Rabbi Richter
A new holocaust movie premiered the first week in November: NUREMBERG | Official Trailer #1 (2025).
...I think it's a gift for everyone to be enlightened on some of these fascinating, fascinating conversations that happened [between Goring and his court-appointed psychiatrist]....Herman Guring was quite an intoxicating character that Douglas Kelly was inevitably enamored by, especially as a psychiatrist. He was trying to dissect evil and he had such conviction to do so. So when he discovered this benality of evil, I think he was really thrown and he could see these people as human beings and that's what he equated them to....but difficult to present scenes in which there's almost a bit of humor, that they're getting friendly, but it's so important to show the human side of this, isn't it?...And Guring's gonna use his charm and wit because Guring was notoriously a charming individual, which is not what you think of when you think of a Nazi, but he was um, he's going to use his charm to try and get something out of Kelly. And so I think it's a little bit of both men trying to probe each other and get something out. And they use humor to do it.
One person, via the comments section, made the point that it's good to recognize that the enemies suffered, too. And then there is the obligatory: "And now, here we are, All, watching Gaza!" Yep, they are so over the Shoah.

I have a copy of it, but I don't anticipate watching this movie anytime soo, I probably will at some point to try and determine what is meant by "justice is better than vengeance" and just how much of a propaganda piece it really is.
I recently used chatgpt to check some details about the Shoah. It gave very anodine answers. When pushed, it answered that it uses sources from western academia, and it admitted that western academia on the Shoah is a form of soft denial. And that it tries to be 'balanced'.
ReplyDeleteWatching Gaza., where the population has increased. Whilst tehre is actual genocide going on but noone cares.

Well, I don't know. In watching the Roundtable of the actors it sounds too much like trying to "humanize" those Nazi leaders.
ReplyDeleteThe actual photos and accounts of both survivors and those who rescued them are what is most important and relevant. KG
