Can Trump Be Both Eisav and Gog?

14 Tammuz 5785

What I am about to write is partly conjecture on my part.  The basic ideas are firmly rooted in authentic Jewish thought; however, there are insights which I will present for which I have no authoritative corroborating sources.  To me, they follow logically from our mesorah, but you will be the judge, and history will prove (or disprove) their accuracy.  Let's begin with Nebuchadnezzar's dream (Daniel, chapter 2) in which he saw the progress of civilization from his own time until Mashiach's coming.

The Division of "Rome"

We are going to concern ourselves only with the Fourth Kingdom - The Empire of Rome - also called Edom because the descendants of Eisav settled in Edom and then migrated to found RomeKlal Yisrael was destined to be subject to the Roman Exile until Days of Mashiach and we see from the above diagram, as revealed by Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream, that the "stone" of God's coming kingdom would mark the end of that exile and of Rome/Edom itself.

Rav Eliyahu Dessler wrote (Michtav Me'Eliyahu, Part 3, page 205):
The destruction of Edom [our last exile] will only come through the destruction of this world [as we know it]. The Holy One Blessed be He will cause the very foundations of life on earth to collapse. Tranquility will be disrupted, personal lives will be filled with worry, fear and yissurim, and the entire world will cower in dread of destruction and devastation.... Only then will the light of Moshiach be revealed - 'and the saviors shall go up to Mount Zion to judge the mountain of Eisav....' (Ovadya 1:21).

For only by achieving nullification and obliteration of this world will mankind be able to rise up and see with a true spiritual perspective. Then the kingdom of Edom will be destroyed, and the light of Moshiach will be revealed.

The Fourth Kingdom of Rome was unique in being represented by a pair of legs ending in two feet with ten toes.  Daniel makes this distinction.

Daniel 2:41-42 [at the end of this kingdom's time on earth]  And what you saw, the feet and the toes - which were partly of potter's clay and partly of iron - so it will be a divided kingdom, and in it will be some of the strength of iron, in view of what you saw iron mixed with clay.

Rashi: it will be a divided kingdom. It will be a divided kingdom; two kings will rise from it at once, strong and weak, as explained below (verse 42): “part of the kingdom will be strong.”

Daniel 2:42 ...and in it will be some of the strength of iron. Even the weak one will be stronger than the other nations through the strength of his fellow, for they will fear him.  And this is the meaning of וּמִן נִצְבְּתָא דִּי פַרְזְלָא לֶהֶוֵא בָהּ; some of the strength of the stability of iron will be in the weak king.

Daniel 2:44  And in the days of these kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom forever, it will not be destroyed, and the kingdom will not be left to another people; it will crumble and destroy all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever.

Rashi: And in the days of these kings. in the days of these kings, when the kingdom of Rome is still in existence.
the God Of heaven will set up a kingdom. The kingdom of the Holy One, blessed be He, which will never be destroyed, is the kingdom of the Messiah.
it will crumble and destroy. It will crumble and destroy all these kingdoms.

We know from Jewish sources that the Roman Empire has continued on until this day, in one form or another, despite the fall of political Rome in the 5th century CE.  But here is the kicker and not something that is very well-known:

Initial Division: The Roman Empire was too vast to be ruled effectively by one emperor, especially during the Crisis of the Third Century. Emperor Diocletian introduced the tetrarchy, a system of four co-emperors, which eventually evolved into a division between two emperors, one for the east and one for the west. "

The terms "Western Roman Empire" and "Eastern Roman Empire" (or Byzantine Empire, as the eastern half became known later) are used by historians to distinguish the two halves for clarity in describing their distinct histories and eventual fates.

Cultural Differences:  Over time, the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) developed its own distinct Greek culture and language, while the Western Roman Empire retained Latin as its primary language and culture. This cultural divergence contributed to the later use of separate terms.  (Google)

While the Byzantine Empire continued to rule in the East [it fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1453], the Catholic Church was fast becoming the new political power in the West.

Christianity as State Religion: In 380 AD, Emperor Theodosius made Christianity the official state religion of the Roman Empire. This gave the Church significant legal and political standing.

Post-[Political] Roman Influence: With the fall of the [political] Western Roman Empire, the Church became a major source of stability and authority in the West, filling the void left by the collapsing Roman government.

Development of Papal Supremacy: The Bishop of Rome, or Pope, gradually gained more authority, eventually establishing the concept of papal supremacy, where the Pope was seen as the ultimate religious authority, and increasingly, a political one as well.

Growth of Papal Power: The Church owned land, gathered taxes, and even passed laws, becoming a powerful institution in its own right. The creation of the Papal States in 756 further solidified the Pope's political power. (Google)
Then came the schism that would make the division irreversible...
The East–West Schism, also known as the Great Schism or the Schism of 1054, is the break of communion between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. A series of ecclesiastical differences and theological disputes between the Greek East and Latin West preceded the formal split that occurred in 1054.
...the Church split along doctrinal, theological, linguistic, political, and geographical lines, and the fundamental breach has never been healed: each side occasionally accuses the other of committing heresy and of having initiated the schism. (Wikipedia)

As this East-West dichotomy progressed over the succeeding centuries, the monarchies eventually gave way to democratic republics or parliamentary democracies in the West - the sum total of whose history has produced what is known today as Western civilization.  The East went to the opposite extreme and fell to the clutches of Communism.

Through the power of its element iron, the East Roman Empire imprisoned its subjects behind an Iron Curtain.  By the 20th century, Rome was no longer acknowledged politically.  It was the Eastern Bloc nations versus the Western Bloc.

Because of this distinction, the Eastern Bloc must be the iron part of the iron/clay mixture mentioned in Daniel, chapter 2.  [Refer above.]  That means the West is the clay - the weaker of the two.  Both leaders - East and West - at the End of Days will appear to be strong, but underneath, one is much weaker.  He is only perceived to be strong by virtue of the position he holds as a leader.

When you look at the political reality of what is happening to the West vis a vis Islam, it would appear that it is the weaker between the two.  The East is not as plagued with the ills of Western society.  That's just a fact.  People who are western oriented underestimate the power and strength of the East and conversely, they overestimate the power and strength of the West.

Seeing as how it is Edom - in both its incarnations - which must fall at the coming of Mashiach, it makes sense that these two "kings," both of them an aspect of Eisav, at the End of Days will be Gog and Magog.

Therefore, I say the leader of the Eisavian West is indisputably the President of the United States and the leader of the Eisavian East is indisputably the President of Russia.

Jewish writings, particularly in the Books of Samuel and Esther, suggest that "Agag" was indeed a title or name used by successive Amalekite kings. While some scholars also interpret it as a personal name, the idea of it being a dynastic title, similar to how "Pharaoh" was used for Egyptian rulers, is a common interpretation. This is supported by the fact that Haman in the Book of Esther is referred to as "the Agagite," indicating a lineage from this royal line.  (Google)

GOG:  Although the name George is Greek in origin and the letter "r" may be seen to preclude it from being some derivative of Gog, the preponderance of this name in the history of Western leaders cannot be a coincidence.

George III was king of England during the American Revolutionary War, led by George Washington of the American colonies.  George V was king of England during the British Mandate period in Eretz Yisrael.  [Everyone knows King George Street in downtown Jerusalem.]

General George Washington, commander of the Revolutionary forces in America, became the first president of that country.  George Bush senior, as president of the United States, would convene the Madrid Conference which kicked off the infamous Peace Process, while his son George W Bush, as president, would kick off the modern crusades into the Muslim Middle-East.

Then there is Georgetown University which is located of all places in Washington, DC which was named in honor of George Washington.

Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution of higher learning in the United States. John Carroll’s founding of Georgetown College coincides with the birth of our nation.

The name George according to Google...

Christian Significance: Saint George, a Roman soldier of Greek origin, became a prominent figure in Christianity, particularly after his supposed martyrdom in 303 AD. He is a celebrated figure in various Christian traditions, including the Eastern Orthodox, Catholic, and Anglican churches.

Spread and Popularity: The name George spread throughout Europe, particularly during the Crusades, and became a popular name among royalty and nobility. It was particularly popularized in England, where Saint George is the patron saint.

Modern Usage: The name George continues to be a popular choice for boys worldwide, with variations appearing in many languages and cultures. It has been borne by numerous historical figures, including several British monarchs, and continues to be a common name in many countries.

You really can't make this stuff up...

In the Skull and Bones society at Yale, George H.W. Bush was known as "Magog", and his son, George W. Bush, was known as either "Gog" or "Temporary". The nicknames are derived from the biblical figures Gog and Magog, who are mentioned in the Book of Revelation as figures leading a final battle against God. The exact reasons for assigning these names within the society are not publicly known, as Skull and Bones is a highly secretive organization. (Google)

MAGOG: "Magog is often associated with a region north of the Black Sea, encompassing parts of modern-day Russia and Ukraine, and potentially extending into Central Asia."  (Google)

In summary, the Roman Empire, signified by iron in Daniel's dream interpretation, is split East and West; and each is dominated by one nation - Russia and USA; and each is ruled by a president - currently Putin and Trump.

Their titles at the End of Days are Gog and Magog.  Whoever holds those titles and rules those dominant nations are Gog and Magog until their rule is over and they are replaced with someone else.

This is how Donald Trump can also be Gog!

One issue I have with this theory is how the clay can be interpreted as referring to Yishmael.

    1. I think the identification of the "clay" as Yishmael is a mistake. And it doesn't fit Rashi's commentary or the plain idea from Daniel that this part of the figure is Edom.

It was an idea I seem to recall from reading the Ishmaelite Exile and related literature.

Especially with the notion that Esav after losing the birthright goes to Ishmael with the plot to commit double fratricide against both Jacob and Isaac, before marrying Ishmael's daughter.

Which is a scenario that is suppose to play out in the End of Days, with the Iron and Clay representing the fragility of their alliance despite their best attempts at unifying.

  2. Daniel's dream interpretation always fascinated me. Rabbis have said Islam is part of the last exile and the clay represents them. It seemed difficult to comprehend, until recently. We see the Muslim influence in most of Europe and how the two civilizations will not mix. (Iron doesn't mix with clay). Recently, in the US, forces have combined to join with Islam. A combination that doesn't actually mix but with the same goals.

Now, considering something more. Ishmael is called a wild donkey and Mashiach comes riding that donkey, being victorious, over Islam, the controlling authority of Har HaBayit.

  3. Your comments on the strength of the East is apt.

Vox Day recently posted about China's new highly restrictive divorce laws and the positive impact it will have.

Russia has passed several laws banning all sorts of deviant activity especially involving recruitment and grooming.

  4. Is Trump Heights going to be his burial place from Ezekiel 39? Or maybe he'll take the other President's plot that did drop the bomb in Kfar Truman. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Heights. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kfar_Truman. Maybe since Truman dropped the bomb and then established the State of Israel, perhaps midda knegged midda will apply to that country like in Pirkei Avot 2:6 -"You were drowned because you drowned others. And ultimately, those who drowned you will also drown." Maybe Pirkei Avot will apply to the bomb and lead to the end Edom and to the creation of the Kingdom of Israel?

  6. George III was King of Great Britain and Ireland when the USA declared independence in 1776.

Yehezkel 38 states that Gog is an individual, from the land of Magog.

    1. Thank you, I've corrected to George III. I am well aware of the reference from Yechezkel, of course. I'll have to update you later with another source.

  7. I don't know why but I've always thought Putin was Armillius, the other big enemy that will come against us. The problem is that Putin is not weak and neither is Trump (based on the two verses below), they are both strong and stubborn and arrogant, neither rely on one another. So when it says a divided kingdom.....is it possible that it is referring to America as the strong part of the divided kingdom and Europe as the weak part? Or possibly just England itself. England used to own the American colonies... a divided kingdom?... And they still think they do, ask any Englishman, they grumble about how the US was really theirs. Also the US is the strong one, not Europe or England. The US protects Europe and Trump was complaining about that, how Europe doesn't pay their fair share into NATO. and lets be real, no one is afraid of Europe/ England, its the US they fear. That part about the weaker one will be stronger than the rest of the world because of the protection afforded them by the stronger half of the kingdom jumped out at me and struck me as Europe/ England vs US.
I don't know just guessing, but I'll bet we are gonna know soon enough!

    1. Armilius is the head of the Erev Rav.

My position that Russia is the iron and America is the clay has to be reevaluated based on newly emerging information. I'll explain in the next blog post.
