"Nations Provoking One Another"

We're definitely in that time period the Yalkut Shimoni discusses.  We're talking the US, Russia and China! And a bit of Iran (Para) for spice.

Iran to send ‘fleet of warships’ to the Atlantic Ocean

Iran intends to dispatch “a fleet of warships” to the Atlantic Ocean shortly, the semi-state Fars news agency reported Thursday, quoting the regime’s navy chief.

Three Chinese Warships To Dock In Florida Port

At a time when the US and China are practically at arms over the artificial islands in the South China Seas, with the US sending warships on location to patrol (despite White House Spokesman Josh Earnest saying on Oct. 8 that U.S. warships "should not provoke significant reaction from the Chinese") and a stunned China responding "What On Earth Makes Them Think We Will Tolerate This", the last thing we thought we would see right now was three Chinese warships about to port in Florida's Naval Station Mayport.

And yet according to USNI that is precisely what is about to happen: citing US Navy officials, USNI reports that he three ships about to dock in the US are the Type 052C Luyang II-class guided-missile destroyer Jinan (152), the Type 054A Jiangkai II-class guided-missile frigate Yiyang (548) and the Type 903 Fuchi-class fleet oiler Qiandao Hu (886).

Russian aircraft approach USS Ronald Reagan, prompting US fighter jet scramble

The USS Ronald Reagan scrambled its fighter jets earlier this week after two Russian naval reconnaissance aircraft flew within one nautical mile of the U.S. aircraft carrier as it sailed in international waters east of the Korean Peninsula, according to 7th Fleet officials.

In the latest in a series of incidents involving Russian aircraft, two Tupolev Tu-142 Bear aircraft flew as low as 500 feet Tuesday morning near the Reagan, which has been conducting scheduled maneuvers with South Korean navy ships. Four F/A-18 Super Hornets took off from the Reagan’s flight deck in response to the Russian advance, 7th Fleet spokeswoman Lt. Lauren Cole said Thursday.

U.S., China Posture for Support in Their Maritime Standoff

...The U.S. is urging allies and partners to conduct their own “freedom-of-navigation” patrols in the South China Sea, possibly including some like the U.S.’s on Tuesday, which was within 12 nautical miles of the artificial island on Subi Reef, according to U.S. officials.

“We are encouraging other nations to exercise their rights under international law, similar to the way we exercised our rights,” said one senior U.S. military official.

  1. What are Chinese ships doing on the other side of the world from China? Did they saunter through the Panama Canal, go around So. America, or come in the other way across the Atlantic?
