We Are Not Alike - Yisrael Is Unique

9 Adar 5786

I just finished listening to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi's address to the Knesset today.  He speaks as a "friend" and a supporter of Israel, but for the usual reason given by such "supportive" goyim -  "shared democratic and humanitarian values."

He drew parallels between Israel and India which truly are not parallels at all.  They just like the parts of us that they can relate to, and as our "friends," they ignore what they can't relate to while our "enemies" focus on those things and it feeds their hatred.  That's the only difference. And that means the "friendship" of our so-called supporters, even admirers, is conditional.  At some point in the not-so-distant future, everything that connects them to us emotionally, will change.  And there will not remain to us even one nation as a true friend and ally - not even India.

  2. Could be nothing, but the first thing that comes to mind is...

Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus--this is Ahasuerus who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces-- (Esther 1:1)

As I said, could be nothing. These countries were specifically mentioned to define the boundaries of the Persian Empire, and to show the extent of its reach.

  3. For the entire world to turn against Israel it has to be something significant. The most ardent supporters, along with Israeli leaders, point to "democracy" as significant. When the Jewish State forgoes "democracy" for "Torah" all things will change. Maybe it would have been easier to justify using Rashi's words regarding how Torah starts rather than a Greco-Roman ideology.

If they understood the depth of Torah and its righteousness the nations wouldn't be emulating justice as done in Sodom etc. Many decisions aren't too far from 'blood-letting'. But they have been convinced Talmud is "of the devil", without knowing a word. I could understand if their problem is with Shulchan Aruch, but that isn't for them. One day they will recover from their blindness.

  4. You are absolutely correct; that we are different and Eretz Yisrael is different than all other nations and countries and should be a given to every Jewish neshama. The Torah distinctly teaches us that we are not counted among the nations and we are a people that dwells alone. Our Divine laws are not the laws of the nations. Our challenge was in the last hundred years in the era of the establishment of the State if we
will either abide by the Laws given to us by G-D's holy Torah or will we
become like all the other nations. We know the answer to that, but we
who believe in the G-D of Avraham, Yitzchak & Yaakov became a thorn
in their sides when we fought so hard to uphold Torah in the Land..
We are taught that in blood and tears we will conquer the Land.
Now, B'H, that we are very close to our ultimate Geulah, the fruits of our hard fought labor will be realized. Everything is m'Shamayim and only Hashem Controls everything.
    His Promises endure forever.
May we mercifully greet Moshiach very soon with glory!
