Natural Disasters Of "Biblical Proportions" Continue Around the World

Houston is my hometown. My sister says it has rained "every day for months" where she lives in East Texas and that the ground is so saturated it can't absorb any more. Right now her house is surrounded by a lake of water with no place to go. And the weatherman says there's no end of rain in sight.

'A madhouse': Rain hammers Houston as deadly storm moves east

Deluge.

That's the best way to describe the nightmare Houston residents woke up to Tuesday, after over 11 inches of rain fell in some spots overnight and into the next day -- inundating byways and highways, slowing first responders, knocking out power and generally bringing the southeast Texas metropolis to a standstill.

"The Jet Stream is stuck in place over the Southern U.S., has been for weeks – bringing up a record amount of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. This is an unusual weather pattern unlike anything we’ve ever seen before in the annals of meteorology. We’re seeing May rainfall totals across the Southern U.S., for which there is no previous precedent mentioned in recorded history." (Source)

...damage caused by flash floods in central Texas was “absolutely devastating” and had been caused by “relentless, tsunami-type power”. (Source)

13 dead after tornado strikes border city in Mexico

In six seconds, a tornado ripped through the border city of Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, with a ferocity that officials said hasn't been witnessed in more than 100 years.

At least 13 people were killed, including three children, Acuña Mayor Evaristo Lenin Perez said. Another 200 were injured.

Photos from the scene, which sits right across the border from Del Rio, Texas, showed cars blown upright, front bumper on the ground and leaning against homes. The twister flipped over school buses and damaged about 400 homes.

Officials said records don't show such a powerful tornado hitting the city in more than a century.

The storm system that spawned the deadly tornado is the same one whose rains have caused flooding in Central Texas.

52 dead in China floods

At least six other people are missing in floods that have ravaged mountain districts of six provinces and autonomous regions in central and southeastern China. More than a quarter-million people have been moved to temporary shelters, and major damage has been inflicted on buildings and crops.

Apart from the two schoolchildren, 42 others have died due to floods and heavy rains, including 16 in the collapse of a nine-story building in the city of Guiyang following a landslide.

  1. Add to this all the volcanos, almost one a day erupting and spewing. I keep hearing Menachems words as a backdrop when I read all the disasters beginning. I also think about the people locked out of Noah's Teva as the rains begin. It's very humbling ... HaShems Hand in motion!
