22 Sivan 5785
As tonight begins the 23rd of Sivan, I thought I'd better get right over here and set the record straight before too many are taken in. There are various versions of this going around the internet, generated, I think, more by Chr*stians than Jews...
"In the Book of Esther which is read on the Jewish holiday of Purim, the fall of Haman and the Persian/Iranian regime happened on the 23rd of Sivan. That date on the Hebrew calendar is this coming Thursday."
The referenced passage in Megillat Esther sets this date (23 Sivan) as the time the decree was officially issued allowing the Jews to take up arms and defend themselves in the month of Adar of the upcoming year.
The Jews had just fasted for three days on the 14th, 15th and 16th of Nissan, at which time Esther approached the King and invited him, along with Haman HaRasha to a banquet (on the 16th), only to invite them yet again for the next day (the 17th). At the end of which Haman HaRasha was summarily taken out and hung on the gallows he had built for Mordechai - the 17th of Nissan.
It would be almost a year before the date for the decree of annihilation would arrive. I read that the sons of Haman HaRasha were actually killed during that Adar uprising against the Jews.
So, Haman did not "fall" on the 23rd of Sivan and neither did the Persian Empire or even Achashverosh's regime. It was the day when the King's edict allowing the Jews to defend themselves was made official and made public across the land.
Make of that whatever you will but please keep it consistent with the historical facts. Thanks!
(Reference Table of Dates)
If the xtians are using that date then they are obviously trying to learn as much as possible from our texts. They're trying to replace us. c'v
ReplyDeleteBut, the fact is that this is a very auspicious date because this is the day as we read in Megilat Esther that the decree of annihiliating the Jews was on the 23rd day of Sivan, the day the decree was ANNULLED by the king, and it is a big day for we, Jews,to say Tehilim and ask for what we need and want from the Ribbono Shel Olam!
The messianic so-called Jews, especially in EY are using our Torah and
teaching the goyim & lost Jews, all in a twisted way, teachings from our Torah. All of a sudden they know this and that, all perverted, of course, from our Torah teachings. That's not a good sign. May all their evil designs be thwarted.

Amen, xns are no less a threat than muslims. They've been trying to replace us for nearly two thousand years. I would add that may all the Jews, usually frum Jews, who have been taken in by them and inflicted them on us, wake up and make serious tshuva.

It does not matter about the other dates of Adar & Nissan.
ReplyDeleteThe Sages bring up this date because this was the actual date
of Annulling the decree! All the fighting, etc. really is not what matters,
it is only because of the decree of the king that gave permission to the
Jews to do as they like and allowed them to take revenge.
The fighting, etc. did not occur in just a day but for quite some
time. The 23rd of Sivan is the date that Sages bring up because it
was the determining factor that the evil decree was over and which
gave permission to the Jews to take revenge.

It is a very important day dont waist it.
ReplyDeletethe farbrengen of Parshas Shlach 5743 (1983), the Rebbe addressed the date of 23 Sivan.
The Rebbe said: “The Megilla relates that on this day, the 23rd of Sivan, after the hanging of Haman, ‘V’yikaru sofrei haMelech- the scribes of the King were called‘, and they wrote whatever Mordecai commanded.
“Mordechai drafted a royal decree giving the Jews the license to defend themselves and kill all who rise up against them to kill them, nullifying the previous decree of annihilation.
“The decree was dispatched to all 127 provinces of Achashverosh’s empire. (Book of Esther, chapter 8). This led to the Jewish people knowing how to defeat their enemies on the 13th of Adar which was then followed by the celebration of Purim.
“Everything from the Torah is eternal, repeating itself each year. This above-mentioned decree of Mordechai also repeats itself every 23rd of Sivan. Today the scribes are being called again to draft a royal decree, the ‘scribes’ being the scribes of Hashem, who is called Achashverosh, being that acharis v’reishis shelo, all belongs to him.
“The sofrim write whatever Mordecai asks. Every Jew is like Mordecai who doesn’t bow to anything against the Torah.
“On this day, the 23rd of Sivan, every Jew, even though they are in galus as Mordecai was, and even though there is a darkness, as there was during the decree of Haman, nevertheless, every Jew has the power to accomplish what he wants, the same way Mordecai accomplished. We can request what we want and our will granted by Hashem Himself.”
As the world shakes from one event after the next, the Rebbe’s holy words reverberate today more than ever. May we utilize the special day to daven for everything we need, and especially the one real solution, the coming of Moshiach.
The most important thing, in general, and now more than ever is to strive to be in a place of bitul to Hashem in our personal lives and with respect to current events. No Jew should be wedded to any agenda or belief in any person or power that is not Hashem directly. Tamim tihiyu im Hashem Elokeicha. Ein Od Milvado. That is all that matters. Only Hashem decides how this will play out. Our influence is to put our trust in Hashem alone, when chalila a Jew puts their trust in something outside of Hashem, Hashem so to speak leaves them to it with that person or power.
ReplyDeleteThere are three dangers, to say that it's coincidence, im tilchu iti bekeri, to say I did it, bekochi, and that includes in ruchaniut, and to trust x, y or z. The common thread is a lack of emuna in Hashem.
Personally, I always found the end of Megillat Esther disappointing. B'D we were saved from annihilation, but the Jews chose to remain in galut, when they could have ascended to EY. Be'D this time around will a chance for a huge tikkun, when Haman Harasha falls again, Jews everywhere will not just celebrate, but rise up and ascend.

The irony being that this day gives Jews the green light to destroy all who try to destroy us. Who more than xns have been trying to destroy us physically and or spiritually (our eternal life) for nearly two thousand years. So xns shouldn't be celebrating. This is their downfall too. If you want to chalila convert a Jew you don't love him but hate him. We otoh should be davening for the downfall of xnty too. Rav Ades spoke about this a while back.
ReplyDeleteHitoreri
Is this the same Rav Ades the mekubal and tzaddik who davens at the kotel every morning?

Possibly, he's a huge tsadik. He has a video about anyone wanting to see yeshuot should daven for their downfall. And in general important to do so. Think of all the avoda zara in EY because of them, and we can't,won't do anything about it. In fact, many rabbonim chose to live in Bnei Brak and not in Yerushalayim cos of the avoda zara. The more spiritual you are the more sensitive too.

Haman's Decree Counteracted (357 BCE)
ReplyDeleteEven after Haman was hanged on the 17th of Nissan of 357 BCE, his evil decree "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, from young to old, infants and women, in one day, the 13th day of the 12th month (Adar)" remained in force. Queen Esther pleaded with King Achashverosh to annul the decree, but Achashverosh insisted that "a writ that has been written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's seal, cannot be returned." Instead, he suggested to Esther and Mordechai to "inscribe, regarding the Jews, as you please, and seal it with the king's seal." On the 23rd of Sivan, Mordechai drafted a royal decree giving the Jews the license to defend themselves and kill all who rise up against them to kill them, and dispatched it to all 127 provinces of Achashverosh's empire. (Book of Esther, chapter 8)
