THE BIG REVEAL!

6 Tevet 5786
Erev Shabbat Kodesh
Parashat Vayigash

"And Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph.  Is my father still alive?'  But his brothers could not answer him because they were left disconcerted before him."

The Stone Edition Chumash Commentary...

(Parashat VayigashBereishit 45. 1-15)  Joseph identifies himself and conciliates his brothers.  With Judah's selfless offer of himself as a substitute for Benjamin, Joseph finally had irrefutable proof of his brothers' new attitude, as exemplified by their filial devotion to Jacob, their love for Benjamin, and their sincere contrition for their crime against Joseph himself.  It was to ascertain this that he had subjected them to all these tribulations to begin with.  Moreover, his brothers had already had their share of the expiatory humiliation they deserved.  Joseph felt, therefore, that the time of reconciliation had at last arrived (Akeidah; Abarbanel; R` Hirsch).

(Haftarah Vayigash, Yechezkel 37.21-28)  The future unified nation of the Twelve Tribes.  The prophecy speaks not of a mere political union, free from the wars and rivalry that marred the era of the First Temple.  Rather, it speaks of an era under a king from the House of David, who will be a servant of God and who will unify the people in allegiance to the Torah.  Idolatry will be gone and the Temple will stand; the standard of life will be obedience to the laws of the Torah and the result will be that the entire world will know that Hashem is God.

May we very soon merit to witness the revelation of the latter-day Joseph - Mashiach ben Yoseph!!  The vision is true and will not fail...
