"....hamotzi lechem min hashamayim." I play a game with my kids where I lay them on my lap and pretend I am making a sandwich out of them. Then I say a bracha and eat them. But the bracha is "....hamotzi (their name) min hashamayim". You don't know our physical health, mental state, religious level, financial situation. You have no idea what insanity has happened to us here. I'm sure you assume we just can't deal with rude Israelis. You know nothing, but are making life decisions for us based on platitudes. This is not the proper way to give aitzah.

And then you are trying to nullify my personal judgement by calling it yetzer hara, ie the workings of the devil. This shows a Christian influence. In Torah, we don't just operate from a single principle or two, we have a massive literature and legal system and need very great minds to navigate it. That's why we leave the heavy decision making to big rabbis.

Yisraelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02721443282570038286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492192659601155685.post-58359977072834373272015-09-20T20:46:37.819+03:002015-09-20T20:46:37.819+03:00Oy vey, cliches. Even though he speaks very quickly, his Hebrew was clear to me (not that I have confidence in translating them, but at least I think I caught the gist and could follow some of the thoughts). If I understand what he said correctly, it may just be a hint - it seems Eliyahu haNavi would be dealing with these kinds of issues...and I have a few questions for him.

On the other hand, it seems that Mizrahim and Sepharadim (now that I think about it, he may be/is related to the Eliyahu family we know here in Yerushalayim, Tzfat and other places) know a lot about these things. Maybe it's just the usual for them.

One thing that stood out to me: (I think) he said that rabbis/shadchanim who deal with ba'alei t'shuva should be very careful regarding matching them to someone because they don't want to inadvertently perpetuate and spread sins carried out that the people involved inherited through their parents (lo"a).

There are a lot more videos where she found that one. I also think he speaks English (a few words in the shiur here and there, his pronunciation is perfect), but I haven't looked for anything he gives forth in our common language. I'd be interested in listening to them if he does.

Does this make sense?

G'mar hatimah tovah.HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10943174572566458612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492192659601155685.post-86017361012221816552015-09-20T09:12:05.773+03:002015-09-20T09:12:05.773+03:00PS: Have your wife email me and I'll be happy ...PS: Have your wife email me and I'll be happy to offer more substantial assistance.Devorah Chayahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03625277197970920616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492192659601155685.post-75582065109932339832015-09-20T09:08:49.597+03:002015-09-20T09:08:49.597+03:00Yisrael K, it sounds like you need a better suppor...Yisrael K, it sounds like you need a better support system. Have you made any friends where you live? There's no question it's a very difficult adjustment, but it takes time, sometimes years. This is an investment in your family's future. Also, you're fulfilling a mitzvah. Do you really think Hashem would let your children be "destroyed" for your performance of a mitzvah? Few, if any, would have had a harder time than my children and at one school, the rabbi actually told me I had ruined my children's lives by bringing them here. But, now that we are here 20 years and looking back, we see that was not true at all.

Often, we feel at a complete breaking point just before we go up to a higher level. If you can hang on with your faith and push through it, you'll find better times on the other side. The tests become much more difficult here than where you came from because the rewards are greater.

Yisrael K, there's no going back to Egypt. I'll tell you something very profound and very important. You will only make a success of your aliyah, not only for yourself, but for your whole family, when you are 100% committed to being here. (And you have to make this clear to every member of your family - that no amount of trouble or dissatisfaction will budge you on this issue.)

The only way you can make it is to remove any possibility of going backwards. Leaving Eretz Yisrael must be taken off the table as an option. Leaving Eretz Yisrael must never be a fallback position in case of perceived failure. Look only forwards and not backwards. Hashem is only as committed to you as you are to Him. If you want His 100% commitment, He wants no less from you.

I personally feel that coming here with the idea that leaving is an option is a set-up for failure, a self-fulfilling prophecy and tantamount to entering under the huppah with a get in hand. View this like a marriage. Maybe what you're feeling today is like having your first fight with your spouse. Sure it's easier to chuck it and get a divorce. But, then you won't just be back where you started from. If you refuse to give in to the urgings of the yetzer hara on this (and his fingerprints are all aver it!) you will pass the test and everything will be clearer on the other side and you'll wonder why you ever doubted in the first place.

You can succeed! We should take the time that we have left, which cannot be too much longer, and 'stuff' as many good deeds as possible into our neshamos.
I once read something that really made a difference in my attitude towards mitzvos in general. During the times of Moshiach, we all know that there will be no Yetzer Horah. Therefore, our only will is going to be, to serve Hashem, in every way possible. Although we will not sin anymore, the mitzvos that we will be doing, will be rewarded for in The World to Come. But, we will only receive rewards for those mitzvos and good middos that we worked on BEFORE the times of Moshiach. So that will be like FREE rewards!!

I can't bear the thoughts of regret that we might feel for not working on so many areas, out of laziness/procrastination.

So we should really consider this extra time, a gift!

Sarah G KAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492192659601155685.post-64289695423459998332015-09-17T21:46:33.970+03:002015-09-17T21:46:33.970+03:00Probably since the day I was born.
