"Al-Aqsa Flood"

That's what Yishmael calls it - meaning at the very heart of all that's going on, it's Amalek with his hand on the throne.  It's war against HKB"H and therefore, Eretz Yisrael, Am Yisrael and Torat Yisrael are the targets.

We see how the nations have gathered against the nation of Israel, and the antisemites against Jews wherever they may be, while inside Israel, Jerusalem is front and center while the chareidim, particularly families and yeshivah students are being made to pay the price for all.

This is Amalek fighting to unseat HKB"H from His very throne in the city where His presence dwelt and where He chose to establish His Name for all time.

When the slaughter of rabbis in one of the most religious areas of Jerusalem was carried out yesterday, it had only been two days since we read in the synagogue...

When Hashem, your God, gives you rest from all your enemies all around, in the Land that Hashem, your God, gives you as an inheritance to possess it, you shall wipe out the memory of Amalek from under the Heaven - you shall not forget!" 

Not only have we forgotten about the command to wipe out Amalek, we have even forgotten the command to defeat the enemies all around us and possess this Land.  The murderers came right out of the tribal portion of Binyamin which the ruling regime has refused to claim and where the nations of the world demand we establish a terror state for a non-people whom they call Palestinians.

The eclipse was given for a sign that all is not right here.  But, we can make it right.  We have to make it right.  If you vote in an election for people who refuse to acknowledge the sovereignty of HKB"H over thie Land and over this People and refuse to carry out His commands, as has been the practice of all the elected leaders of this country since 1948, you are also responsible for their sins and the tragedies that follow on from them.

It's well and good to talk about personal teshuvah during Elul, but the reality is that in Eretz Yisrael, we have national responsibilities which require national teshuvah.

A phenomenal thing happened as a result of the terror attack yesterday.  Two men came forward to defend the people and killed the terrorists.  They were both chareidi and both were armed.  One was an IDF commander in the chareidi brgade and the other was a yeshivah student on his way to learn.

There is a message here - that there is room for both, that each holds a place of honor, a true hero in every way - but it was lost on the secular media who chose to interview and mention only the IDF officer, completely ignoring the amazing fact of an armed yeshivah student who also was part of killing the terrorists.

On the same day that this occurred, the internal war did not even take a break...

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of the petition submitted by a left-wing organization against the continued subsidy of National Insurance (Bituach Leumi) payments for bnei yeshivos deemed “draft dodgers.”  (Source)

The only real consolation here is that if we continue to refuse to do the right thing, HKB"H is not going to wait for us forever.  There is very quickly coming a point at which the game is declared over and HKB"H will set it right Himself, but in that event, we will come to wish fervently that we had not let it come to this.  (See Yechezkel, chapter 20 and Tehillim 106.)
