are thousands standing empty right now, apply to the Foreign Ministry for approval, with details of apartment, get approval in writing of course, pay for apartment, and in the meantime get everything ready. Bring some food with you for first few days, and when here you can order online.

And keep on davening. "hayipalei meHashem dvar?" (Is anything too hard for Hashem?)

As for not wanting it enough, the vast majority of American Jews tragically still don't want it at all and are too involved in proving their worthiness for Some Black Lives Matter and rebuilding their looted shops as they are there to stay. A minority percentage have finally woken up, and I hope that with all the difficulties it is not too late.

    2. Since writing the above or below, I spoke with a friend whose father is a very well known Israeli speaker about public affairs, with his finger on the pulse, so to speak. She told me that he says that there it is currently possible to make aliya. I would try both approaches (formal aliya and my suggestion) and see what comes through first. And bear in mind that it is possible to make aliya from inside Israel.

  4. Curious to know how one can press relatives who are not Israeli citizens to even renew their passports in order to leave their whereabouts in Galut?

It seems those who want to make Aliya would be stuck looking after those unwilling to leave, yet does the fact they have not renewed their passport make any difference if they are still married to those who were born in Israel?

    1. To my knowledge, no one can travel anywhere without a valid passport. US citizens have to use their US passport to enter or exit the US. Israeli citizens have to use their Israeli passport on entering or exiting Israel. Israelis who are not dual citizens have to have a visa to enter the US.

  5. Elisheva - serious question here. I am here in USA and do not have any visa/permit to enter E"Y. I'm not crazy applying for citizenship - however - if I were to apply today - would there be any way for me to enter E"Y before complete citizenship/Aliya is approved? I do not want to wait until everything is in order. I'd leave today - if I could.

  6. To Ms. H: An American does not need a visa to enter Israel. You just need your passport.

  8. Anonymous @8:03 - Aren't foreigners banned from entering now? I'm confused with your response.
    Please advise.
    Thank you so much!
