Everything is moving so fast!

18 Adar I 5771

I took a few hours to work on a separate blog archive and while I was otherwise occupied, major stuff was going down!

Drudge was reporting that Qaddafi was en route to Venezuela and that gas, oil and gold prices were taking off. Meanwhile, the "unrest" has now spread to Morocco and Algeria.

Also an erupting volcano in the Phillipines has sent thousands fleeing for their lives. And yet another winter storm is "walloping" the American Midwest on its way to the Northeast.

At the same time, Debka was reporting that "US warships" had "boxed in" the Iranian flotilla at the Suez Canal:

"The Iranian warships found themselves cheek to jowl with a major concentration of American naval might piling up in the Red Sea and Suez and were not sure what would happen if they went foward with their mission...."

At last report, the Iranians are supposed to be transiting the Canal on Tuesday night, 22 Feb.

(All this in addition to a report that a 5.9 earthquake had occurred at the Suez Canal at 3 am on Mon.)

Some notable quotes on the matzav:

(1) U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Mike Mullen, on a pre-planned visit to the Middle East, says he is “stunned” by the pace of upheavals in region. "The speed with which this has happened has really taken me aback,” Mullen said of unrest that has moved through the region.

(2) The events currently shaking the Arab world “were ordained from above” by a guiding hand, Israel Defense Forces Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Naveh said on Sunday. Naveh added that the Israeli army needed faith in God now more than its supply of planes and tanks.

  1. the very last comment is the most inspiring because anytime you have amilitary man say these things, it is saying that they are 'awakening" to what is really going on and not just the physical technical and supericial.....

Government Shutdown: 12 Things That Would & Wouldn’t Happen
    (Monday, February 21st, 2011)

After not being able to agree on a budget last year, Congress passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through March 4.

Here’s what would and wouldn’t be affected if Congress can’t come to an agreement by the deadline:

What would be shut down or curtailed. . .

    . . .Passports

Those seeking passports or other documents would not be able to do so.

During the last shutdown, 200,000 passport applications went unprocessed. In addition, the tourism industry and airlines reportedly suffered millions of dollars in losses.
