Tzom Tisha b'Av
The Sages taught, "Any generation in which the Temple is not built, it is as if it had been destroyed in their times" (Yerushalmi, Yoma 1a). The same lack of merit resulting in its destruction has resulted in its not being rebuilt. In fact, the Midrash states a frightening outcome of not yearning for the rebuilding of the Temple, "All the communities that fell, it is only because they didn't inquire after and demand the Beit HaMikdash" (Midrash Socher Tov, Shmuel 31). What can we do to demonstrate our interest in, and increase our merit that the Temple be rebuilt? The Rabbis taught, "Those who study about the Temple, it is as if the Temple was built in their days" (Menachot 111a). [Source]

ReplyDeleteWhat I didn't like is this video which had a non Jewish flavor and for those who don't have an informed true Jewish history, it's a little contorted. Also, the admiration of Herod is a definite sign of a non Jew telling the story. Herod was notJewish, s Roman slave (maybe of Hittite origin) who usurped the throne from the Chashmanoyim, who had sinned by usurping the throne, as they were Kohanim and not allowed to sit on the royal throne. The saddest part is that it was the Jews of Jerusalem who invited in the Romans for help and then never left. This shows us how we, the Jewish people, should never ever rely on any nation, peoples, or any entity, other than our Father In Heaven, Hashem! May next year truly be the first happy Tisha B'Av where we feast on one of our happiest festivals, 9th of Av. May we see our Holy Eternal Beit HaMikdash in all its glory with our righteous Moshiach, Hashem's servant, at the helm and the world will know, there is ONLY HASHEM and no other and that we are His Children.
Amen! Agreed. Most of what is out there comes from a gentile perspective. With all the Jews in filmmaking, you'd think we'd have better. But then, look what Spielberg did with Prince of Egypt.
