Is America Headed for Yellowstone Super-Volcano Eruption Catastrophe?
“It would explode with a force a thousand times more powerful than the Mount St Helens eruption in 1980,” the UK’s Daily Mail warns. The world’s largest super-volcano located underneath the United States’ Yellowstone National Park is set to blow.
Spewing lava far into the sky, a cloud of plant-killing ash would fan out and dump a layer 10ft deep up to 1,000 miles away.
Two-thirds of the U.S. could become uninhabitable as toxic air sweeps through it, grounding thousands of flights and forcing millions to leave their homes.
This is the nightmare that scientists are predicting could happen if the world’s largest super-volcano erupts for the first time in 600,000 years, as it could do in the near future.

My family and I visited Yellowstone in the summer of 5769 as part of a longer road trip. Your posts about the supervolcano were always in the back of my mind while I was there.
ReplyDeleteChicago will be buried under ash. Come home while you still can. I'm not joking.
ReplyDeleteTo Yaak...I remember when your family made that trip. I was driving to a family camp in Wisconsin and called your father (one of my two rabbis) with an urgent question and he said they were driving through Minnesota at that moment coming back to Chicago. I, too, was thinking of that super-volcano in my mind, "oh wow, they went through Yellowstone!!!"
ReplyDeleteOK-Devash! We all hear you about moving home...I plan on it everyday...all I need to do yet is to switch my phone number over, and then will see how Hashem is going to get me out of here! Some of us have no connections, no family, no money, no hebrew. I'm trusting Hashem to arrange everything! And I don't like to rely on miracles.
-Devorah in Chicago
Devorah, the whole Jewish people is your family! We're almost six million strong here now. And Hashem owns all the money in the world. He'll continue to give you what you need and even more so as you perform this very great all-encompassing mitzvah!! The Hebrew will come. It's not easy, but the key is to USE IT as you learn it. Believe me, remaining in chu"l is more of an expectation of miracles than moving to EY.
