FYI

27 Menachem Av 5772

We're coming to the end of the month of Menachem Av without yet seeing the great menachem which our souls crave, but with the end of Av comes a month of preparation for Rosh Hashanah. It all begins with...

Yom Kippur Katan for Rosh Chodesh Elul, which is observed on Thursday, 16 August (28 Menachem Av) because the 29th is Erev Shabbat.

Shabbat Parshat Re'eh ("See, I put before you a blessing and a curse...") is also Rosh Chodesh Aleph for Elul.

Sunday, 19 August (1 Elul) is Rosh Chodesh Bet for Elul. No slichot until after Rosh Chodesh so the Sefardim will begin slichot around 4:30 am Monday, 20 August (2 Elul).

Here is a little something from Torah.org to get you started:

The Month of Elul: A Month of Preparation

It's not too early to start wishing a Ketivah v'chatimah tovah!

Shabbat shalom & Chodesh tov!!
