"I'm not antisemitic, but..."

9 Tevet 5780

Shared from Avi Horowitz's Twitter account.  As many have already pointed out, if it is like this when times are relatively good, what will it be like when/if people are cold and hungry and without hope?

  1. Aren't the above quotes speaking about Israel, not New York?

    1. I was not careful enough in my reading of Shimshon's comment before publishing it. When you sent your comment, I had to read more carefully and as a result, I found no relevance to the pesukin he quoted. Words were misapplied by taking them out of context and misidentifying the subject. This does not refer to Am Yisrael at all. The prophet is speaking to "the mountains of Israel" - to the Land of Israel. [Yechezkel 36.13-15]

It is a mistake to make it say anything else. I certainly would not want to be guilty of twisting God's words or anyone else's.

And in answer to your question, Shimshon: "Is it antisemitic for them to call out and reprove bad behavior?"

That's not what they did. They falsely accused Jews of "taking everything" from them and keeping it for themselves. That lie has been told over and over again since we became a nation. It's absolutely antisemitic.

  2. Some years ago there was a very interesting article in the Jewish Tribune (London). The nature of anti-semitism throughout the galut is tailored to highlight a particular shortcoming in the Jewish people. For example in pre-war Germany many of our people were staunch nationalists, in Russia staunch communists. In this generation many acheinu Bnei Yisrael spend a lot of energy supporting the rights of other minorities. This video shows how they eventually turn round and stab us in the back.
