Approaching Av - Intensifying the Pressure

Gaza flareup: 3 Israeli troops injured in heavy firefight triggered by armed Palestinian infiltrator

A pre-dawn exchange of fire erupted in the Khan Younes area of southern Gaza on Thursday, Aug. 1 when an IDF patrol intercepted a Palestinian infiltrator who opened fire on the troops, injuring three. ...The Palestinian shooter was killed in return fire and Israel tanks shelled Hamas positions. ...a large IDF force retaliated with massive strength against Hamas including aircraft and naval vessels which battered southern Gaza from the sea. Civilian locations were placed on alert and soldiers deployed at key points and blocked roads in defensive posture.

The fighting flared just hours after the IDF wound up a four-day exercise for drilling its response to a sudden outbreak of hostilities from the Gaza Strip that would coincide with fighting on the northern border. Summing up the exercise, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Avivi Kochavi said the IDF had attained a high level of preparedness but warned the troops not to be lulled or deceived by the relative calm of recent weeks and to stand ready for the situation to change suddenly at any moment.

We Just Witnessed 3 Major Developments That Could Easily Lead To Global War

...I believe that we have reached an absolutely critical juncture in our history.

Let’s start with a stunning new development in the Middle East.

Even though most Americans do not realize it, Israel and Iran are already shooting at each other. Israel has been striking Iranian military targets inside Syria for months, but now the rules of engagement have apparently changed, because in recent days the IDF has started conducting airstrikes against Iranian targets inside Iraq.

...The political protests that have made global headlines in Hong Kong in recent weeks have greatly angered the Chinese government. They were probably hoping that the protests would quickly subside and soon be forgotten, but that hasn’t happened.

Crackdown Coming? China Gathers Forces On Hong Kong Border Amid Unrest

...If Chinese forces start pouring into Hong Kong, the Trump administration is going to throw a fit. Relations between our two nations are already the worst that they have been since the end of the Korean War, and the situation in Hong Kong could potentially push things over the edge.

...On top of everything else, North Korea just fired two more missiles into the ocean.

...The North Koreans are greatly alarmed by the joint military drills that the U.S. and South Korea will soon be conducting, and whenever they get greatly upset about something they seem to express that displeasure by firing off more missiles.

...The chess pieces are slowly being moved into place, and the combatants are almost ready.

Any number of things could ultimately spark World War 3, and once it begins it is going to be nearly impossible to stop.
Av's opposite is Adar, during which our joy increases rather than decreases.  May this be the year that the month of Av also experiences its own "ve'nahafochu" moment when everything turns from mourning to gladness.

~ Wishing for all Yisrael a good and happy new month ~

Syria claims an Israeli military attack on a Quneitra garrison
    Aug 1, 2019 @ 16:03

The Syrian army Wednesday reported that the IDF staged an attack from the Golan on its garrison in the small hilltop town of Tal Bariqa in the Quneitra region. Other sources say an Israeli missile was fired at the same location after Hizballah forces was seen arriving there. There is no Israeli confirmation of these reports.

  3. It's obvious that the idf will cause ww3. Israel keeps bombing Iran and proxies because otherwise they will get too strong to combat. But the price of war will be high on us, hashem yerachem.
