Getting ready to greet Mashiach Tzidkeynu...
The six blessings to be said on seeing Mashiach:
1. Baruch Atah Hashem, Elokeynu Melech Ha'Olam ga'al Yisrael.
(Praising Hashem for redeeming Israel.)
2. Baruch Atah Hashem, Elokeynu Melech Ha'Olam shehecheyanu v'keyemanu v'higiyanu lazeman hazeh.
(Praising Hashem for allowing us to live to see this moment.)
3. Baruch Atah Hashem, Elokeynu Melech Ha'Olam shechalak mechoch'mato leyire'av.
(Praising Hashem on seeing an outstanding Torah scholar.)
4. Baruch Atah Hashem, Elokeynu Melech Ha'Olam shechalak mekevodo leyire'av.
(Praising Hashem on seeing a king.)
5. Baruch Atah Hashem, Elokeynu Melech Ha'Olam chacham harazim.
(Praising Hashem on seeing more than 600,000 Jews gathered in one place.)
6. Baruch Atah Hashem, ELokeynu Melech Ha'Olam HaTov v'HaMetiv.
(Praising Hashem "Who is good and Who does good".)
Maybe this is exactly how it's supposed to work, with yiyush at the end of days, but I'm finding it hard to take this seriously.
ReplyDeleteThose brachot come off a sheet I printed out in 2006 and put into my chumash until the right time. Will this Sukkot be the right time? I have no idea. Does it matter? Not really. I'll continue to keep the sheet until the time does come because only one thing is for sure and that is that Mashiach will absolutely come - if not today, then tomorrow, and if not tomorrow, then...someday and whenever that day is it will be the right time because Hashem does not make any mistakes.
Deletei believe that's our main duty, to long for it, if you are preparing then you are longing
DeleteHatov ve-Hameitiv is simple enough to remember. Probably when I see, feel, experience Moshiach I would be speechless, maybe even angry. Angry that he took so long to get here. Is that terrible? That's how I feel. But better late than never.

I think you will be so overcome with joy that there won't be any room at all for even one angry thought. ;-)
DeleteDevash! I love you dearly! Thank you for holding on to this for so long! I will print out and do the same now and pass this around. Mamash! I Love you! GoldieZP
ReplyDeleteThat's not so long. Six years before that when the 'Al Aqsa Intifada' broke out on Erev Rosh Hashanah, I was sure that was it.
Delete600,00 Yidden, Devash - do make the correction? GoldieZP
ReplyDeleteI think we'll all be filled with such relief and gratitude we'll probably just cry out to Hashem like babies..
ReplyDeleteEmunah
Thank you so much for these brachot. But don't we need to see Eliyahu HaNavi first? And he is the one to declare (as the Torah says) who Mashiach is, plus he establishes the Sanhedrin before Mashiach arrives?
ReplyDeleteJust following Rav Kanievsky's instructions to get ready.
DeleteIt sas in Gemara Sanhedrin that if Moshiach comes before the destined time then Eliyahu Hanavi will arrie with Moshiach. But if it is at the end then Eliyahu will come to announce him the day before the Moshiach's arrival
DeletePS Do we have these Brachot in Hebrew?
ReplyDeleteYou can't write it out from the transliterations?
DeleteAm welcoming that possibility - but the longer this is taking, the more I'm about to lose it. Compleely.
ReplyDeleteHow long have you actually been waiting and watching for Mashiach?
DeleteProbably since the day I was born. I just didn't know what it was, just knew it was everything but what was defined as reality. That something more, that element of Tov - that's been with me from day one, A lonnnnng time and we;re not even going into the yearnings of previous gilgulim :)
DeleteNever Ever give up! (Noise Blockers and Other Remedies)
DeleteJust know that the only regrets that we will have when Moshiach finally arrives, is that we didn't use our time more wisely. We should take the time that we have left, which cannot be too much longer, and 'stuff' as many good deeds as possible into our neshamos.
I once read something that really made a difference in my attitude towards mitzvos in general. During the times of Moshiach, we all know that there will be no Yetzer Horah. Therefore, our only will is going to be, to serve Hashem, in every way possible. Although we will not sin anymore, the mitzvos that we will be doing, will be rewarded for in The World to Come. But, we will only receive rewards for those mitzvos and good middos that we worked on BEFORE the times of Moshiach. So that will be like FREE rewards!!
I can't bear the thoughts of regret that we might feel for not working on so many areas, out of laziness/procrastination.
So we should really consider this extra time, a gift!

Thanks Sarah. Doing the best I can under the circumstances. May Hashem help us all with direction and koach.

are there any midrashim regarding Moshiakh delegating a fleet av ships? All those Syrian refugees floating on makeshift arks are quite a spectacle [pretty sure, Sinim are closely noting all that dramah unfolding]:
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? Are you suggesting Mashiach will send out ships to rescue Syrian "refugees"?
DeleteDevash, I'm as ready as you, but I'd like the brachos in the original.
ReplyDeleteSo, then where was Mashi'ah ben Yosef? Was he hidden? Is this the mashi'ah we're talking about?
ReplyDeleteYou probably already addressed this elsewhere, but one has to be annointed to be king. So, let's make sure to make the berachoth at the right times, not necessarily all together, right?
Rabbi Eliyahu, ztz"l said Yehonatan Pollard was MBY and now we see that he has nearly completed his task. We are talking here about Mashiach Ben David and these brachot would only be said at his coronation when it is accepted by all authorities that he is Mashiach. That's why there will be more than 600,000 Jews attending the event.
DeleteAs far as I always knew, Moshiach Ben Yosef exists in every generation. They are usually Tzaddikim who have been killed one way or the other. MBY may have already passed on and used his spiritual strengths when he was alive, to bring jews closer to Hashem, which is what his job is.
DeleteSarah G K
A big Todah Rabba, for your efforts. We all need to print it out on a sheet of paper and get ready to say them :-)
ReplyDeletelaughing laughing this way - wouldn't it be something if Meir Ettinger ........ he is playing a big role ToTs
ReplyDeleteI think so - for sure. Maybe that's why he presented such a big threat to tptb.
DeleteMaybe it's time for my video again:

Thanks! I needed that. :-)
DeleteSO ALL RABBIS SAID HE WILL COME 1ST DAY of sukkes
ReplyDeleterav steiman and
Rav berland rav chaim said too
Rav Kanievsky Shlit"a could become Eliyahu HaNavi, but only when he identifies Mashiach as Mashiach. There is a specific order of the blessings depending on what happens first, second, etc.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard of Rabbi Meir Eliyahu Shlita?
ReplyDeleteHe is a very young gaon.
First Day of Sukkot is Yom Tov and it is impossible to drive to the Kotel. I think the best meeting for gathering 600 000 Jews will be the Second Day, when it is Mitsva for Shalosh Regalim and Birkat Kohanim.
ReplyDeleteAlso on the 2nd day: "The 612th mitzvah is the mitzvah of Hak’hel: every seven years, at the close of the Shmitta Year (which means this month, since the year 5775 which just finished a few days ago was a Shmitta Year), on the second day of Sukkot, when all Israel are in Jerusalem for the Pilgrimage, they assemble to hear the Torah being read (Deuteronomy 31:10-13)."
DeleteSounds like a plan to me. And not a minute too soon because I'm just about ready to pack up and return to the USA.
DeleteWhy on earth?!
DeleteYisrael K, it sounds like you need a better support system. Have you made any friends where you live? There's no question it's a very difficult adjustment, but it takes time, sometimes years. This is an investment in your family's future. Also, you're fulfilling a mitzvah. Do you really think Hashem would let your children be "destroyed" for your performance of a mitzvah? Few, if any, would have had a harder time than my children and at one school, the rabbi actually told me I had ruined my children's lives by bringing them here. But, now that we are here 20 years and looking back, we see that was not true at all.
DeleteOften, we feel at a complete breaking point just before we go up to a higher level. If you can hang on with your faith and push through it, you'll find better times on the other side. The tests become much more difficult here than where you came from because the rewards are greater.
Yisrael K, there's no going back to Egypt. I'll tell you something very profound and very important. You will only make a success of your aliyah, not only for yourself, but for your whole family, when you are 100% committed to being here. (And you have to make this clear to every member of your family - that no amount of trouble or dissatisfaction will budge you on this issue.)
The only way you can make it is to remove any possibility of going backwards. Leaving Eretz Yisrael must be taken off the table as an option. Leaving Eretz Yisrael must never be a fallback position in case of perceived failure. Look only forwards and not backwards. Hashem is only as committed to you as you are to Him. If you want His 100% commitment, He wants no less from you.
I personally feel that coming here with the idea that leaving is an option is a set-up for failure, a self-fulfilling prophecy and tantamount to entering under the huppah with a get in hand. View this like a marriage. Maybe what you're feeling today is like having your first fight with your spouse. Sure it's easier to chuck it and get a divorce. But, then you won't just be back where you started from. If you refuse to give in to the urgings of the yetzer hara on this (and his fingerprints are all aver it!) you will pass the test and everything will be clearer on the other side and you'll wonder why you ever doubted in the first place.
You can succeed! Hold tight to the rope!!
PS: Have your wife email me and I'll be happy to offer more substantial assistance.
DeleteOy vey, cliches. What am I gonna do with cliches?
DeleteCareful Devash. You don't know me. Have never seen me. Don't know my family, their names. You don't know our physical health, mental state, religious level, financial situation. You have no idea what insanity has happened to us here. I'm sure you assume we just can't deal with rude Israelis. You know nothing, but are making life decisions for us based on platitudes. This is not the proper way to give aitzah.
DeleteAnd then you are trying to nullify my personal judgement by calling it yetzer hara, ie the workings of the devil. This shows a Christian influence. In Torah, we don't just operate from a single principle or two, we have a massive literature and legal system and need very great minds to navigate it. That's why we leave the heavy decision making to big rabbis.
Is this Eliyahu Hanavi?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PffE9AZICUc
Based on what?
DeleteJust a thought: Maybe NB&OR is thinking of the talk about mamzeruth and other violations of shmirath habrith that pervades the video. Even though he speaks very quickly, his Hebrew was clear to me (not that I have confidence in translating them, but at least I think I caught the gist and could follow some of the thoughts). If I understand what he said correctly, it may just be a hint - it seems Eliyahu haNavi would be dealing with these kinds of issues...and I have a few questions for him.
DeleteOn the other hand, it seems that Mizrahim and Sepharadim (now that I think about it, he may be/is related to the Eliyahu family we know here in Yerushalayim, Tzfat and other places) know a lot about these things. Maybe it's just the usual for them.
One thing that stood out to me: (I think) he said that rabbis/shadchanim who deal with ba'alei t'shuva should be very careful regarding matching them to someone because they don't want to inadvertently perpetuate and spread sins carried out that the people involved inherited through their parents (lo"a).
There are a lot more videos where she found that one. I also think he speaks English (a few words in the shiur here and there, his pronunciation is perfect), but I haven't looked for anything he gives forth in our common language. I'd be interested in listening to them if he does.
Does this make sense?
G'mar hatimah tovah.
On a less torah oriented point, I was blown away when I learned the bracha on 'man'[ in the desert. "....hamotzi lechem min hashamayim." I play a game with my kids where I lay them on my lap and pretend I am making a sandwich out of them. Then I say a bracha and eat them. But the bracha is "....hamotzi (their name) min hashamayim".
