Suffering is "Good"

…And the suffering that the EREV RAV inflict to the Jews in Exile accelerates the Redemption, and the calm that they have towards the Jews delays the redemption.

Tikkune Zohar, Tikkun 12

Just Received by Email...

"To Fellow Friends and Yidden,
I learned today that the Gedolim of Jerusalem (Israel)....somewhere here in Eretz Kodesh have called for Tehillim .... in particular 121 and 122 to be said DAILY in light of Israel's current situation (I am assuming they are referring to the 'war' but then again there are numerous 'situations' plaguing Yidden these days...personally and as a Klal). We have been asked to 'pass this' on this call for Tehillim.....so please do the same."

Don't Be Fooled

Nothing has fundamentally changed in Israel. The Erev Rav regime still rules over us. The IDF would still evict Jews from their homes today if they weren't otherwise occupied with the Arabs. The Jewish people still need to do teshuva.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the leopards' spots have changed overnight just because it appears that Israel is now fighting back on behalf of its citizens. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those in power care no more for the average citizen today than they did three days ago or a year ago or seven years ago....

The puppetmasters have simply moved the strings and changed the backdrop. Can it be more obvious??? Clearly, the order to take out Hamas has come from Washington. G-d knows and we do, too, that the Baraks and Olmerts are lacking the anatomical accoutrements necessary to carry this war out on their own initiative.

What do we expect to gain from this military adventure? If we eradicated Hamas tomorrow, would terrorism cease? Would Hezbollah lay down their arms? Would Iran scrap its nuclear program? Would America stop insisting that Judea and Samaria become Judenrein in the face of the establishment of Palestine in our heartland?

This is all about taking out the impediments to George Bush's vision of a PLO-run Palestine in the middle of Eretz Yisrael.

The regime will think it has the green light from its Washington masters, but it will get carried away and go too far and the world will rise up with a great unified cry against Jerusalem.

So, do not look for some great military victory. Instead, look for the situation to begin to deteriorate badly at some point. Look for Hezbollah to join the fray. Look for the riots to spread and to become more violent, especially in Jerusalem. Look for some unprecedented catastrophe to take place involving the mosques on the Temple Mount, i.e. riots after prayers which result in massive casualties. Then look for foreign forces, NATO or UN or a combination of both, to come in and take control of our Holy City as a consequence (or attempt to anyway), G-d forbid. Look for the same forces to be dispatched across Yehuda and Shomron as well to protect the 'peace-loving Arabs' from 'evil rampaging settlers,' G-d forbid.

As has been said here before, something, either terrorist attack or natural disaster will keep George Bush in office. He knows that it is his destiny to finish what his fathers started. (This is hinted at in the fact that his war in Iraq picked up exactly where his father's left off.)

Nothing in the world is going to be operating normally. Unprecedented events are in the offing...

Congratulations! It's a War!

The final day of Kislev was the completion of nine full months. "Labor" began the following day on the first day of the tenth month. The question we all want the answer to is --- Will it finally bring us the birth of the messianic age???

Babylon Conquered by Rome

And what better way to communicate that victory but with the image that represents Rome to the world.

Iraqi government sponsors Christmas celebration
Picture of Jesus floats overhead while official declares Iraqis 'all Christian'

Christians, the first people of Iraq, have faced persecution, threats, assassination and mass extermination in recent years. But to celebrate Christmas 2008, the government formally recognized the Christian faith by sponsoring a Baghdad city-center party featuring a huge poster of Jesus suspended by a balloon and an artist creating oil paintings representing Jesus.

According to a report from CNN, the agency's correspondent was told by Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Karim Khalaf, "All Iraqis are Christian today!"

"...The main focus was the huge picture of Jesus," he said.

At Hot Air, Ed Morrisssey wrote, "Can anyone imagine this celebration taking place with government support in any other Arab nation — even those normally described as 'moderate'? Not only does this celebration include the standard secular imagery of Santa Claus, they actually put a picture of Jesus Christ on a hot-air balloon. That's a big deal in a Muslim nation, where they object strenuously (and often violently) to iconography. Suggesting that Iraqis are 'all Christians' on any day would get a Muslim fired or worse anyplace else in the region."

He continued, "This is what victory looks like. Iraq has settled into what Condoleezza Rice called a 'multi-confessional' society, one that has begun to promote a religious tolerance that is unlike anything seen in that region in decades, if not centuries or ever."

And Rome is destined to fall to Mashiach Ben Yosef.

And Meanwhile, the War Continues...

"Before the arrival of Moshiach, most of the rabbis will be from the Erev Rav,..."

"In the holy book Toldot Yakov Joseph (Parshat Nasso) written by Rav Yaakov Joseph of Polnoye, of blessed memory, says that now in the years of the coming of Mashiach the evil inclination concentrates on the leaders and Rabbis and not on each individual, because if the leaders fall into the net of the evil inclination thereby straying from the right path, then they will bring down with them the masses that follow those leaders.

How convenient for the Erev Rav that by assuming leadership, they've placed themselves above question and above reproach. Should anyone dare to question a 'holy' rabbi, he will immediately be silenced by being struck with one of three stout sticks:

1. The "lashon hara" stick - evil speech/gossip
2. The "sinat chinam" stick - baseless hatred
3. The "achdut" stick - unity of the Jewish people

As the Erev Rav rabbi wields the stick, his faithful followers call out the blows in absolute agreement. And Truth is trampled in the dust by those stampeding to redeem the honor of The Rabbi.

I was taught that a rabbi is not in and of himself worthy of any special honor. It is the Torah that he embodies through his years of learning which earns him his kavod. It is the honor of Torah which we lavish upon our rabbis, not the men themselves, G-d forbid. One Jew is superior to another only by virtue of his learning.

I was also taught that since true smicha was lost, the title of "rabbi" is a courtesy only. No one today can command by the authority of Moshe Rabbeinu. This kind of authority is conferred by agreement of the people who choose to accept it upon themselves. It has not been passed down from Sinai.

Answer to Stick #1: The Chofetz Chaim's codification of the laws of lashon hara specifically detail in what situations and under what circumstances it is allowed, and even required to speak lashon hara.

Interestingly, we find in Tanakh, Yirmiyahu, chapter 40-41, where the failure to listen to lashon hara resulted in the end of Jewish life in Judea in the wake of the Babylonian exile.

Answer to Stick #2: The term "baseless hatred" consists of two words. Hatred we know, but what don't we understand about the word "baseless?" It means without any good reason. There are many examples of Jews separating from fellow Jews based on clothing style. That is "baseless" hatred.

King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived and son of King David whom Hashem called "a man after my own heart" said this about "hate:"

Koheleth 3:8 --- "[There is] A time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace."
From Tehillim ---

(5:5) "...You hate all workers of iniquity."
(11:5) "His [Hashem's] soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence."
(26:5) "... I [David] hated the congregation of the evildoers,...."
(31:7) "I [David] hated those who await worthless vanities,...."
(45:8) "You loved righteousness and you hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, anointed you with oil of joy from among your peers."
(97:10) " You who love the Lord, hate evil; ...."
(119:104) "From Your precepts I shall gain understanding; therefore, I hate all ways of falsehood."
(119:113) " I hate those who harbor iniquitous thoughts, but Your Torah I love."
(139:21-22) "Did I not hate Your enemies, O Lord? With those who rise up against You, I quarrel. I hate them with utmost hatred; they have become my enemies."

Answer to stick #3: What brotherhood do we have with those who willfully rebel and ally themselves with our enemies? What unity does righteousness have with unrighteousness? What common cause can Truth find amidst lies and deception?

THE EREV RAV: THE MAIN SIN OF ADAM AND MOSHE

The main aspect of the sin of Adam ha Rishon was that he wanted to bring close to him all the admixture of Chametz, the Erev rav and the 70 nations and this was also the sin of Moshe Rabbeinu when he took with him the Erev Rav, and they made things worse when they made the Golden Calf. And we are still in exile, for the redeemer will not come until we will purify and separate ourselves from them. And this was also the sin of King Shlomo when he received converts. (Sefer ha Likuttim Tehillim )

AS LONG AS THE EREV RAV ARE WITH THE JEWS, HASHEM’S NAME IS NOT COMPLETE

In the end, when and as long as the Erev Rav are mixed within Israel, there is no proximity and union in the letters of YUD KE VAV KE. And immediately when they will be erased from the world it is said regarding the letters of Ha Kaddosh Baruch Hu (YUD KE VAV KE) (Zecharia 14) “On that day YUD KE VAV KE will be one as His name one”. And because of this ADAM who is indeed ISRAEL they have union with the Torah which is a Tree of life to those who hold fast by it… (Zohar ha Kaddosh I 27b)

It requires a zealot, someone whose love for HKBH and His honor outweighs any fear of punishment or retribution, to take on the battle with the Erev Rav. Threats are useless against such a person.

Caution: Know Your Rabbi

[Disclaimer: What follows should in no way be construed to mean that all rabbis are bad, G-d forbid, or that "Rabbinical" Judaism is not the traditional Judaism of our fathers, G-d forbid.]

"...some of the most frightening words come from the Divrei Chaim, who says:

"Before the arrival of Moshiach, most of the rabbis will be from the Erev Rav, because Israel in themselves are holy, but the Erev Rav only work for their own benefit . . . wanting to rule over the public...."
(Divrei Chaim, Parashas Vayakhel, 'Omissions')

Ellen Horowitz is a mother, artist and writer who lives in the Golan. Her articles often appear on Israel National News' website. Her latest is entitled "Did you hear the one about the Jewish Knight, the Pope, the Rabbi, and Jesus?"

Here are some pertinent excerpts:

Riskin Drops a Bomb

"You can’t make this stuff up. The December 2008 Jerusalem Post Christian Edition has a feature article on Rabbi Shlomo Riskin’s new interfaith endeavor - Ohr Torah Stone's Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding & Cooperation. David Nekrutman is the Executive Director of the center which is located in Efrat.

You may want to sit down before reading the following choice quotes from that article (lest you plotz):

Rabbi Riskin said, “The Christians have told the whole world about the God of love and peace, and they did it by picking up the ball that we Jews dropped 2000 years ago."
“Nekrutman assured his guests that he wanted them to feel comfortable, and even urged them, despite being in a synagogue, to ‘pray in Jesus name. Don't leave Jesus at the door’."

I don’t know if we dropped the ball, Rabbi Riskin. I think it’s more like we Jews dropped back for a pass, and the other team (let’s call them “the Saints”) were guilty of illegally roughing the passer and stealing the ball - among a torrent of other fouls.

And from where I’m sitting, it does seem that certain progressive rabbis – not unlike “Progressive rabbis” - are playing dangerous games and may be at risk of fumbling the future for all of us.

These “Orthodox” rabbis, like their “messianic” Christian counterparts, are trying to “put a new face on Jesus” in order to market him in the name of interfaith dialogue and Jewish-Christian reconciliation (or Jewish conversion – depending on which side of the fence you are standing).

Then there's "Rabbi" Aviner of Gush Katif fame:
Testimony on Shlomo Aviner
(See further http://shlomo-aviner.blogspot.com/)

Someone comes and says, "Rav Aviner can be trusted because he comes out strongly against the xians" and another one comes and says, "Rabbi Riskin can be trusted because he came out against 'disengagement.' "

Then comes Rabbi Simcha Ysachar Ber Chalberstam, zt’l and says:

"...and even if we see in them (The Erev Rav) good things like Torah and tradition and good manners and in particular they make peace with everybody and peace is the foundation of everything, ...we must reject all these people even when they have good aspects in their behavior because then will be time of Clarification and selection and this will be the trial and choice in those days [the days prior to Mashiach]." (Divrei Simcha)

This is what the holy Rabbi Yehonathan Eyebeshutz, author of Yearot Devash writes (Derush 15):

“Due to our many sins, the jealousy and zealousness due to G-d have disappeared, they are turned upside down and in their place the honor and profit of the people dominate.

G-d forbid if someone comes and argues or diminishes the honor of any Rabbi or a leader of a congregation or if someone violates a decree of the community concerning the communal budget and allowances, they will run after him and persecute him until the end. But if on the other hand someone comes and damages or diminishes the honor of the Torah and he raises his hand against the Torah of Moshe, they will only shut their mouth.

Even the good and pious people will only go so far as to say about that person: “May his name be blotted out”. But in this case no one will suggest to persecute him and run after him to humiliate him or cause him shame. And this constitutes the length of our exile, because no one is jealous for the Jealousy and Honor of G-d. "

Response to Commenter

An anonymous commenter left a message that I think is worth its own post. (The comments are in bold, italicized font.)

The truth is, Devash, Hashem can cut the process short at any time.

In fact, we know that the prophecy of Achishena (Moshiach being sent earlier than he was originally scheduled to appear) must be fulfilled.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but according to chazal, the "achisheinah" scenario is only fulfilled if we repent fully on our own. If we don't merit geulah achisheinah, then we are left with geulah b'ita---in its time. If we don't deserve it (which, quite obviously we don't or it would have already arrived), then it will come anyway, but only in its time, like a lowly donkey, plodding along and bringing sorrow, suffering and disaster in its wake. Many rabbis have already said that all opportunities for a geulah achisheinah have passed and we are now locked into the geulah b'ita scenario.

What's more, Hashem is the Rachum v'Chanun, the Compassionate and Gracious One, Who loves his people. I just don't see how, after the Exile extended to just about the last possible moment, that Our Father would let it conclude with catastrophe.
I just don't see it.

Hashem is also Just. He created us with free will and admonished us to choose life. If, after all the help He has given us and all the messages He has sent, we choose the path of death, His justice requires Him to honor that free will choice. He will not force anyone.

I've said this before and it bears repeating...
Judgment is coming to Eisav/Edom. All the prophets tell of it. This judgment is not intended for Jews, but if Hashem cannot convince you within the bounds of free-will to flee from there, what else can you expect? This is like Lot. If he had refused, along with his married daughters and sons-in-law to leave, he would not have survived because Sodom and Amora had been judged and the angels had arrived to carry out their destruction.

And if the Exile concludes, chos v'shalom, as you and others envision, so be it. We in America will try to help and protect each other and accept our fate with love.

But how sad that you prefer to perish rather than submit your will to your Creator and be obedient to the commandment to enter and settle the Land of Israel which Hashem lovingly prepared for us.

But I must ask a question:

Why does it ALWAYS come out that the English-speaking writers living in Eretz Yisrael who write about "The End" ALWAYS include very, very harsh outcomes for their brethren who have not yet come to live in Eretz Yisrael?

Why is this?

For the reasons cited above and because these are the words of our holy prophets. I'll remind again; see Yechezkel, chapter 20: "...I shall separate from you those who rebel and those who transgress against Me; from the land of their sojournings I shall take them, but to the land of Israel they shall not come, and you will know that I am the Lord."
It has nothing to do with being English-speakers (are you reading Hebrew also?), but it could have something to do with having won the battle over the yetzer hara when it comes to taking the actual steps of making aliyah to the Land of Israel.

The Ramchal writes in Mesillat Yesharim about one who has successfully navigated a maze and now takes a seat above it from where he can advise those following him to make the necessary moves so that they, too, can succeed.

That's what this is all about. It's not about one-upmanship. It's about saving as many Jewish lives as possible. I'll close with some words from a prophet in our time, my Rav, Rabbi Meir David Kahane, zt"l, Hy"d.:

(From his last speech in NYC, 18 Cheshvan 5751, minutes before an assassin's bullet darkened our world)

"...This is a country which is on the verge of economic horror, horror. ...The banks here are shaking, they're tottering. In their greed, in the 1960's and 70's, they gave loans to anybody.

...So hundreds of millions [in actuality, it turned into billions and trillions] of bad loans are being held by major banks: Chase Manhattan, Citicorp --- and they are in deep, deep trouble today. And on top of that the real estate market has collapsed and they are now holding several hundred milion dollars of bad mortgages. That's the tragedy.

...So America has lived beyond its means --- extra credit, credit cards --- and give anybody credit, give kids credit cards--- anybody. Now it's time to pay the piper, there is no money, there is no money. And should the economic collapse come, it is the Jew who will be blamed. it is the Jew. You can hear it already, you can smell it in the air. [And he could. That's how he knew.]

We have a serious problem---the economic crisis cannot be averted. There is no way. This country is in for terrible, terrible times. People tell me that in the Depression it was also bad. It's true, but...it was a different era back then. The American people at that time were a much stronger people in character. Today, after 40-50 year of the good life and the soft life, and the materialistic life, people are into themslves. Unbelievable ego. Everything is me, me... People are incapable today of making sacrifices and that's the great difference between today and what happened in the Depression. The person who is poor and gets poorer---not so terrible. The person who had it and lost it becomes a wild animal, a raging animal. He'll not accept it and will look for a scapegoat. He'll look for some target to blame. We Jews are the most visible, the most highly visible in terms of power, in terms of money.

...The Almighty always gives the "trufa" before the "maka." He always gives the healing before the sickness. We have a Jewish state today... Geula and galut cannot coexist. When there was no Jewish state, it was the era of exile...Now that there is a Jewish state, the exile is going to end whether we like it or not, and the time is now to come home."

What's happening today was poised to explode then, but I'll tell you what happened. O-S-L-O. When the Erev Rav regime banned Kach and the people did not protest the loss of their democratic rights, Rav Kahane's mission was interrupted and had to be passed to another. During the interruption, Israel has suffered through the "Piece" Process.

An extension of the galut was bought with the blood of Jews blown to mangled bits on the streets of Israel's cities. But, you know what? It was only a delay and now we see that this delay has now ended and geula is once again on the march. But the trouble is, interest was accumulating for the galut during the delay and now payday has arrived and the cost is much greater now than it would have been then. G-d help us. The cost is already astronomically greater.

Rabbi Kahane said: "Say the bitter truth, even though they won't like you. They won't like you, they'll attack you, but tell the Jews the truth if you love them. If you love Jews, tell them the things which will make them angry, but which can save their lives.

...It's hard to live in Israel, but it will be impossible to live here...."

Watch the video below and ponder these words: "He'll look for some target to blame. We Jews are the most visible, the most highly visible in terms of power, in terms of money."

Just for the Record

In 2004, I wrote and circulated an analysis of Daniel, chapter 11. I want to go on record here today as holding to my original assessment---that this chapter describes the End of Days clash between the last three kings of the West and Yishmael. I was able to match current events to every detail of chapter 11 for the three presidents of the USA (the undisputed leader of the West) who have presided over the "Peace Process," namely George Bush 1, Bill Clinton, and George Bush 2.

Consequently, I believe that George Bush 2 is the last president of the United States. I do not think that Barack Obama will ever take office. There are any number of ways this could come about, but in any conceivable case, the people of the United States are facing extremely difficult circumstances within their borders, irrespective of the economy.

Considering how it seems that Hashem gives until the very last possible moment, perhaps the Inauguration will be disrupted and for the sake of continuity, George Bush 2 will hold onto power for awhile longer.

If so, then we could be talking about 33 days left to get out of 'Dodge.'

Given historical precedent, I would also expect the situation here in Eretz Yisrael to deteriorate severely in order to give balance for the sake of free will. If it were perfect here while things are getting bad everywhere else, naturally people would flock here, even some that we don't want, like millions of Gentiles.

It could be a terrorist attack (foreign or home-grown) or it could be a massive natural disaster (Yellowstone Supervolcano or New Madrid earthquake), but whatever is coming, I don't believe you can count on being able to travel. Having a passport is not going to help you if the planes aren't flying.

If you learned nothing else from 9/11, remember how, inconceivably, no passenger planes flew for four days. This was a major warning!! The next time, it might be for four months or four years!

Jews are supposed to come home. Jews need to come home. And stay home!

Somebody is going to be too late. Somebody is going to be the last Jew out and somebody else is going to be standing behind the gate watching him go and wishing he hadn't delayed that one last extra minute. I wish it didn't have to be that way.

Hashem, have mercy on Your children!

Beginning on the night of December 27th - the New Moon - The Israeli and United States Forces will strike Iran. The dark night is not a problem for all of our Jewish Brethren or the USA

Look for the 1000 GBU Bunker Buster Bombs Israel (dear homeland) purchased a couple of months ago from George Bush, to be used to expose the Natanz Nuclear Enrichment Facilities. Once the dirt and concrete cover are removed, it will be time for a Tactical Nuclear Weapon to go down the 200 feet below ground into the heart of NATANZ, IRAN

This Tactical Nuclear Strike will effectively be below ground - so minimal spreading of Uranium nuclides - but also the end of the Iranian Nuclear threat.

For the last 3 years US and IDF and Mossad Special Forces have been placing Infra-Red Laser Target Designators all over Iran on New Moon evenings. The December 27th date is mandatory as Obama won the US election and after his inauguration, we Israelis cannot count on the US NSA support in turning on the laser designators or giving our IDF and Mossad forces the support needed to wipe out all Iranian Nuclear Sites.

A Lesson in Holding Onto the Land

"Speaking at the Hassan Bek mosque in Jaffa ..., [Sheik Raad] Salah warned Israel his followers would not leave the country easily. Anyone who thinks they can get us to leave our land had better prepare a million coffins...." (Ynet)

Rabbi Kook on ceding the Land of Israel :

"The obligation of `you shall inherit the land and settle it' is that the land should be in our hands, and we should not abandon it to any other nation," Kook said. "This is a positive commandment from the Torah, clear and absolute, applying to all of Israel: that for this land, throughout its borders, we are obligated to give up our lives. If the moment of compulsion comes, whether from non-Jews or, God forbid, from Jews - because of political errors and errors of judgment - we are all obligated to die rather than violate [this commandment].

"Judea and Samaria, the Golan Heights - these will not go without war," he continued. "Someone asked me if I want to start a civil war. I won't get into terminology, and I won't put a name to this matter, but this is a fact: It will not go, it will not pass without a war. Over our bodies and our limbs. All of us. The non-Jews will not bring it about, nor will our own political messes. Under no circumstances in the world." (Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook)

9 Dec 2008 update: Further on in this article we find the following:

" Rabbi Eliezer Melamed of Har Bracha, told Haaretz that the issue of Kook's speech also arose before the evacuation of Yamit, in Sinai. "But I don't know a single rabbi who believes that Rabbi Kook's intent was that we should wage a civil war over the land of Israel...

Another rabbi, who asked to remain anonymous, said that there are people "on the fringes" who take Kook's words literally, but insisted that this is an incorrect interpretation....."

It's something we must think deeply about and review in light of our long and illustrious history, especially with Hanukah approaching.

"Another leading student of Kook's, Rabbi Shlomo Aviner of Beit El, recently published a strict prohibition against violence during the evacuation, in a circular distributed throughout the settlements. "This army is our army, and this police force is our police force," he wrote. "They are Jews, not Britons. They are our brothers, even if they are coming to carry out an order that should not have been given ... Don't lift a hand, don't insult, don't hate. Even in difficult situations, we will adhere to love for all Israel... We will not even shove a soldier. We will embrace him."

This, my friends, is the voice of the Erev Rav. How piously he shuns "hatred" and embraces "love." What a sham!

Rice Assures PA: More to Come

(IsraelNN.com) American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Arab leaders on Thursday that the United States will pressure Israel to conduct further expulsions. She told the New York Times she "empathizes" with the pain of Israelis but "it cannot be Gaza only."Palestinian Authority (PA) national security advisor Jibril Rajoub told a London-based Arab newspaper that Rice assured him Israel will make further concessions.

U.S. praises Gaza pullout, says will strengthen Israel-U.S. ties

CRAWFORD, Texas - The White House on Thursday praised Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip as a bold move that will strengthen ties between Israel and the United States.
...Rice: Israel's evacuation of the Gaza Strip is only a first step
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday said that while she feels for evacuated settlers Israel will be expected to make further concessions that would ultimately lead to an independent Palestinian state."Everyone empathizes with what the Israelis are facing," Rice said, but added "It cannot be Gaza only."

Government of the 'Erev Rav'

Dov Bar-Leib said...

Letters of intent to form this present evil government of the Erev Rav were signed by UTJ (United Torah Judaism) on the ninth or Tenth of Tevet. The tsunami occurred the following week, and the government was established on the 23rd of Tevet this year. Sharon's government would have assuredly collapsed if not for UTJ's participation. This is all open for the public record.

Nebuchadnezzar's siege of Yerushalayim lasted 2 1/2 years. I do not know if that means that this siege should last that long or not. There are many amongst UTJ's governing council that were against their joining this government from the beginning. The Admor of Sadigora and the Erloir Rebbe, just to name two, valiantly tried to prevent UTJ's entrance into the government until after Sharon called for new elections. Yet, their pleas would not sway those who decided to join.

I, personally, do not feel worthy enough (as a matter of fact I am heartbroken to write this) to take on Rabbanim that others here and in America say are their Gedolim. Yet, the fact is that the siege of Jerusalem began on the Tenth of Tevet 5765 when this Erev Rav government was constituted.

'Erev Rav' Behavior
Across the world the story flew and how eagerly it was caught up and embraced by those who want to think the worst of Klal Yisrael and love to condemn. And even despite the halacha that it is forbidden to listen to lashon hara even if it is true, how much more so when it has not yet been proven to be true!

Condemnations for acid attack on police by anti-disengagement youths flood in from across political spectrum

Knesset Member Shaul Yahalom, head of the Mafdal Party, said that activists "shamed religious Zionism and the kippa on their head." The Mafdal distances itself from them and emphasizes that the group is made up of loose cannons at the margins of the camp, who do not represent a thing, and only cause damage.

They are the real Zionists.

There is nothing wrong with Tel Avivians flocking to cafes during pullout

"...we are the real Zionists. We are the guardians of democracy,...."

And by all that's holy, it's true! They made a god out of Zionism and a matching god of democracy. Those gods must be smashed and the sons and daughters of Ya'akov must take this country back!

"...when Tel Aviv coffee shops are empty; that will truly mean judgment day is here."
Now that Hamas is taking control of Gaza, we may not have long to wait to find out how true this statement is.

U.S. Jews welcome Musharraf

Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf participated Saturday night in a festive dinner hosted in his honor by the World Jewish Congress in New York.

Musharraf was greeted by a standing ovation by hundreds of U.S. Jewish leaders, who gathered to congratulate the Pakistani leader for opening public diplomatic contacts with Israel following the disengagement from Gaza and the northern West Bank.

...The dinner began with two blessings, one Jewish, one Muslim.

...Musharraf stressed that Jerusalem's fate represents the most sensitive issue within any future resolution.

"Nothing is more sensitive than the fate of the holy city of Jerusalem, al-Quds or al-Sharif as we call it. This city is holy to the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims," he said. "Any future settlement in Jerusalem must consider and respect Jerusalem's cosmopolitan character, as well as international law and decisions made by the Security Council."

..."We hope Israel will soon withdraw from the West Bank, a move which will enable the establishment of a Palestinian independent state....."

Musharraf thanked the World Jewish Congress President Edgar M. Bronfman for holding the event, describing it as "an exceptional opportunity."

...The President of the Jewish Congress, Jack Rosen said that "tonight's event represents the outcome of a two-year's effort." Rosen said he discussed the initiative with President Bush several weeks ago, stating that the president was thrilled about it, and said he considered it to be a significant opportunity.

Our Jihad (23.08.05)

(Re-post from the former Jewish Jihad)

23 AUGUST 2005

Our "Jihad"

From An Anthology of the Gaon by Rabbi Moshe Tzuriel:

The purpose in our bringing about the ingathering of the exiles is to set up faithful people for the sake of the unification of the two moshiachs (i.e., Moshiach Ben Yosef and Moshiach Ben Dovid) in the gates of Jerusalem.

This is in order to return the Divine Presence to bring about the redemption, the true redemption and sanctification of God's Name. According to our teacher, the Vilna Gaon, z"l, we can bring about, with the help of God and through these strong people, these two moshiachs, and to learn well all the levels and their purposes in practical terms.

The general purpose of the two moshiachs, Moshiach Ben Yosef and Moshiach Ben Dovid, throughout all the generations has been to protect and fight against the three 'heads' of the K'lipos, Eisav, Yishmael, and the Erev Rav.

The specific role of Moshiach Ben Yosef is against Eisav who is the k'lipah of the left, the main purpose of Moshiach Ben Dovid is against Yishmael, the k'lipah of the right, and together they go against Eisav and Yishmael who are the ox and the donkey from the side of impurity. The joining of Eisav and Yishmael is the result of Armelius, the sar of the Erev Rav, who are able to destroy Israel and the entire world, may God have mercy.

The main drive of the Erev Rav is to unify Eisav and Yishmael and to separate the two moshiachs. Therefore, our main service and battle is to break and to remove the strength of the Erev Rav, the k'lipah of Armelius the Evil, from Israel; the Erev Rav is our greatest enemy, the one who separates the two moshiachs.

The k'lipah of the Erev Rav works only through deception and roundabout ways. Therefore, the war against the Erev Rav is the most difficult and bitterest of all. We must strengthen ourselves for this war, and anyone who does not participate in the battle against the Erev Rav becomes, de facto, a partner with the k'lipah of the Erev Rav, and was better off not being born in the first place.

(Kol HaTor, Chapter 2, Section 2, Letter 'bais')

It is clear from the previous posts [see Who is the Enemy?, Identifying the 'Erev Rav', parts 1, 2, 3, and 4, and The 'Erev Rav' and Redemption, ...] who or what is the Erev Rav and how it is our duty to wage war upon them.

This is primarily a battle for hearts and minds. The Erev Rav are klipot and we know from Chazal that the klipot are parasitic, i.e. they can only exist through attachment to a source of kedushah---holiness and purity.

Once we have determined who or what constitutes the Erev Rav and withdraw from them---completely separating ourselves from them---they will collapse and die on their own.

Practically speaking, this means the elimination of religious parties from the Knesset; the banning of MKs from participation in demonstrations; the cessation of appeals to the Knesset and the High Court and a breaking with "Democratic Principles" in general.

The Yesha Council and other organs of the State (including their supporters) must be held suspect and we must distance ourselves from them all. Jewish soldiers should withdraw from the IDF and an army of Hashem should be created and trained for a day of need according to Torah principles.

THIS IS JEWISH JIHAD.

IT BEGINS WITH THE EREV RAV AND IT'S TIME HAS COME.

GET TO WORK. SPREAD THE WORD.

"We must strengthen ourselves for this war, and anyone who does not participate in the battle against the Erev Rav becomes, de facto, a partner with the k'lipah of the Erev Rav, and was better off not being born in the first place. (Kol HaTor, Chapter 2, Section 2, Letter 'bais') "

Thoughts Over Shabbat

The following occurred to me over Shabbat:

It occurred to me that in the wake of Rav Nati Ozeri's murder at his Shabbat table by an Arab terrorist, when government officers came one night at 11 pm to evict his widow and orphans and they refused to let them take any of their personal belongings before bulldozing them along with the home (on Hill 26 outside Kiryat Arba) which he had built with his own hands, and took the family without possessions or even proper dress and dropped them in the middle of Jerusalem at 3 am to walk to the grandparents home, and none of us raised an outcry or a protest, that this had "opened the door" to future similar atrocities elsewhere in the Land of Israel.

It occurred to me that when government officers arrived to Tapuach HaMa'aravi with bulldozers and tractors and began violently and against all resistance to dismantle and destroy a brand-new beit knesset, and none of us raised an outcry or a protest, that this had "opened the door" to future similar atrocities elsewhere in the Land of Israel.

When we fail to defend the ONE, they come for the hundreds, and if we fail to defend the hundreds, they will come for the thousands. At some point, apathy, ambivalence, inaction and retreat will put us into a corner where the only choice is to fight or to surrender. It is forbidden to depend on miracles.

A WARNING--- (Yekhezkel 35:14-36:5)

Thus said the Lord [speaking to Edom]...'When all the earth rejoices [over the destruction of Gush Katif---how many congratulatory letters did Sharon receive?], I will make you desolate. In accordance with your rejoicing that the heritage of the House of Israel had become desolate, so will I do to you; you shall be desolate, Mount Seir and every bit of Edom! Then they will know that I am Hashem.'

...Because the enemy has said against you, 'Hurrah! The heights of the world [Eretz Yisrael] have become a heritage for us!'---therefore, prophesy and say, 'Thus says the Lord...Because, and again because there was astonishment and craving for you from all around, for you to become a heritage for the rest of the nations, and you were taken up on every lip of each nation as the subject of people's disparagement, therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord...to the desolate ruins and to the forlorn cities, which have become a scorn and derision for the remaining nations all around---therefore, thus said the Lord...I swear that I have spoken in the fire of My vengefulness against the remaining nations and against all Edom, who have arrogated My land to themselves as a heritage with the joy of all their heart, with contempt of soul, because of Israel's expulsion [note the Hebrew migrasha] in scorn.
---(Joel 4:19)

Egypt [a partner to the crime] will become a desolation and Edom [America, who instigated it] will become a desolate wilderness; because of the robbery of the children of Judah.... [Aza belongs to Shevet Yehudah]

Food Catastrophe

I just finished cleaning up the worst food catastrophe of my life, except this stuff refuses to be cleaned. My fingers are sticking to the keyboard. Lesson, never trust a recipe if it sounds too easy. Compare it to a couple of others just to be safe.

I love peppermint sticks, but I haven't had any in years and years because, to my knowledge, there isn't any in Israel. I got the idea to look up a recipe online and I found one that sounded really simple. It even came with a recommendation from some guy who made them with his son on a rainy day. No mention of any special skill needed or special problems resulting.

The next thing was to find peppermint extract here. Janglo gave me the answer to that. One store in all of Jerusalem had just one bottle. I made a special trip and it didn't come cheap. I rationalized the expense by telling myself I'd give bunches of them for Chanukah treats.

I kept putting it off. I couldn't find a good block of time to devote to it, but then I realized Chanukah is not that far away now, so tonight was the night. OMG!

The first problem was that I don't think I cooked it long enough. The recipe said til hardball stage (that's candy-maker speak for a high temperature, but I don't have a candy thermometer). I know softball because I make fudge. Hardball is just harder right? Only I find out much later that it really should have been softcrack ( a higher temp still). Go figure!

I divide the candy mixture into two greased platters as instructed and begin to add blue food coloring to half of it (red is too much like xmas). Only thing, this blue food coloring came out brown and smelled suspiciously like vanilla. AGH! It's ruined, so I quickly divide the other half into smaller halves and quickly add red food coloring because I can't trust my eyes to find blue this late at night.

It was already cool to touch, so I started mixing in the food coloring with my hands. OMG! The recipe said to form it into ropes. It said nothing at all about "pulling" the candy like the other recipes I checked out after the fact. OR USING PLASTIC GLOVES!!!

The more I tried to pull it off my hands the more they got stuck. I couldn't even wipe it off on the edge of the platter. Then my glasses started sliding down my nose. I tried to push them back up with my forearm, but then one ear piece came loose and then there was no stopping them going plop into the goo that I wasn't able to scrape out of the platter.

I finally gave up trying to salvage the disaster and threw about half of the stuff onto a greased cutting board. The rest I tried to wash off my hands with soap and very hot water. OMG! I had pink candy coated dishes all over the kitchen. I gave up trying to keep the red and white separate. (I figured if I get out of this one, to heck with the alternating colors.)

The pot I cooked it in was so glued to one of the platters that I actually thought it was stuck there for good. The stuff that was stuck onto my glasses was like cement. But the wad of goo itself wasn't getting hard.

The dishes are all cleaned now and my glasses survived, thank G-d. There are three pink puddles on my glass cutting board, but I'm afraid to touch it. I think I'll just leave it there and see what happens when my granddaughter sees it in the morning.

I've lost any desire I had for peppermint.

See What You've Wrought?

All you "Modern" Orthodox who voted for the clean-shaven Chiloni? But then, what am I saying? You wouldn't see the shame in this, would you? You probably think it's a great idea. I mean, it would mean MONEY for the capitol, right??? G-d help us!!

Jerusalem mayor looks to bring Hollywood to the Holy City

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat recently met with six major Hollywood producers in an effort to persuade them to begin producing films in the capital.

The night I heard him say to a "Modern" Orthodox crowd, "There are the Hareidim and then there are the people like us," I hated him because he was distinguishing between Jew and Jew and causing an unnecessary division. Bu then, those who had come to hear him didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Maybe he was right. Maybe I was just in the wrong crowd that night.

Welcome Back to Baghdad

President George W Bush made a surprise trip to Baghdad today. He received an unusual 'welcome' from one of the journalists covering his press conference.

Feiglin---Right Idea (almost), Wrong Approach

The schizophrenic nature of this essay does not detract from its usefulness, but it does serve to illustrate why Manhigut Yehudit doesn't give up trying to harness the Likud as a means for riding into leadership, no matter how much evidence accrues to the contrary.

Excerpt from If We Desire Life - Part I
(Part 2, Part 3, Part 4)

The state-orientated approach, the positive and romantic attitude towards the renewal of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel, even if it does not yet acknowledge the Creator, is legitimate and under certain conditions may even be reasonable. However, there is apparently a mutation of this approach that is riding without checks and balanceson the carriage of Zionism and the State. For many in the Religious Zionist community, this fascist approach that regards the State of Israel and its institutions as a supreme value has become real idol worship. Precisely the best and most devoted people have fallen into the trap of several populist rabbis and adopted this form of idolatry.
A stranger observing how the evictors and the evictees fell into each other's arms against the background of the destruction, or how a very well-known rabbi hit and pushed a resident of N'vei Dekalim who dared to try and block the path of a sacred vehicle (an IDF jeep) that came to destroy his home, would come to the conclusion that he was in a madhouse.

The State is, in fact, sacred and the IDF is a sacred tool. However, they cannot replace the Creator and they are capable of every abomination. Those who, at a time of crisis and conflict between the laws of the State and those of the Creator (or their personal consciences), choose those of the State are destroying their scale of values and degenerating into idolatry. In my humble opinion, the settlements were establishedon the basis of this form of idolatry and for this reason, they were destroyed.

If we desire life, we must clarify in depth the issue of State supremacy and its limits.
An enlightening article based on the teachings of the Maharal of Prague by Rav Aryeh Carmell can bring a lot of clarity to these ideas:

"...Maharal affirms that the coming of the Messiah is not, as often thought a sudden event; it is a process. The "Holy kingdom of Israel" - Maharal's term for the reign of the Messiah will emerge from an earlier, non-holy kingdom.

...Maharal, in a telling parable, describes the relationship between the embryonic "kingdom of Israel" and its "Edomite" environment: Fruit grows within a husk; when the fruit ripens the husks falls off... So it is with Israel. Their kingdom emerges and grows from within the kingdom of the nations i.e., from the existential power of the kingdom of the nations, and from their level, it raises itself to a higher level. And when the kingdom of Israel reaches complete maturity the kingdom of nations is removed, just as the husk is removed, and falls off when the fruit reaches its perfection.

...The Messianic revolution will take place in the hearts and minds of the people. The "falling off of the husk" does not refer to a political or military event, nor does "kingdom of the nations" refer to a political entity. The husk refers to the value system of the Western world. The falling off of the husk signifies the victory of spirituality over materialism, faith in G-d over unbounded trust in one's own power, and awareness of divine providence over belief in blind chance.

...the 'Messianic Kingdom' must begin its career as part of Western civilization, but can reach its full potential only by rejecting those aspects of that civilization which are destructive to Torah life. This husk must fall off for the Messianic ideal to be revealed in all its purity. ...Perhaps the fruit represents those lives which are committed to avodat haShem, the service of G-d in the broadest possible sense. They constitute the nascent Messianic period before the kingdom is revealed for all to see, for it is they who, by rejecting the values of the Fourth Empire are casting off its husks and making it possible for the Messiah to become manifest.

Thus there are two processes advancing simultaneously. There is our effort down here to advance the messianic goals, and there is the action of divine providence - in the guise of human political decisions - to weaken the husk... until suddenly, the "end" will be reached, the husk will fall off, the revolution will arrive and the Messiah will be revealed. What emerges from this discussion is the ripening of the Messianic fruit in our human hand. As the fruit ripens, Divine Providence weakens the husk, and the Kingdom of G-d is poised to make its appearanceon the stage of history.

My advice---Stop hedging on the truth in order to curry political favor, i.e., gain a following and conceal crucial positions to avoid an unwanted backlash. Hold the banner of truth high and you will draw the strongest in faith to your side. Reject the system entirely and withdraw from it. It will collapse under its own rot if your pillar of truth no longer holds it up and lends it legitimacy.

"Not at Any Price"

Yaalon on Returning Shalit: Not at any Price

"...He stressed that Israel should not pay too high a price for Shalit, since doing so would encourage terrorists to kidnap more soldiers."

Who needs to "pay" a price? Let's start exacting a price!

To begin with NO prisoner releases. No conjugal visits, no contact with family, no tv, complete lockdown, bread and water only. And then we can sit down and decide what price they will be required to pay for not releasing Gilad.

What, the world will scream? Who the h--l cares? There's a captive Jew that needs rescuing---one way or another.

Poignant Excerpts from Jewish Jihad

17 AUGUST 2005

As reported in Manhigut Yehudit's weekly update:
The following is a true story, told to me in first person: The chief prosecutor in one of the many court cases against the protestors recognized one of the defendants as his childhood friend. They began to debate when the prosecutor said, "We will push you into a corner and then you will have to choose between G-d and between the State.

Some Serious Truth

Although I view Manhigut Yehudit's methods for attaining power to be hopeless and disagree with their ideas for how to bring the nation into submission to Torah Law, I certainly can agree with their assessment of the nature of our shared struggle:

"It is not by chance that Islam refers to Israel as "the little Satan " and to the US as "the great Satan." In Arab eyes, Israel's war against the Arabs is the invasion of Western civilization into their territory. Israel represents -- and at this point also sees itself -- as the foundation of Western values and culture in the Middle East.

...Only Judaism has the correct balance between the cruel strength of Islam and the excessive, warped pacifism of the West. "

Baruch Dayan Emet

(Ynetnews) Former Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu ruled Sunday that Jews should tear their clothes in a traditional sign of mourning as the last Israeli soldier leaves the Gaza Strip.

(Ynetnews) The IDF has concluded a farewell ceremony in the Gaza Strip, and the final Israeli soldiers and equipment are expected to leave Gaza soon.

Jewish Gaza is no more ... riiiiiiiiip .... Baruch Dayan Emet---blessed be the True Judge.

Is "The State" the "Golden Calf" of the 'Erev Rav'?

They are called 'Erev Rav' because they are the heads of the Jews in exile, and therefore they are called 'rav.' (Likutim HaGra)
"Before the arrival of Moshiach, most of the rabbis will be from the Erev Rav, ...." (Divrei Chaim, Parashas Vayakhel, 'Omissions')

In the holy book Toldot Yakov Joseph (Parshat Nasso) written by Rav Yaakov Joseph of Polnoye, of blessed memory, says that now in the years of the coming of Mashiach the evil inclination concentrates on the leaders and Rabbis and not on each individual, because if the leaders fall into the net of the evil inclination thereby straying from the right path, then they will bring down with them the masses that follow those leaders.

Moshe Feiglin is no 'Erev Rav', although in the following thoughtful and thought-provoking article he inadvertently identifies many of them.

If We Desire Life
by: Moshe Feiglin

...We could have learned virtually all of today's lessons after the destruction of Yamit and the other Sinai settlements. But we didn't. Instead, we continued to follow the same leaders -- Begin, Sharon, and Refael Eitan -- who destroyed Yamit, and the same leaders and rabbis of the Religious Zionist camp who avoided looking reality in the eye and changing their way of thinking. In Gush Katif, we reaped the results of our refusal to deal with the reality of the expulsion from Sinai. If we do not do serious and penetrating soul searching now, we will continue to reap more expulsions.

Those proposing original suggestions will be attacked by supporters of a specific sector who will accuse them of deviation from the true path and ruining things for everyone. The same rabbis who gave the keys to Gush Katif to Chief of Staff Halutz and Police Chief Karadi (who justifiably now praise them) will continue to confuse the young people and explain that we have actually won and that we should not fear a long road, at the end of which Redemption will come...

The very same Yesha Council will continue to organize for the same public the same useless demonstrations that achieve nothing except the perpetuation of their leadership. The very same MKs (who generally came from the same Yesha Council) will propose to the leaderless public the identical political platform that failed in the past, and will lead it again to the same collective failure (and personal success).

There is no alternative. Despite the tremendous desire not to argue and to avoid conflict, we must confront ourselves and do the soul searching that the Religious Zionist establishment will not volunteer to carry out of its own accord.

...For many in the Religious Zionist community, this fascist approach that regards the State of Israel and its institutions as a supreme value, has become real idol worship. Precisely the best and most devoted people have fallen into the trap of several populist rabbis and adopted this form of idolatry.

A stranger observing how in Netzarim the commander of the eviction forces was given the honor of being the Sandak (godfather) in a circumcision ceremony the day before the perpetration of the crime, or how the evictors and the evictees fell into each other's arms against the background of the destruction, or how a very well-known rabbi hit and pushed a resident of Neveh Dekalim who dared to try and block the path of a sacred vehicle (an IDF jeep) that came to destroy his home, would come to the conclusion that he was in a madhouse.

...In my humble opinion the settlements were established on the basis of this form of idolatry, and for this reason were destroyed.

14 SEPTEMBER 2005

(Bamidbar 33:51-56)

Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan, you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their temples, destroy their molten idols, and demolish their high places. You shall clear out the Land and settle in it, for I have given you the Land to occupy it.

... But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the Land from before you, then those whom you leave over will be as spikes in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the land in which you settle. And it will be that what I had intended to do to them, I will do to you
.

For anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear and a mouth to proclaim it throughout the world, THIS is why we have now been driven out of Gaza and THIS is why our places of worship lie in ruins!!

"Settling" the Land without driving out the Arabs was NEVER enough and hear me clearly---driving them out without destroying their places of false worship is ALSO not enough!! Know this in advance because when Ben David comes, he will give orders to do it.

And make no mistake!! This applies as much to churches as it does to mosques!!!!!

This is an obligation not on individuals, but upon the nation. This is JEWISH jihad!

Do not blame the Arab enemy, the blame rests upon us and our leaders. It is for THIS that we must do teshuva this Elul.

JEWISH JIHAD (4-7 Aug 2005)

Bnei Yisrael, the Children of Promise

(Yehoshua 5:1-2, 7-11) "...the Lord said to Yehoshua ben Nun, ...arise cross this Jordan, you and all this nation, to the land which I give the children of Israel.

...be strong and very courageous to observe and do in accordance with all of the Torah that Moshe My servant has commanded you. Do not stray therefrom right or left, in order that you succeed wherever you go.

This book of the Torah shall not leave your mouth; you shall meditate therein day and night, in order that you observe to do all that is written in it, for then will you succeed in all your ways and then will you prosper.

Did I not command you, be strong and have courage, do not fear and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

And Yehoshua commanded the officers of the nation, saying:

Go through the midst of the camp and command the nation saying: Prepare provision for yourselves, for in another three days you will cross this Jordan to come and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you to inherit."

Bnei Yisrael! It is time to scrap the Israel Defense Forces and re-create the army of HaShem Tzvakot that engages in milchemet mitzvah.

Just as the Zionism which viewed Eretz Yisrael as a safe haven from anti-semites is dead, so too is the idea of an army which exists solely to defend against aggressors.

Just as the presence of neo-nazis in Israel has proven the fallacy of the first premise, so too has the onslaught of terrorism on our own soil proven the failure of defense to provide security.

"...Do not stray there from right or left, in order that you succeed wherever you go."

'Settling' the Land was only half of the mitzvah...

Devarim 7:1-2, 16-21:

"When the Lord, your God, brings you into the land to to which you are coming to possess it, He will cast away many nations from before you: ...nations more numerous and powerful than you.

And the Lord, your God, will deliver them to you, and you shall smite them. You shall utterly destroy them; neither shall you make a covenant with them, nor be gracious to them.

... And you shall consume all the peoples which the Lord your God gives you; you shall not spare them, nor shall you worship their gods, for that will be a snare for you.

Will you say to yourself, "These nations are more numerous than I; how will I be able to drive them out"?

You shall not fear them. You shall surely remember what the Lord, your God, did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt:

The great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm with which the Lord, your God, brought you out. So will the Lord, Your God, do to all the peoples you fear.

And also the tzir'ah, the Lord, your God, will incite against them, until the survivors and those who hide from you perish.

You shall not be terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, Who is in your midst, is a great and awesome God."

Are we the children of Yehoshua, the inheritors of the promises made to Yaakov? Then we must act like it! We must conquer this Land as if we are the owners and not simply unwelcome guests as over the centuries in galuth.

If we will believe it, then our enemies will begin to believe it as well.

Why are we losing Gaza?

Motzaei"sh Rosh Chodesh Av
As God-fearing people we are taught that nothing happens to us that does not first receive permission from Heaven. It stands to reason then that if an evil decree is issued against us, we must have done something to deserve it. And the only way to avert it is to repent of the causative error. Hence, the question we only have ten days to answer for ourselves is...

Why are we losing Gaza?

See, it's not enough to cry out to God and assure him of our general sorrow and aim to repent. We have to confess our specific sin, take every possible action to correct it and resolve not to repeat it. This is the repentance necessary to avert an evil decree like the mass expulsion of 8,000 plus Jews from the Gaza District of Eretz Yisrael.

On one hand the answer is very simple and obvious, but on the other, it is very difficult to accept in this day and at this time in history. The very parshah we all read in the synagogue today tells us...

".. if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the Land from before you, then those whom you leave over will be as spikes in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the land in which you settle. And it will be that what I had intended to do to them, I will do to you. (Bamidbar 33:55-56)

The Artscroll commentary says:

"God declares that the Jews must rid the Land of the corrosive Canaanite presence, and if they fail to do so, they will suffer the fate God had intended to impress upon the Canaanites, and be driven out. (Rashbam)"

We don't really need to identify today's Palestinians as ancient Canaanites in order to see that since we did not drive them out in 1967, we are today being driven out before them.

In the forty years that Jews have been resettling Gaza, has anyone made any efforts toward fulfilling this Torah commandment? Or did the Jews of Gaza, like the rest of the Jewish people throughout the Land of Israel, repeat the same mistakes of the ancient past by allowing these people to remain and even encouraging them through offers of employment? Some Gazan Jews have commended themselves for their humanity in going so far as to even socialize with Palestinians over the years.

It is for this that teshuva must be done and for the hubris which made us think we knew better than the Lord of the Land---HaShem.

So, why are we losing Gaza with the Northern Shomron to follow? Very simply because two opposing peoples cannot live together in this Land. Either they must go or we will. Either we drive them out or HaShem will drive us out. That is the Torah direct from the mouth of God.

Can thousands of Jews reach this conclusion and wholeheartedly embrace these words in the ten days that are left to us? That is the first step. If HaShem sees we mean business, perhaps He will show mercy and defer the expulsion until we can take the second step---the establishment of a Jewish government which will enact this Torah Law for the benefit of the Jewish people on every inch of soil in the Jewish homeland.

If the very idea is too much for you to wrap your brain around and you would prefer to give up Gaza rather than go to the next level of the redemption process, then there's no real hope to stop it. We are forbidden to depend upon miracles and right now, short of true repentance, that's all we've got.

With great hope until the very end~

2008 UPDATE: Have we learned anything in the last three years? Or must we relive it yet again with Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem?

Borders - for starters

Has Livni buried the two-state solution of Israel-Palestinian dispute?

"...The Palestinians negate the basic premise of a Palestinian state within the pre-1967 Six-day War borders - the conventional wisdom of US and European diplomacy though not enshrined in any maps or international accords.

The Palestinians are demanding nothing less than Israel's retreat to the 1949 armistice lines and in some places the UN 1947 Partition Plan plus the Right of Return for all Palestinian refugees...."

I think we should agree to negotiate back to the 1923 borders. I wouldn't have a problem with that.

...we non-religious Israelis also have a dream. We want to live in an enlightened, open and just country, not in some messianic, rabbinic monarchy, and not in the whole land of Israel. We came here to be a free people in our own land.

To be a free people means each person is entitled to choose which parts of Jewish tradition are important to him, and which to leave behind. It means to have the freedom to run our country according to our free will, rather than rabbinic dictates.

It means recognizing we are not alone in this land and demanding from the Palestinians that they do the same.

It means to free ourselves, once-and-for-all, from the nightmare of being an occupying, uprooting, exploiting, settling, expropriating, humiliating, discriminatory country.

For more than 30 years, the settlers' dream has choked the dream of free Israelis. The dream of the whole land of Israel and a messianic kingship drains daily the hope of being a people free to build a just society.

... I can say (to the settlers) : The pain you are going through today is very similar to the pain you have put free Israel friends through for more than 30 years.

Extortion by sanctity
(Ha'aretz Op-Ed)

The High Court of Justice is to rule in the coming days on a petition by the rabbi of the settlement of Elei Sinai, Yishai Bar-Chen, who is asking the state to move the synagogue building in its entirety from the Gaza Strip to within the Green Line. This is a disingenuous petition which, like other petitions of the settlers, makes sophisticated use of liberal principles like individual and community rights in order to carry out deranged messianic acts.

The walls of the synagogues, their floors, roofs and any other part of the structure in which people pray, are neither sacred nor sacrosanct. There is no reason not to take the buildings apart, sell them or make any other use of them the state sees fit. In any case, the communities will bring out the synagogue's sacred objects and memorial plaques. But moving entire buildings just because they served for a time as synagogues will create a dangerous precedent that will show up the weakness of the institution of statehood in the face of the settlers' emotional blackmail.

Jerusalem Post Op-Eds (for 16 Av only):

(1) "...While there were certainly many Israelis who prayed for a miracle to block disengagement, the concerted hopes and prayers of the nation were for a different miracle: that no one would lose their lives in this dramatic internal confrontation.

Neither miracle was to be. Four Israeli Arabs in Shfaram and four Palestinian laborers in Shiloh were murdered by two Jewish terrorists. It is one of the perversities of this conflict that innocent Arabs would be killed by Jews to reverse a decision of the Jewish state.

...the tragedy is, both for the settlement movement and the nation as a whole, that the dignity and pathos of so many Gush Katif families has been overshadowed by a hooligan minority.

...the pointless atrocities of the riffraff who gathered on the roof of a Kfar Darom synagogue and threw paint, paint thinner and metal bars on the security forces who quietly, carefully and with incredible restraint, removed them from their stronghold.

(2) To the messianic rabbis, the blow dealt by disengagement is far more profound than for its other opponents, since to them it constitutes not only material loss and strategic decline but also a theological reversal. In their interpretation of history, the State of Israel was predestined to nurture, whether consciously or subconsciously, a redemption process.

That, and not the security concerns which they preferred to espouse in debates with secular audiences, is what made clergymen ...so harshly oppose disengagement. It is what made so many messianic rabbis deny the approach of what other Israelis realized long ago was actually well on its way. It is also why some of them scandalously called on soldiers to disobey orders, or even preached disengagement from the State of Israel.

...no one group can exclusively claim God's mantle over where history should go.

(3) "Hundreds of families in the Gaza Strip are behaving today more like spoiled brats than like the resilient and courageous pioneers they think of themselves as being."
Well, you get the idea. The list is long and it gets much worse.

Names that will go down in infamy...

His/Her "Honors"
Very interesting that during the week of Parshat Shoftim the eyes of the nation were upon the Israeli High Court of (In)Justice to see how they would rule regarding the destruction of the synagogues left in Aza.

In the Supreme Court in Jerusalem there is a group of people who have imposed a regime of judicial terror on the believing public in Israel. ...We must realize that there are no judges in Jerusalem. ... The Israeli judicial system does not provide a remedy for the distortions but is itself their source. If we desire life, we must disengage from this criminal band. We must understand what degree of evil we are confronting, and not make use of their services. (Moshe Feiglin in If We Desire Life .)

NOTE THAT THE 'EREV RAV' ARE ALWAYS CONCERNED FOR THEIR OWN HONOR.

Pines Concerned With Supreme Court's Honor
Sep 11, '05 / 7 Elul 5765

(IsraelNN.com) Interior Minister (Labor) Ofir Pines had angry words for his fellow ministers who now represent a majority, opposed to the destruction of Gaza's synagogues. Pines maintains that following last week's High Court of Justice ruling giving the go-ahead for destroying the synagogues, the government's change of heart is an affront to the nation's highest court. The minister added that the cabinet ministers could have changed their position a moment before the final appeal was submitted to the High Court but such a move is unacceptable now, after the court has issued its ruling.

Mazuz Embarrassed by Gov's Change of Position Regarding Synagogues

Amalekian Alliances

THE EREV RAV ARE AMALEK AND THEY ARE MIXED WITH ISRAEL AND THEY WILL BE BLOTTED OUT

But AMALEK, who are the first born of Mitzraim and The EREV RAV mixed among the Jews, it is written about them (Devarim 25:19) "You shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek."

'Erev Rav' Attack on Jerusalem

Here is another list of 'Erev Rav' names. It is the Board of Directors and Board of Advisors of the Pave the Way Foundation. According to Lazer Beams and The Mount Zion Situation's website, these "Jews" are leading the Vatican in the war to take Holy Jerusalem from the Jewish people.

What could be more 'Erev-Ravian' than that? (See their Mission Statement.) {Note: Page is no longer accessible.}

More 'Erev Rav' "rabbis" identified:
Rabbi Benjamin Blech of Yeshiva University sits on the Pave the Way Foundation's Board of Advisors.

These Rabbis have also been involved with the Pave the Way Foundation's efforts on past projects

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Chief Rabbi of Efrat, Israel
Rabbi Adam Mintz, president of the New York Board of Rabbis
Rabbi Shmuel Rene Sirot, Past Chief Rabbi of Europe and France
Rabbi David Lincoln, Chief Rabbi of the Park Avenue Synagogue, New York
Rabbi Joseph Arbib of the Great Synagogue in Rome

If you recognize any of the names of these supporters, better let them know what they are really involved with...

"In the holy book Toldot Yakov Joseph (Parshat Nasso) written by Rav Yaakov Joseph of Polnoye, of blessed memory, says that now in the years of the coming of Mashiach the evil inclination concentrates on the leaders and Rabbis and not on each individual, because if the leaders fall into the net of the evil inclination thereby straying from the right path, then they will bring down with them the masses that follow those leaders."
"Before the arrival of Moshiach, most of the rabbis will be from the Erev Rav,.... "(Divrei Chaim, Parashas Vayakhel, 'Omissions')

Food for Thought

A very big part of the problem with Yisrael being attached to the kingdom of Edom at the 'End of Days' is the Jewish assimilation of ideas foreign to Torah.

Ideas like the rights of the individual, the brotherhood of mankind, equality of the sexes and so forth are some of the foundational "truths" of western civilization which have no basis in reality. Without debating these points, let me get right to the crux of the most pressing problem for Yisrael today. It is not only a mitzvah, a commandment from HaShem, but an obvious necessity for us to rid our Land of the non-Jews---the "civilized" westerner (Eisav) no less than the "barbaric" easterner (Yishmael).

I won't go into the issue of the seven nations at this time since it is quite detailed and already much discussed, but I'd like us to take under consideration some remarks of the Sifri on "allowed" non-Jews in Eretz Yisrael as brought down by Rav Kahane in Ohr Hara'ayon (Vol 2):

"It is clear that there is an absolute prohibition on giving a non-Jew mastery over Eretz Yisrael, and that a non-Jew, whoever he may be, has an entirely different status from that of Israel, who are the owners of the Land, Eretz Yisrael. The non-Jew is nothing but an alien, a stranger, a temporary occupant, and not an owner. Only within well-defined principles and laws is it permissible for him to dwell in Eretz Yisrael, even as an alien and occupant. (p. 589)

"We must realize that even if a non-Jew submits properly and is allowed to live in the Land, his residence is still restricted. ...If a non-Jew sincerely wishes to be a resident alien, to abandon idolatry and undertake the seven Noahide laws, thereby sanctifying G-d's name, better that he should do this and live in Eretz Yisrael than to live outside the Land as an idolater and profane G-d's name. Clearly, however, all this applies only if he accepts conditions guaranteeing that he remain isolated from Israel, and ensuring his understanding that Eretz Yisrael is the exclusive land of the Jewish people and that he has only the right to reside there.

"Therefore, besides the conditions enumerated above, the Torah established additional restrictions. First Sifri says (Ki Tetse, 259), 'In your midst': And not on the border.' The reason for this is simple. We still suspect him lest he aid the enemy and endanger us. Second, Sifri teaches, '[To reside]...in your gates' (Deut. 23:17): In your gates and not in Jerusalem.' Jerusalem's holiness cannot bear the impurity of a non-Jew, hence, even a non-Jew allowed to live everywhere else in Eretz Yisrael is forbidden to live in the Holy City. It would seem that to live there while passing through is permitted, for that is not called 'residence.' "

"Sifri also teaches: 'He shall be allowed to reside with you: And not in the city itself.' I believe the simple interpretation of this is that although a particular non-Jew can be permitted to live in Eretz Yisrael 'with you,' for the reason noted above, we are still required to separate from him, hence we are forbidden to settle him among us in the same city with Jews." (p. 613-614)

Note we are "allowed" to make this dispensation (to let non-Jews live in EY), but there is no obligation to do so. (p. 615)

The extent to which any of these remarks disturb you, is the extent to which you have been assimilated into western norms. The nations were given the entire world and we were given Eretz Yisrael. To open it up to dominance by the nations, to 'democratically' take it over and create another nation in their own image is not an option. This is a unique Land created for a unique people in order for them to fulfill a unique destiny---Eretz Yisrael, Am Yisrael, Torat Yisrael.
