And lest anyone say, "Oh, THAT does not have to do with us, it's the Erev Rav" or some other nonesense, let Grandpa relate the following true story. It was the 1980s? I think. At the annual conference of Agudat Israel, the sage Rav Pam gave a talk that SHOCKED and STUNNED his distinguished audience. The Rav said that cheating, stealing, swindling and lying had reached such epidemic proportions in the ultra-orthodox community (that was the Rav's world), ESPECIALLY relating to business dealing with Goyim, that THE RAV COULD NO LONGER REMAIN SILENT ABOUT IT. The Rav voiced his Public Protest and Warning at a very official and public event involving the leading lights of Agudat Israel. Here is Israel need I point out that our ("religious") President, our ("unreligious") Prime Minister, our ("religious") Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi and ("religious") Mayor and now ("religious") Sefardi Chief Rabbi (have to check which one it was) WERE IN JAIL FOR THEFT and "rape" (let's say HIGHLY non-consensual relations of a married man with other ladies who worked for him). Knowing all of the above, I have a problem hearing little stories about arriving late for davening and leaving early. Also, based on my own long, bitter experience on Planet Earth, I really doubt any serious "teshuva" by anyone on almost anything (though theoretically is is possible). Moral Of The Story, LESS "teshuva", MORE just act NORMAL. ljgMr. Lowell Joseph Gallinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14544612388734835915noreply@blogger.com
