"Shabbat Kallah"

4 Sivan 5782
Erev Shabbat Kodesh
48 Days of the Omer
Parashat Naso - Shabbat Kallah

At the very end of last week's haftarah (Parashat Bamidbar), we read some of the most amazing, most soul-stirring and most precious words in the entire Tanach:

...In shall be on that day - the words of Hashem - you will call Me "my Husband," and you will no longer call Me, "my Master,"....

I shall marry you to Me forever; I shall marry you to Me with righteousness, and with justice, and with kindness, and with mercy.  I shall marry you to Me with fidelity; and you shall know Hashem.

This prophesied event will occur at the very end of the exile when Klal Yisrael has fully and completely repented, and it will culminate in the renewal of the Holy Covenant - a renewed acceptance of the Torah.

This Shabbat is Erev Shavuot and is known as Shabbat Kallah because Shavuot is the original date of the wedding between HKB"H and His People YisraelMoshe Rabbeinu was the Shadchan and the Torah is our ketubah.  Our idolatry with foreign gods and dependence on the nations were considered to be spiritual adultery and our unfaithfulness to Hashem caused us to be cast out of His house.  But, we have a firm promise that when we have done complete teshuvah, we will be welcomed back with the greatest love known to human beings - the soul's binding to soul's Source.
