The Shia Muslims will celebrate a fasting holiday - Ashura - on the 10th of Muharram on the Islamic calendar, which this year falls out on our 10th of Av (July 27-28). Strangely, their celebratory traditions include deep mourning and fasting. While our own fast will be ending when theirs is just beginning, some aspects of our mourning carry over to the 10th as our sages say this was when the majority of the burning of our Holy Temple took place.
There is a history of attacks on Shia Muslims on this particular day. It is apparently a very real and ongoing threat...
Might some diabolical enemy of Iran, the champion of all Shias, perceive this as an auspicious time to attack them? It seems like just anything can happen right now.
REPORT: A few hours ago (July 27) a car exploded in the Sayyidah Zaynab area in southern Damascus. The explosion was in close proximity to the Cham Lady Hotel. Tomorrow (July 28) major events are expected to take place in the area on the occasion of Ashura. It is possible that this is an attack against these events. At this point, at least 6 deaths are confirmed. A few days ago, there was an explosion of a rigged motorcycle in the exact same location. Sayyidah Zaynab is an area under the total control of the Shia axis.
