The Third Is Precious

9 Iyyar 5786
24 Days of the Omer

For those who doubted, surely it must be clear to you by now that the showdown between Paras and Edom is not yet over.  "Talks Have Broken Down, Envoys' Trip to Islamabad Canceled" is a repeating headline this morning.  They were never going to do anything but delay the destined outcome anyway.

Just as clear to me as the failure of "talks" is the sure bet that the wars will not last longer than weeks now, if that.  The world economy, the strength of the dollar [2.99 sh - $1], the re-supply of armaments, the cost of maintaining American forces in the area, etc., can't last long.

HKB"H has an appointed time for everything and Iyyar is the month for miracle wars:  (1) 1948 won Eretz Yisrael during the Omer week of Tiferet; (2) 1967 won Yehuda v'Shomron and Yerushalayim during the Omer week of Malchut; (3) will 2026 see us win the Temple Mount during the Omer week of Netzach???

In 1948, the Erev Rav let Yerushalayim fall to our enemies.  In 1967, the Erev Rav let the Temple Mount fall into the hands of our enemies.  This corresponded to the First and Second Temples which fell.  But, the Third Beit Hamikdash will last forever.

Netzach means both victory and eternity.  Watch and see.

  2. Interesting correspondence between the acts of the Erev Rav and the destructions. Makes total sense.

  4. And that was also the Erev Rav concept behind the establishment of the state, to delay the coming of Moshiach. If the state hadn't been established after the Shoah then Moshiach would've come back then. Really Yom Haatzmaut is a day of mourning. Its a day celebrating freedom from Torah, and Mitzvot and service to Hashem and the triumph of the Erev Rav to prevent a Malchut Yehuda.

    1. I'd have to go with the Maharal on this. Everything happened the way it was always going to happen. Fruit develops within the peels and then the peels are removed and thrown away. The 5th of Iyyar marked an important next step in the geulah process but was not the geulah itself and no, I don't think it should be celebrated, commemorated yes, but neither do I think it appropriate to "mourn." Realize that they themselves have always refused to make a national holiday out of Yom Yerushalayim marking when we got possession of our holy places. That was a development that many of them mourn today as it saddled them with land that they did not want, except to use as a bargaining chip for a future peace process. The hardcore anti-God elements of Israeli society still wish to be rid of Gaza, Yehudah v'Shomron. Even Netanyahu's Likud voted to give away Gaza and Netanyahu personally signed away Hevron.

The real issue is not even with the Erev Rav, it's with Klal Yisrael who until now have failed to understand the nature of the Erev Rav, that they are not our brothers, that they are present also among the "religious" and that our job is to separate from them.

In the first place, how are Klal Yisrael outside Israel going to connect the words "erev rav" to a person who calls him/herself, or identifies as, a Jew, without an extended explanation? Personally, I never heard of this phrase in this context (for that matter, in any context except during Torah readings, where it refers to the Egyptians who came along with us) until I made aliyah and started to connect with Israelis like Tomer Devorah.

It would reveal a lot about how we understand the ruling class and those who identify with and support them, for the most part, here in Israel.

    What do you think?

    1. Not sure what you are asking, so not sure how to respond, but wrt Diaspora Jews, they rarely figure into my assessments because their reality is so different from mine. Face it, Redemption is coming to the world via the vehicle of Eretz Yisrael and the Jews who live in it and build it. That's just a fact.

    2. Right, I hear you; their reality is different from mine now, too. However, there is a prophecy that states that Jews from all over the world will be coming here as a result of events that are described in Yishayahu (Isaiah) 11:11-the end of the chapter; v. 12 actually says the words (from Artscroll), "He will gather in the dispersed ones of Judah from the four corners of the earth." (This could mean from the one tribe or all the tribes, who are called 'Jew' after Judah. I vote for the latter.)

All I can tell you is that one of our relatives here suggested early on that I become a politician. I shivered and said NO!!! I couldn't even bear the thought, but I didn't know why. At that time I had not yet heard that people with Jewish mothers could be erev rav in their souls.

Then I learned that one cannot tell if someone is an erev rav. Maybe a lot of people here heard it this way too, and are confused. May the separation become more pronounced so that we all know. Better yet, that we should be able to discern who they are, to look for what gives them away.

      I hope this helps. -HDG

    3. I've actually addressed this many times here on the blog. I think it is as simple as this: they are a mixture from the nations and they work to mix us with the nations. Either they are mixing us with Chr*stians (religious) or with Arabs (leftists) or making us one with Western Civilization (rightists). Look at all those who are notorious for claiming non-Jews as their "brothers and sisters" equal to us in every way and understand that this is their reason for being. From when Paro sent them along with us when we left Egypt, meaning for them to thwart Hashem's plan for us, they are still fulfilling that function today by preventing the fulfillment of our God-given purpose in the world by making Israel into a state of all its citizens (total mixture) as opposed to a Jewish State under Torah law which sets us apart. That's why the fight with them involves separation and that is what will bring in the ultimate redemption.

Remember that HKB"H began His creating by separating everything to its own unique place and purpose - each hting after its own kind. We are forbidden many mixtures. The world today - the world that hates HKB"H and His Torah are set on destroying that Order. They are making chaos - unbounded mixture.

    4. Thanks for boiling it down for me, TD.

It would be worth warning potential olim that in the future we won't accept mixing our practices with those of other nations or taking on practices that result in it or from it, or even encourage it, especially from them. They should know they will risk being rejected from aliyah/citizenship if they try, despite the warning.

Do you think so? - HDG

    5. I think such a thing would not be possible under a democratic regime.

    6. My bad. I didn't mention that I thought this would only apply to the government under Mashiach! -HDG
