UPDATEDetails of plan to free Pollard, save floundering peace talks emerge

Pollard may be released as part of negotiations deal, officials say

In the month of Adar when joy increases, we first received the news that Jonathan Pollard would be released. That was followed by an immediate disclaimer from the White House that no such decision had yet been made. Finally, on Rosh Chodesh Nisan, the beginning of the month of redemption, confirmation was issued from the White House that a deal for Pollard's release is "on the table" and that he could be sent home by the "middle of April," i.e. Passover, which is April 15th this year. However, this "deal" is still contingent on quite a few very tricky details. In other words, it's still not "a done deal." Hashem yishmor alav!

The entire Jonathan Pollard saga has been something completely out of the ordinary throughout, so why should his ultimate release from prison be any different?

We're coming to the end of a nine-month process, after which you would expect some kind of birth or re-birth, as the case may be. Every year at this time, there has been a push towards gaining Pollard's freedom, and each year, the "push" gained momentum and seemed more promising. Now, this year, it seems there is real hope for success, yet, even the announcements in the news have taken on the character of birthpangs - each one another "push" until the ultimate goal will be reached, please G-d!

What better time to go free than on our holiday of freedom? May it be His will!
