Perhaps things could play out this way with U.S.–Iran agreement during Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, with nuclear terms to be finalized within a 60-day period.
The Gemara in Yoma 10a brings both directions: Rome/Edom falls into the hands of Paras, and Rav says Paras falls into the hands of Rome — a decree of the King.
Perhaps before geulah, the empires of galut become entangled and weaken each other.
This coinciding with Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, when Paras and the Rome/Edom-like power reached an agreement after war, with a 60-day window for the final nuclear negotiations. Tammuz is when the walls of Yerushalayim were breached and the "hands of Eisav" (Beresheit 27) seem strongest: force, weapons, sanctions, empire, and pressure.
But 60 days from Rosh Chodesh Tammuz points toward Elul. That may fit the Yalkut Shimoni, which says that in the year King Mashiach is revealed, “the king of Persia returns and destroys the whole world,” and the nations panic with birth pangs like a woman giving birth.
Perhaps this returning to destroy the world stage could be in Elul, when the whole world is preparing to be judged, and the birth-pangs imagery connects to Betulah/Virgo, the mazal of Elul.
Tammuz reveals the hands of Eisav; Av exposes their destructive peak; and Elul reveals the transition: the hands grow tired, the King is in the field, and kol Yaakov begins returning through teshuvah, tefillah, Torah, and truth.
Perhaps Mashiach is kol Yaakov (Bereishit 27) restored to kingship (not with stronger hands than Eisav), but the voice of Yaakov becoming the ruling force of the world, until Paras, Edom, and all galut empires fall away and Malchut Hashem is revealed.
