Have You Heard the Term "Biofortified"?

Today was the first I'd heard of it, so I looked it up. I figured the readers might be interested, too.
BIOFORTIFICATION
Biofortification of staple food crops has emerged as a very potent solution to tackle this problem of deficiency of nutrients in developing countries where a large section of the population cannot afford enough fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish, and other food products to meet their essential nutritional requirements.

Biofortification is the process of developing micronutrients – rich food crops using the best conventional breeding practices or via genetic modification using modern biotechnology. It differs from ordinary fortification and it focuses on improving the nutrient profile of the food crop as it grows and matures instead of manually adding nutrients to the food while it is being processed.

Biofortification is a realistic and cost-effective source of conveying micronutrients to those populations who have limited access to different diets and other micronutrient interventions.

Many countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America are actively engaged in biofortification efforts to combat micronutrient deficiencies. These efforts often involve integrating biofortified crops into national agricultural and nutrition agendas, policies, and programs. Examples include Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Kenya, and Rwanda.

While biofortification research and implementation is more prominent in developing countries, both China and Russia are involved in biofortification efforts, with China having a more established program. The US and EU, while not majorly involved in biofortification, do conduct research and may utilize biofortified crops as part of their agricultural programs.

While there's no specific information indicating Israel is actively using biofortification as a widespread public health strategy like some developing nations, the country does have research and development in related areas. Israel is involved in research on biofortification of crops, particularly wheat, and has a strong focus on food security and alternative protein sources.  (Google)

  2. Is that why some foods have No Taste at all. I've seen tomatoes which look "deliciously" red, but when cut open, is white and has the texture of pomegranate. I recently bought watermelon and looked nice and red but was dry with no taste whatsoever. Like eating a rice cake. I once told a produce manager that most of the vegetables aren't fit to eat.

  3. They're destroying civilization. First with the GMO's coming from DNA of insects and animals and were hiding that fact for the longest time and that is why now people have become very aware and trying to make sure they read the labels to see if it's GMO or non-GMO.
They made sure to destroy the farms all over the world and then they
have the chutzpah to say there's not enough food out there. They cannot falsify foods or the truth. This agenda has been going for the longest time.
They are rushing everything now so their goal can be met by 2030.
I've noticed 'Bio" on some egg cartons and other foods, even cookies and I immediately understood that you have to read labels, not only
for the right hechsher but for everything else.
They have made the beautiful world Hashem has created for us with
everything perfect and have been destroying that perfection for decades; first with pesticides and on and on.
We have to rethink everything and maybe it's wiser to just eat less and
hope for the best. As a good friend told me, 'everything has been
corrupted (like the time before the great mabul) so just say a bracha
before eating and bentsch afterwards and H' will protect us'.
This is why our holy and wise Sages of 2000 years ago said they want
Moshiach but not to see him because they knew of all the tzarot and
the undoing of civilization at this time. H' Yerachem!
