Erev Shabbat Kodesh
Parashat Ha'azinu
Stone Edition Chumash Commentary on the Parashah (Devarim 32.40-41, 43)...
...God raises His hand in an oath that He will turn His anger against the persecutors of Israel, calling them My enemies, for those who attack Israel are attacking God, as well. When He considers the suffering inflicted upon Israel, He will sharpen His sword of judgment, as it were, for He will show no mercy to the pillagers of His people. As to their defense that they are blameless because they were only carrying out the Divine judgment, the prophet Zechariah (1:15) refutes such an argument: God was angry only to a small degree, but they unleashed their full measure of hatred without justification (Rashi).
...When the final redemption comes and the world sees that Israel is restored to its glory and its enemies are punished for what they did to it, the nations of the world will recognize and praise it as God's people (Rashi).
From the Haftarah (II Samuel 22.47-49)...
...Hashem lives, and blessed is my Rock; and exalted is God, Rock of my salvation. The God Who grants me vengeance, and brings peoples down beneath me. You Who bring me forth from my enemies, and raise me above my adversaries, from a man of violence You rescue me.
~ SHABBAT SHALOM ~
the R' Yosef Biton said that from now on the nations will experience judgment...So please come home our brothers and sisters! Shabbat Shalom!
ReplyDeleteDitto.
DeleteI've heard that some Jews wishing to flee France and the UK are planning to go the US. Yet more and more American Jews are planning on making aliya on account of the situation in the US. One Jew wrote that the older generations don't realise just how bad the antisemitism is amongst younger Americans.
ReplyDeleteI hope very much that there will be judgement on the nations, and not on the Jews, cos at the moment, literally Jihad was declared against us in a religious war, and against the Jews of the UK in particular. How else should the Manchester attack be understood.
A Dutch woman called the police on her Israeli neighbour, who has a medical condition, he looks frail, on a fabricated claim. TWELVE MUSLIM POLICE OFFICERS turned up and broke his ribs. Brighton a town in the UK, had its first Muslim mayor, Muhamed from Bangladesh, no joke, who can't string together a sentence in English.
Jews everywhere should stop looking at each occurrence as an isolated event, or as something happening to those Jews over there. Wherever a Jew is outside of Israel they should be liquidating their assets. Now would be the time for a Jewish genius to figure out how whole neighbourhoods can sell their properties at a reasonable price. When the Jews left the Arab countries, their properties became worthless. Why buy, when they would soon be deserted.
The best time to have planted a tree was twenty years ago, the next best time, is right now.
For those whose first reaction is 'can't' it's time to change the narrative to one of emuna: maybe i can't, but for sure Hashem can solve all of my challenges.

Excellent advice. Hope someone is listening.
DeleteSadly, after the Pittsburgh attack on the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, seven years ago, I wrote on a popular blog, that it was a turning point. No nevua, or presience on my part, just the simple facts. That flights may not always be readily available, that there could be mobs in teh streets, and no police. We've seen a preview of all of these in the last few years. And that it was time to pick up, pack up and sell up. Also that the aliya needs to be organised especially for Jews in vulnerable situations, no jew left behind.
DeleteTragically, the darkness of galut is very great.
It was never explained to me, why emuna applied to the challenges of corona, but not to the challenges of making aliya. Why people in challenging circumstances can't make some small effort, like getting a passport in order, making an aliya notebook of tasks, something, anything and asking Hashem for help, with health issues, financial issues, uncooperative family members, children off the derech, bureaucracy, whatever the block is. Thinking that there is any problem that Hashem cannot solve in the blink of an eye is apikorsut.
Still it's never to late to give up on Hashem's mercy. Before Rosh Hashana two years ago, I was by the Rambam in Tiveria, and davened a lot for geula and kibutz galuyot in comfort, Be'D no tefila goes to waste.
