Is Child "Sacrifice" Still Practiced in Eretz Yisrael?

10 Sivan 5777
Shavua tov!

To me, this is the most horrendous part of the story yet.

  1. What an outrageous Chillul Hashem! Be strong Devash and keep up the excellent work exposing these predators!

  2. Sickening.

I also saw the video of Rav Richter confronting Hayovel; thank G-d, at least somebody is taking a stance. I believe this will start to trickle down until it turns into a huge flood. Thank you for opening our eyes to this serious challenge.

On another note, on Erev Shabbat I ate at the table of a rabbi in K.A., good friends of mine. I discussed the issue of 'rav' Waldman with him and his family. Apparently the case of 'rav' Waldman is known among the rabbis here; they agreed with me on principle, but said there is nothing to be done short of trying to speak with "rav" Waldman himself to convince him of the error of his ways; they said that a Din Torah would not work because he can always refuse to come. I was sharing how I am concerned about the effect of his actions on the whole community; the response was that the effect is negligible; they were treating this like the error of some lone individual. Sorry, this is a lot more than just some individual choosing to receive dirty money for his enterprise; he is supposed to be raising a whole generation of Torah scholars! Maybe on a practical level it has no effect, but what about on a spiritual level??? How can we have a Yeshivah that is funded by missionary money? The response was that there is no issur in accepting money from goyim, the only problem is that you find yourself indebted and feel that you somehow owe something to the giver - as though I am making a mountain out of a molehill....Those rabbis think in practical, Halachic terms, not in terms of the Zohar. One of the arguments, actually, was that the Zohar is not binding. It seems they stick to the strict letter of the (Torah) law, and that's it.

I will still call Rav Lior. But from this discussion it appears Rav Lior is quite familiar with the situation yet has not influence, as "rav" Waldman thinks he knows better and won't listen to him.

    1. That is how the situation has been characterized to me as well. Thanks for trying. Hashem takes note.

    2. The Zohar and the Halacha are not keneged. Real understanding of the halacha and the zohar reveals, hat they are perfect in resonance. This is what the GRA zt'l said.

  3. I'm Speechless again, I don't understand how parents can put their children in so much danger...We need to ask help from HaShem..
    Psalm 83:
A psalm, a song of Asaph.
O God, have no silence, do not be silent and do not be still, O God.
For behold, Your enemies stir, and those who hate You raise their heads.
Against Your people they plot cunningly, and they take counsel against Your protected ones.
They said, "Come, let us destroy them from [being] a nation, and the name of Israel will no longer be remembered."
For they have taken counsel with one accord; against You they form a pact.
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites.
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Also Assyria joined them; they were the arm of the children of Lot forever.
Do to them as [to] Midian; as [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin in the brook Kishon.
They were destroyed in En-Dor; they were [as] dung on the ground.
Make them, their nobles, as Oreb and as Zeeb, and as Zebah and as Zalmuna all their princes,
Who said, "Let us inherit for ourselves the dwellings of God."
My God, make them like thistles, like stubble before the wind.
As a fire that burns in a forest and as a flame that burns mountains.
So will You pursue them with Your tempest, and with Your whirlwind You will terrify them.
Fill their faces with shame, and they will seek Your countenance, O Lord.
Let them be ashamed and terrified forever; let them be disgraced and perish.
Let them know that You-Your name alone is the Lord, Most High over all the earth.

  4. It seems to me that around 5 years ago the Gedolim said something about not taking money from these type of people.

  5. It shows also that we are definitely in the "third watch of the night." (See TB Berachos 3a)

    3. It's ok. In your merit, it is now posted permanently in the sidebar right up top where it can be seen at all times. :-)

  7. For further explanation on the "third watch of the night," the Maharal (Netzach Yisrael, ch. 18) says the allegory of night describes the bleak, gloomy exile, in which Israel is sinking in darkness and despair.
The initial phase is symbolized by a donkey braying because galus begins when our oppressors treat us like a beast of burden.
In the second phase anti-semitism increases violently and our enemies want to eradicate us.
But the most terrible threat of the exile appears in the third phase. Those enemies who failed to destroy us with their hatred will adopt a new approach; they will try to kill us with love!

    Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall not be a priest to me; seeing that you have forgotten the Torah of your God, I will also forget your children.

  8. Anonymous,

Could you please elaborate on the concept of Third Watch of the Night? What exactly is meant by that? I checked out Brachot, and it is confusing. Thanks
