  1. Although this writer and Jerusalem Cats are right, please tell me that this Jewish Women's organization is a qiruv organization. I mean, the photos alone....

I have no interest in exploring their site any further.

And I am in the midst of a debate with a YU "semicha" recipient about the term "Rebbetzin," "Rabbanit," and "Rabba" (חו"ח). We're in a sad state of spiritual affairs.

The women are know who are learned in Torah and probably should be more out there are the very ones who are too modest to do so, and are leading by example. Those women AND men who are out there for the glory, are they really doing so for the good of the Jewish People? Or are they hassidim of Qorah?

Just had to get that out.

    1. I've added a disclaimer. It had not occurred to me that anyone would be directed to that organizations website as a result of viewing the video.

The feminist movement has an agenda and it is completely at odds with the Creator's mandate for womanhood...

      1. Make woman feel dissatisfied with their place and mission.
      2. Get women out of the home and into the world.
      3. Put women in competition with men instead of in partnership.
      4. Build animosity between males and females.
      5. Push off marriage.
      6. Lower the birthrate.

Back to the video. I posted it almost tongue-in-cheek because of her ultimate response: "Working on it." I wish I had a dollar for every Diaspora Jew I've talked to who is on a critical mission there and whose work is vital to the community. Very self-sacrificing. Avraham Avinu could have said it and it would even have been true. But, he didn't make calculations of his own, He just did what Hashem said to do.

    2. Disclosure here: Lori Palatnik is married to my cousin, Rabbi Yakov Palatnik. Although I agree 100% with all of your comments here, I have to say that they did recently make aliyah and are living in Jerusalem! So they are trying to lead by example! Please G-d a lot of Jews will soon follow.

    3. Thanks for that, Deb. B"H!! I'm so so glad to hear this. I admit that I can be very cynical when it comes to American Jews making aliyah. I've had quite a few bad experiences. So happy to know this turned out for the best.

  2. No blame on you intended. After the face, I think it's important that at least I saw this and informed others of this, and that you ended up having to make these comments.

Better to be informed and know what's out there in the world, instead of being shocked later.

  3. The notion has been expressed for decades - talk, talk, talk and...? Everyone is in their comfort zone, until? What will take? Killing? They've already killed. That's not going to move people especially when they have their panic rooms, security, guns and surveillance. What will move them is a supernatural event of such a momentum and degree that there will be no question or debate. They will just go. The event can be the revelation of the Moshiach, his dictates on going or another event that will change reality forever. There are a few scenarios, I'm going with the Moshiach one. Most feasible and very very close.

  4. What is wrong with the Jewish Women's Renaissance Project? Years ago I studied there and it is a frum organisation. As for feminism, it's not a black and white issue. Victorian women used to give birth on the factory floor, and Jewish girls from poor families were unbeknownst sold into sexual slavery, thinking that they were marrying the handsome stranger asking for their hand. This was why the Beis Yaakov schools were set up, to provide Jewish girls with a trade so that they would be able to earn their keep and avoid these "marriages". So amongst other things universal healthcare, education and maternity leave (in most of the western world) and the ability to leave or avoid abusive situations is a huge step forward. And if you have been blessed to never have been in need of such assistance give thanks to Hashem daily. Extreme third or fourth wave feminism is a different issue.

    1. Nobody said there was anything wrong with it. But when I typed in the url, I was redirected to something called Momentum Unlimited.org "formerly Jewish Women's Renaissance Project". Clicking on "about" took me nowhere, so I only had pictures to go by and they did not depict "frum" women, so all I said was I do not endorse the site. Have no idea what it is. Never heard of it before.

    2. JWRP is like Aish HaTorah and Birthright put together...for women and men in their 40s 50s and 60s...who never got to do yeshiva and be raised in Torah home.

it's a kiruv org...essentially. run by frum people...affiliated with Aish.

    3. "Affiliated with Aish" - well that says it all. Torah and mitzvot has to be disguised as "Jewish values" or it might offend those who define their own values and are not mitzvah observant.

I know, I know, this is a generation upon which we can't make demands - "snowflakes" right?

This is a popular "kiruv" philosophy, but I'll never buy into it. Not in this lifetime anyway.

    4. the woman in the video is Lori Palatnik. she does great work.

she's a very powerful speaker in the Jewish world.

this particular org has done many incredible trips to Israel...for very very disconnected North American Jews.

you can't push people who are in their 50s and 60s. they only thing that will wake them up is life itself. certain realizations they need to come to on their own.

      it happens sooner or later

  5. FYI: I won't accept any more comments on the pros or cons of feminism. That is not the subject of this blog post. Far from it. And it was my fault for being the first one to go off on that tangent, so please accept my apologies.

  7. NBOR, I agree with you, but I really don't want to continue this line of discussion right now. Thanks for your comments though.

  8. Just saw on the Jewish Press website, a short video by Rabbi Winston trying to convince the Yehudim to come home because Moshiach is very close. He was trying to bring out what some great Sages have foretold that those who come home before Moshiach will have the zechut of actually flying! After the coming of Moshiach when all Jews will return home, they will look up to the sky and see people literally flying and will ask if those are angels and will be told that they are not angels but those that made aliya before the coming of Moshiach and for that will have great zechut, but eventually we will all be able to fly. Very nice & uplifting short video! (I don't know how to post it here; just go to www.moshiachiscoming.com blog dated 11/20/19 and you can click on that post from the Jewish Press website.
