Curious Connections

1 Shevat 5775
Rosh Chodesh

From An Anthology of the Gaon by Rabbi Moshe Tzuriel:

"The purpose in our bringing about the ingathering of the exiles is to set up faithful people for the sake of the unification of the two moshiachs (i.e., Moshiach Ben Yosef and Moshiach Ben Dovid) in the gates of Jerusalem."

There is more than one way in and out of the city of Jerusalem, but everyone who has ever been here can attest to the fact that there is one entrance that is designated as The Entrance to the City. There are even buildings in that area called Sha'arei Yerushalayim - the Gates of Jerusalem.

In the past, I found it more than a little interesting that Rav Kook set up his yeshivah in this area - in Kiryat Moshe and Givat Sha'ul. It's also where Rav Mordechai Eliyahu lived, where Rav Meir Kahane lived, and a bit further on, in Har Nof, where Maran Ovadiah Yosef lived and established his organization.

It's also where the Erev Rav regime chose to set up their immense "government complex" including the Knesset, the Supreme Court, Bank of Israel, etc. Not far from there, opposite Har Nof, is Yad Vashem - the place which someone once dubbed the 'Temple' of the secular Zionists.

So, here we have the Erev Rav regime...  and the representatives of authentic Torah, the "faithful people", as if set in opposition to each other - like chess pieces facing off - right in the gates of Jerusalem.

MK Eli Yishai lives in Har Nof... actually, very near to the beit knesset where the horrible massacre recently took place.  Yesterday, I read a report which mentioned that MK Eli Yishai is about to move from Har Nof into the Mishkenot Ha'Uma complex - practically a stone's throw from the Knesset

'Check'!

Let's hope 'checkmate' won't be far behind.

  1. Checkmates?
Your vision appears just to simplist to my eyes. Do you not believe that some of our Torah Scholars, even some "gdolim", can be from the Erev Rav ???
The unification of the two meshichim means that both part have to make teshouvah!
Both part ! Not just the one you don't like...

  2. Yes, simplisticly put perhaps, but accurate nonetheless. That's exactly what's going to happen one day - I hope sooner rather than later.

Your question needs no answer as the blog content speaks for itself.

The rest of your comment needs explaining if you really expect some response from me. What "both parts"?

And finally, this is not some matter of personal 'like' and 'dislike'. It's a matter of real-Jews and authentic Torah as opposed to Erev Rav and apostate 'Jews' and the Hellenistic culture. I 'like' RIGHT and TRUTH. That's what I stand for and it's also why I stand for it, because it's right and true.

However, I admit that fact with full knowledge that you will very likely deem it "to simplist" in your eyes.

You do realize that if you don't like what you read here, you can take your eyes elsewhere?

  3. Annonymous, I know what you mean regarding so called gadolim who are really eruv rav. But I don't think that describes R' Ovadia. I believe he was the real deal, a true gadol and champion of the people. He wasn't trying to make himself rich or powerful. He was trying to help.

    So Devorah's portrayal holds up.

  4. Rabbi Ronsky said "Uniting all Torah-observant Jews – Religious Zionist, hareidi, and traditional – into one single party will apparently be possible only when the Messiah comes, ..."

Also curious. That's what Haam Itanu claims it is going to do.

  5. Yishai: Yachad is Not Shas 2

...Yishai told the media that the addition of Rav Hager brings a new flavor to the party, which now fulfills his dream of a “torani party” that encompasses different streams of religious observance. Yishai added that “finally the unwanted mechitzos have been taken down between the kippot srugot and the chareidim” and he adds he believes the achdus his party represents is authentic and unique.

...Rabbi Hager, who is a colonel in the IDF reserves, released a statement “I thank Eli Yishai for permitting me to return with pride to my Torah roots while preserving Eretz Yisrael”. Rav Hager praised statements released by HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita regarding the greatness of Rav Kook ZT”L and the mitzvah of serving in the IDF for all those who are not committed to limud Torah. “This represents a true change regarding Yachad Shivtei Yisrael” explained Rav Hager, who heads a Mechina yeshiva in Yatir.

Yishai stressed “anyone who believes Yachad will be a Shas 2 is mistaken. Now it is clear that we are a different torani party that represents all of Amcha Yisrael; chareidi, religious, non-religious and those who are traditional”.

  6. That is the reason that Eli Yishai started his new party, so it won't be another Shas. He appears to be true to his ideals and we wish him and his party much success. Also to the first Anonymous. Do not believe that any of the real 'gdolim' are of the Erev Rav. Many rabbis are, but they are not in the category of G'dolim (maybe some g'dolim might be gilgulim of those who were happy with living in the desert so they could devote their lives to Torah without hindrance, rather than settling in the Land which H' gave them which, of course, was their mistake). Also, the 'real'Erev Rav cannot make teshuva. The sages call them Erev Rav Amaleikim. There is much Jewish blood on their hands.

  7. So, what category do the Rabbis belong that said NOT to leave Europe prior to WWII, and the ones who say NOT to leave France, Germany (Europe) now, in fear of more terror....? They should stay and be trapped by an estimated (imminent) Russian takeover of W. Europe? They should stay and become pawns in an anti-Semitic uprising?

The current scare with reference to what happened to groups in the early days of the state, who came and lost their connection to their religious way of life, to me, is a bit deceiving and not actually reflective of our current situation. many things have changed since those early days.

  8. "So, what category do the Rabbis belong that said NOT to leave Europe prior to WWII"

Human. The Holocaust was supernatural. "Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition." And the danger of Jews losing the religion leaving Europe was happening right before their eyes.

  9. Regarding rabbanim during the Holocaust:
From everything I read, hardly anyone that could be considered a Gadol said, "Don't leave; everything will end up okay." As far I can tell, they did not say that kind of thing.
What they did say was that there was a gezeira on Am Yisrael, and that if one could leave, then one should, but that they probably wouldn't be able to.
Even the two Sephardi mekubalim who created a protective "boundary" around Eretz Yisrael and the Arab countries were not able to completely cover the Arab countries, nor were they able to stretch that "boundary" into Europe.
