Pakistan: Musharraf dismisses exit talk

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - President Pervez Musharraf's spokesman on Monday dismissed a suggestion from three U.S. senators that the embattled leader make a "graceful exit" from power his opponents' victory in Pakistan's elections.

Musharraf was elected to a new five-year presidential term last year by Pakistani lawmakers, "not by any senator from the United States," his spokesman Rashid Qureshi told Dawn News television.
"So I don't think he needs to respond to anything that is said by these people," he said.

The three U.S. senators met Musharraf shortly after last week's parliamentary vote in which his political allies were routed. Some Pakistani political leaders have also called for him to resign.
Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Sunday that he would advise Musharraf to seek a dignified way to leave office.

"I firmly believe if (political parties) do not focus on old grudges — and there's plenty in Pakistan — and give him a graceful way to move," then it could happen, Biden, a Democrat, said on ABC television.

Republican Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Chuck Hagel also endorsed a negotiated retreat rather than a push from power for Musharraf.

For all its talk of spreading "democracy" around the world, the US sure does all it can to undermine democratic values. Your vote counts as long as you put "their guy" in power. They actually send people here to Israel to run the campaigns of their choice candidates. And it's probably all a lot worse than we even imagine.

Final Message from the Autistics?

I felt it imperative to get the most recent messages from Daniel and Ben Golden on here in translation beforehand. I apologize in advance that it may leave something to be desired. It is correct to the best of my knowledge.

I left out a few things that I felt were not so relevant or things which had been stated many times before because I simply did not have the time to accomplish the entire thing.

Here it is:

Excerpts from communication with Daniel, 12 Feb 2008:

DANIEL: I just want to say that the time is finished. Really, this is a countdown and even if large numbers of Jews and also gentiles are beginning to understand that something supernatural is occurring, even so this doesn't bring the majority to full awareness. What a pity!...

ABBA: It's been mentioned several times before about how there will be a "Great Fear." Can you add to that?
DANIEL: This fear has already begun. People don't know what to fear first---wars, money problems, bank failures. From what to fear first---many strange natural disasters, almost everyday now.

ABBA: They don't know that the banks will fail. They don't have any fear of this.
DANIEL: There are those who are afraid. Because already they are advertising this in the US because of the possibility that this will be.

ABBA: I received a letter from Mahmoud (referring to statements made against Israel by Achmadinejad) and this is his language: "Nothing can help you,..." (etc.) What do you think , Daniel?
DANIEL: That a Jew who really tries hard to do the will of Hashem, who is modest and who really works, who really waits for the complete redemption and cries over the Beit Hamikdash that hasn't risen up for over 2000 years, a Jew like this, that with all of his heart wants to do teshuva, a Jew like this doesn't need to fear from Mahmoud or from Bahmoud. He needs to fear only from HKBH.

But whoever doesn't understand the truth, who isn't so interested in the arrival of redemption. He's more interested in his vacation in Florida or Switzerland, or it doesn't matter where, a Jew like this, he has what to fear from Mahmoud, big time.

ABBA: HaRav B. said that within two months the big balagan will begin.
DANIEL: Yes, possibly. ...Abba., there really isn't much time. In the near future, wars will begin here in the land. And from this will begin all the hard things which stand before us. Abba, it's so important what we do, and doesn't matter what we say to you, or how we confuse your mind. All confusion of the mind is from the Sitra Achra that enters into every corner. Abba, in everything we need to request help from HKBH.

...Ben has a message that I believe will be the last, meantime, until something very big will happen.

Excerpts from communication with Binyamin, 12 Feb 2008:

What is there to say to Am Yisrael that we haven't said. We see clearly that the world stands to collapse. Every day, every day something happens somewhere in the world, something hard, something fearful. Sometimes it's more than one thing a day. And we, Am Yisrael, we here in Eretz Yisrael are in the hardest situation and everyone sees this. The Arabs close in upon us from every direction, from the South, from the North, from the West, and from the East. From wherever you want, they close in upon us. And these aren't the Arabs from the Six Days War who left their shoes behind as they fled....

If it were like the Hanukah story,
The few against the many,
The righteous against the wicked,
The pure against the impure, then we'd have more of a chance.

But the few are also the impure and also the wicked and also unworthy, and this is very, very sad.

I don't want to say that all Jews are unworthy, that's not correct, but in truth, today, few are worthy at this moment, but this situation is able to change in a moment, really in a moment.

(On teshuva)...but with one hand on the eigel hazahav and the other hand on the tzitzit---this is not enough. They need to pick up the eigel hazahav and break him and throw him and turn him into powder. Only then is it possible to begin to do teshuva.

Oy, Am Yisrael....what can I say to you? HKBH will take out by the root everything that is against the Torah, every building that was built by a populace of haters of Israel, every person like this, Jew or goy, all that the Erev Rav builds HKBH is taking out by the root and this will disappear. Every apostate or just regular hater of Israel will disappear from his root and this is not simple, it is very frightening....

The world is in tohu u'vohu (null and void).
Tohu u'vohu of nature.
Tohu u'vohu of politics.
Tohu u'vohu of many wars and cruelties.

And everyone begins to fear.
Only the foolish continue without fear....

I'm only going to tell you the following things and after that I don't see any reason to speak further until something will happen so...everyone will open their eyes all at once.

But still that's not to say that there will be those ready to give up on the American dream, on the rosy dream of what it is to be a successful person in this world. They will fear, they will calculate well how much time they are able to continue and they will prepare how to cross this and to return to what was, but there won't be any returning to what was and only the person that waits for Mashiach and is close to HKBH, who does real teshuva is able to live in the world that will remain after the final war.

Therefore prepare yourselves now for the new world...prepare yourselves because it won't be possible afterwards.

Again I beg you, cry and beg, Am Yisrael, prepare yourselves for the world to come this minute, there's no time!

It's not possible to say to me now like they always say all the time, the autistics always say "a little longer," but nothing happens, because everyone sees that it's really just a little bit longer. Here and there, there are people saying another seven years and such, but I'm saying to you there's not another seven years. We don't know if there's seven months or even seven weeks! Impossible to know, but when it begins, there won't even be time to do teshuva. Again, seven years it won't be. Maybe seven months, maybe seven weeks, maybe less, but when it starts, there won't be time or presence of mind to do full teshuva, partially maybe, but partially is not enough.

Again I beg you, I implore you, Am Yisrael, understand what is happening here. Open your eyes and see the Truth! Immediately fill the synagogues. Cry and put on sackcloth on your body and ashes on your head and cry with many tears.

Beg pardon from HKBH, beg from Him the strength to go against an associate who brings you down a lot, whether it's a hareidi associate or a secular associate, and return to the Truth. To return to the Truth, this is success.

Again I say, the world is at the end, the world that we've known. At the end of the matter, everyone will be alone with himself and with HKBH. Even if there will be at the end a thousand people or 10,000 or 100,000 or a million, everyone will be alone on judgment day.

Am Yisrael, the love of HKBH will return home. There's no time. The end is arriving.

End of communication.

Hashem have mercy on us!!

"Onward Xian Soldiers"

It's the title of a favorite old hymn:

Onward Xian soldiers marching as to war,
with the cross of J----, going on before...

US military accused of harboring fundamentalism
WASHINGTON (AFP) — Since his last combat deployment in Iraq, Jeremy Hall has had a rough time, getting shoved and threatened by his fellow soldiers. The trouble started there when he would not pray in the mess hall.

"A senior ranking staff sergeant told me to leave and sit somewhere else because I refused to pray," Hall, a 23-year-old US army specialist, told AFP.

...former Air Force lawyer Mikey Weinstein, said he has documented 6,800 testimonies by military personnel -- nearly all of them Christians -- of sometimes punitive or humiliating attempts to make them accept a fundamentalist evangelical interpretation of Christianity.

"I am at war with those people who would create a fundamentalist Christian theocracy in the technologically most lethal organization ever created by our species, which is the United States armed forces," he said.

...He singles out one of the major Christian groups in the military, the Officers Christian Fellowship (OCF).

...OCF's aim, as stated on its website, is to achieve "a spiritually transformed military, with ambassadors for Christ in uniform, empowered by the Holy Spirit."

It professes belief in "the eternal blessedness of the saved; and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost."

...A former military chaplain of a prestigious US military college reported being prevented from leading worship after disagreeing with the fundamentalist stance of other officials.
According to the Associated Press, many allegations surfaced "...that evangelical Christians wield so much influence at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs that anti-Semitism and other forms of religious harassment have become pervasive....An Air Force task force concluded that some students and staff at the school have the perception that the academy favors evangelical Christians and is intolerant of those who do not share their faith."

Will the New Crusaders arrive to liberate the Holy Land from the Muslim Infidels? Don't be surprised! (Annoying with subtitles, but well worth the watch)

Shabbat Shalom!

More thoughts in keeping with the theme of the previous two posts...
Excerpt from Rav Pinchas Winston's commentary on Parashat Tetzaveh:

...There is a lot of curiosity about Kabbalah today, what it is and what it can do to empower a person. However, the real point of Kabbalah is to provide a Jew with a glimpse of the hidden world of Creation, the inner mechanism that makes it all work, in order to better equip a person that he take responsibility for his actions, and to recognize the signs early on before things don’t go the way they ought to go. It is the true blueprint for Creation so we can see why and what can go wrong.

Armed with such knowledge, one’s vision of reality is different. It’s almost like putting on special glasses that provide x-ray vision. As a result, a person is able to get a glimpse of the hidden world of Amalek, and see what he is up to even before he brings his war to the actual battlefield. This is what gave Mordechai his ability to see what Haman was before he came into power, and the foreknowledge with how to deal with him, avoid Haman's plans to destroy him, and eventually do away with Haman himself.

This is because we are living in Amalek’s world only on the level of Pshat. Therefore, by ascending the mountain, Moshe Rabbeinu rose above the reality of Amalek, and worked to elevate the Jewish people. By holding his arms upward, the Jewish people were only victorious when their vision of reality became elevated to a higher spiritual plane, neutralizing the power of Amalek.

In this way, both Chanukah and Purim represent the same idea: victory over the enemy comes not from without, but from within. For, the process of going from Pshat to Remez, and then to Drush, and finally to Sod is the same as going from Nefesh to Ruach, and then to Neshamah, and finally to Chiyah. The deeper one penetrates Torah, the higher the level of soul they access until they become so spiritual, they move themselves out of the reach of Amalek completely.

Can the Erev Rav be "fixed"?

I regret that the nature of blogging prevents anything more than the briefest of treatments of this subject. My hope is that something here will spark your interest to learn more in-depth from the sources.

In response to the previous post, גילוי writes:

"...that is davka one of our hardest tasks in this last generation: fixing the Erev Rav...."

I completely disagree. I reject this entire line of thought. This is precisely what has brought upon us all the trials and troubles of 3,500 years.

...Moshe Rabbeinu... because of the "erev rav" came to make mistakes. (Yahel Ohr, commentary on Zohar 1:28: beginning with uMoshe b'gineihu.)
All the exile, the destruction of the Temple and all the troubles - it all results from Moshe Rabbeinu having accepted the `erev rav. (the Gaon on Tikkunei HaZohar 97, beginning v'aleihu.)
Avraham Avinu made this error with regard to Yishmael. What did Sara Imeinu do? She insisted that Yishmael must be separated from Yitzchak by being exiled from his father's home (and Hashem agreed). Yitzchak Avinu made this error concerning Eisav. What did Rivka Imeinu do? She insisted that Yaakov must be separated from Eisav and the result was that Yaakov had to endure exile from his home. (Also, Shomo HaMelekh repeated this mistake with his foreign wives.)

It is davka in a process of redemption in its time, which is exactly where we are at present, that we have no hope to rectify this klipa. Instead of unification, we need separation. And the faster we separate, the more quickly we will be redeemed. R. Hillel of Shiklov in the name of the GR"A paints an entirely different picture of what our relationship to the Erev Rav should be in these final days and hours of exile:
The general role of two Messiahs, the messiah son of Yosef and the messiah son of Dovid, throughout the generations is one of defense and war against the three leading husks - Eisav, Yishmael and Erev Rav... The `erev rav is our greatest foe, he is what separates the two Messiahs, The `erev rav husk operates only by deceit and indirectly. Therefore the war against the `erev rav is the most difficult and most bitter, and we must use all our remaining forces to win this war. Whoever is not engaged in actively fighting the `erev rav becomes an automatic partner to the husk of the `erev rav, and whoever this may be it would be better for him had he not been created. (Kol HaTor, chapter II, part II, section II)
Lot's story might have had a happier ending had he moved to Sodom and influenced all the Sodomites to become Bnei Noach, but instead he was fortunate to escape with his own life and two daughters. Disaster was just barely held back as he was urged to separate himself from Sodom so that he would not share in their destruction. Lot's wife was still too attached to the Sodomite reality. Although she merited to escape Sodom, when she glanced back, she in essence fell back into the vale of destruction, weighted as she was with desire for that life, and did not merit to ascend the mountain with her husband and daughters.

It is each individual's job to rectify himself, no one can do it on his behalf and no one can force him to do it. When it becomes clear that one belongs to this camp---to the Erev Rav--- we must immediately erect a barrier between us and warn others away from him. He is a danger and a destroyer. Only with true and complete teshuva can one be rectified.

In the comments of his post, גילוי writes:

"...these definitions [who constitute the Erev Rav] are not restricted to irreligious Jews alone, but extend to other "denominations" and political groupings."

I wonder if even you know how very truly you have spoken, as Erev Rav are to be found also among the goyim where they assimilated alongside the Israelites associated with the ten so-called “lost” tribes. We know that they were never lost to Hashem and the prophets foretold that they, too, would be regathered at the end of days.

There is one estimate that 200,000 former xians passed through the so-called "Messianic" movement and have converted to Judaism. A spiritual 'call' went out into the world in the year 5750 and everyone with the spiritual acuity to hear it responded. In addition to the Jewish neshamas held captive among the nations who heard, so did the Erev Rav who have always been attached to them.

The Jewish neshama comes humbly and submissively, requesting. The Erev Rav come haughtily and arrogantly, demanding. While the Jewish neshamas convert back into the family, these refuse and insist that they be "recognized" and "accepted" as they are. They intend to come to Eretz Yisrael and "reclaim" their "rightful heritage." They promote a new religion called Judeo-xianity. They use this symbol ...

representing Jew and xian coming together to form "One New Man" (the "Judeo-Xian?) observing the Torah, living in the Land, and accepting Yeshu as the "Mashiach."

Most unfortunately, many good Jews and others, maybe not so good, are joining with these people, whether in a misguided attempt to rectify them I cannot say, but it is playing with fire in a room full of gas fumes.

...there is a fourth kind: `and they have mingled (in Hebrew, Vayitarvu, related to the term Erev Rav) with the nations and learned from their deeds' - these are themselves Jews who adhered to the `erev rav and became like them...and this fourth kind is the most difficult of them all, and they are our brothers who have soured" - (Imre No`am, his commentary to B'rakhot 54)
This is as far as I can go with this subject for now. B'ezrat Hashem, I am working on a major project with regard to this, an expose of sorts, which will require its own website with many references and resources. I am available by email for any specific questions you may have and as the material becomes available online, I will make mention of it here.

It's late and there have been many interruptions. If anything is incomplete or unclear, please speak to me about it in the comments section below.

I have many other things I want to talk about here--another lurking danger which we may need to prepare for in the wake of the Master Terrorist's happy demise and a glimpse of Days to Come in the Tehillim---hopefully on motzaei Shabbat.

Preparing for Geula

While we have been in the process of redemption these last few years, many of us have come to view the State of Israel and all its institutions as vehicles for that redemption and therefore possessing inherent sanctity. I believe current events show this idea to be in error. It is the People, the Land and the Torah which are the vehicles for redemption. The State and it's institutions are the camouflage which prevents most of the world and the Sitra Achra from realizing this until it is too late to stop it. (See The Messianic Process by Rabbi Aryeh Carmell.)

Since until now, the process seems to be evolving naturally from one step to the next, my feeling is that most of the religious Zionist public, led by groups like Women-in-Green and Manhigut Yehudit, are erroneously expecting to reach the goal by this same route. I don't believe this is so and it is important to understand why not, so bear with me while I attempt to explain my thinking.

We appear to be well on the way to redemption in it's time, a scenario which precludes the complete rectification of the Erev Rav, in my opinion. Though it looks like we are all on the same path together, this is a necessary illusion. In fact, we are on parallel tracks. When we arrive at the end of the process, the final step will bring us into a new reality that will require a leap---an ascension, if you will and this is where the two paths diverge. The righteous and the faithful will arrive to the top of "Har Sinai" while those on the parallel path, those undeserving, who are attached to the klippot, will instead fall over a cliff, figuratively speaking.

The final step is not possible in the present reality or through the agency of any institution that belongs to this reality, so those who cling to it will prevent themselves from rising above it. This is the only guarantee we have that there will never be another Eigel Hazahav incident to mar the complete redemption. Put very simply, those who cannot get with the program doom themselves to be eliminated from it.

We have to search our minds, our hearts and our souls every minute of every day; examine our thoughts and intents, our words and actions, to know if we are attached to things which might weigh us down and prevent us from taking that leap---the final step UP.

(I hope גילוי will comment as to his understanding of the GR"A's position on the "last step" in Kol HaTor.)

Remembering Moshe Rabbeinu on 7 Adar

"Parashat Tesaveh is the only perashah since Moshe's birth that does not mention his name explicitly. Every misvah and command mentioned in the perashah, however, is initiated with the word "you," referring to Moshe. Apparently, Moshe is the prime focus of this perashah, although his name is not recorded. Why? The Sages tell us that the curse of a sadik, even if it is contingent upon specific conditions, takes effect despite the fact that those conditions are not met. When Moshe entreated Hashem on behalf of Klal Yisrael after they sinned with the Golden Calf, he said to Hashem, "If you do not forgive their sin, I beg You, erase my name from Your Book," a reference to the Torah. We may question why, of all the parashiot, Tesaveh is chosen to be the one from which Moshe's name is excluded?

The commentators offer various answers to this question. Some say that since Moshe's yahrzeit is on the seventh day of Adar, which always falls out during the week of Tesaveh, it is logical that this is the perashah from which Moshe's name is missing. This answer is enigmatic. One would think that specifically during the week in which Moshe passed away, his name would be remembered as much as possible. After all, what greater tribute is there to our great leader than remembering him on his yahrzeit?

Rav Elchanan Sorotzkin feels that the Torah's omission of Moshe's name specifically in Parashat Tesaveh, during his yahrzeit, speaks volumes about Moshe's greatness as a leader and as a Jew. Moshe was prepared to sacrifice more than just his physical life for the Jewish people; he was prepared to relinquish his spiritual life, his neshamah, for them. The Torah is called Torat Moshe, the Torah of Moshe. For what greater appreciation can one hope? Our Torah is immutable; it will always remain Torat Moshe. Yet, Moshe was ready to relinquish the ultimate spiritual pleasure, his name engraved for all eternity in the Torah. Moshe's love for his people was so overwhelming that he gave Hashem his incredible "ultimatum" despite the consequences. Is there any greater tribute to the father of all prophets, the quintessential leader of Klal Yisrael, than to leave his name out of the perashah that falls on his yahrzeit? In this manner, everyone will acknowledge the greatness of his deed. " (Shema Yisrael Torah Network)

Life in Israel is not all Doom & Gloom

What a difference a week(+) makes!

In the last ten days since the snowfall, we Yerushalmim have been enjoying a foretaste of spring. I carried my camera with me on a walk to the store the other day and took some shots of newly blossomed flowers, some fruit trees, and a pine heavily loaded with cones. (Squirrels love them in the States, but no squirrels in Israel.)

Since the weather report calls for an end to the balmy weather with a new winter storm approaching tonight, I thought I'd preserve a bit of it here and share it with you.

And in keeping with the spirit of this blog, I recorded the Tsiporim in and around the Tomer outside my window. The birds are simply crazy with happiness. They know they are privileged to be living in "The Palace of the King." Enjoy!

Mark My Words...

'IDF ready to expand activity'

Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi tells hundreds of senior IDF officers 'army is prepared to expand its activity in accordance with the (government's) decisions.' Southern Command chief: Gaza will soon reach boiling point....

This is all about cheshbonot. Judging by past remarks in the wake of flare-ups in the conflict, this is about waiting for a high body count attack (God forbid!) that they feel will allow them to hit back hard and not lose international support. It's a calculation based on what will the gentiles think?

You know what? It's doomed to failure. Mark my words. If they really do hit back at Gaza---hard---the next day, there will be an international force here. You see, the other side is making its cheshbonot, too. And they are pushing, pushing, pushing until we give them the excuse they need to justify their forceful intervention. It's almost like a weird game of chicken.

Lest anyone misread me. Don't think for a minute that I don't think we have to hit Gaza with everything we've got... and more, but as is obvious to anyone with half a brain cell, the optimal time for doing this without major adverse repercussions was... a long time ago.

Suddenly, everything is going to go terribly wrong for Olmert and his crew.

But keep the faith, people! Gam zu l'tova!!

First Bananas, Now It's Potatoes

It's a 'shmita' miracle!
Feb 7, 2008 21:34 Updated Feb 8, 2008 12:34

In what some potato farmers in the Negev are taking as a sign from God, the recent frost that ravaged produce across the nation selectively passed over some crops - as if guided, they say, by a divine hand.
Potatoes planted in the Negev before the beginning of the shmita (sabbatical) year, in accordance with the biblical prohibition against plowing, sowing and many other field chores, were spared the damages caused by sharp drops in temperature last week.

In contrast, potatoes that were planted during the shmita year - which began at nightfall on September 13, the first day of the Jewish year of 5768 - were decimated.

Farmers who planted during the shmita year relied on a contested halachic leniency called "heter mechira," or "permitted sale," under which Jewish-owned land is temporarily sold to a non-Jew for the duration of the shmita year. This "sale" abrogates the holiness of the land and exempts farmers from adhering to the laws proscribing field work.

Yechi Rab, a religious potato grower who was evacuated from Atzmona in the Gaza Strip as part of the Disengagement Plan, was one of those farmers hit by the frost.

"I'd say about 20 percent of our crop was destroyed by the frost. That's about 12,000 tons of potatoes," said Rab, who belongs to a collective of farmers, all from Atzmona, who were relocated in the Negev. "Farmers who planted before the shmita year did not sustain any damage."

Yerushalayim in the Crosshairs

Gam Zu l'Tova! Yes! Bring the battle to the gates of Yerushalayim. You know you can't "evacuate" 300,000 Jews from Yehuda v'Shomron. Yet, you are being enticed, pulled, even compelled to break yourselves on the Rock of Yerushalayim, the stone of stumbling that is Yerushalayim! Come. Come to your everlasting destruction in Yerushalayim.

...Rice was due to visit Israel and Ramallah before the end of the month.

"There are public meetings and there are secret ones," the PA official explained. "The main progress has been achieved during the secret talks, particularly on the issue of Jerusalem. Today we can say that Israel is prepared to withdraw from almost all the Arab neighborhoods and villages in Jerusalem. Israel is prepared to redivide Jerusalem and this is a positive development."

Abbas and Livni Say Jerusalem Being Negotiated, Shas Denies
( Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas insists that negotiations taking place between Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and former PA Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei (Abu Allah) are dealing with the status of Jerusalem. Livni confirmed the claim in a closed meeting with diplomats.

I Want to Scream!

I am sick to death of the sight and reports of more splattered flesh and blood-soaked streets, of more embittered lives and ruined futures. It makes me want to scream and never stop until the breath leaves my body forever.

Hashem sent us a savior and the majority rejected him and maligned him. Rav Meir David Kahane, ztz"l, Hy"d, had all the answers, had all the solutions, had the cure to what ails us. If we had only been able to understand it at the time, we could have bypassed the Oslo years, the Al-Aksa Intifada, the Quartet's Road Map, the Expulsion from Gaza, the threat to YoSh and Holy Yerushalayim, the dead and maimed and traumatized---all of it!! But, no. We insisted on our own way, the 'morally pure' way, the way of the 'civilized' nations of the west. Better we should sacrifice our children, our minds and our futures than to "sink to the level of our enemies." Poor foolish, misguided, disobedient children not pitied.

"Rise up, Hashem, confront him and bring him to his knees; rescue my soul from the wicked one, who is Your sword." (Tehillim 17:13)

Hashem empowers our enemies against us in order to punish, reprove and correct us. They are merely tools in His mighty hand, but what do we have here? A "sword"!? This is not the tool of correction. It is an implement of death and destruction that is turned against an enemy. Are we no longer children, then but enemies to Our Father in Heaven? Is our G-d making war upon us? Have we really sunk so far?

Fall on your face! Let tears stream down! Let your eyes puff up and your nose run and your throat choke on the tears that cannot stop. Tears of sorrow and regret for our arrogance, our willfulness, our apathy, our insensitivity; tears for all the pain and loss and irreversible destruction that we have caused and may yet result from our refusal to repent.

Hashem will not send another Meir David Kahane, though that is exactly what we need and exactly what is required to get the job of redemption done, until we are ready to break our will and bend it to His, or until He breaks us down Himself or until only the remnant who was always willing to submit themselves and follow are all that are left.

The Nature of Our War (Part 2)

We must never forget that we are fighting on every front. We are at war with Yishmael, with Eisav, with the Erev Rav and with Amalek---both within and without. No wonder we are faint!

Some short-sighted people are focused on the in-your-face, to-the-death struggle with Yishmael while Eisav tries an end-run around us. (Bet you never saw so many hyphenated words in one sentence! ;-)

It's time to speak a bit about Eisav/Edom---Western Civilization---most adequately represented by Am-reika whose major icon---Coca Cola---epitomizes it. It's a non-food masquerading as food, but with absolutely no nutritional value at all. It's known as...Empty Calories!

But what a pretty image it is!

That's what counts with Eisav. The outer appearance, not the inner substance, the shell, if you please.

The Stone Edition Commentary on Parashat Toldot reveals the following about Eisav's character:

"...He [Eisav] became adept at trapping his father by asking questions that would make him appear to be unusually pious. He would ask, for example, how tithes should be taken from salt and straw [although he knew full well that they were not subject to tithes]."

And things haven't changed much among his spiritual offspring.

This is a picture of a group of Hebrew Christians holding a Hachnasat Torah in Houston, Texas. Do they look Jewish? That's as far as their Judaism goes. They've got the look, the feel and the jargon down pat, but underneath, it's still the same old religion of Eisav---idolatrous. Hey! They don't call it "American Idol" for nothing!!

The trouble with these people is that they believe it is their God-ordained destiny to export their empty culture and vacuous values to the rest of the world with a special focus on Israel. On a soul-level, they surely realize that the only truth permeating their Olam Hasheker is to be found in the 'Judeo' part of their Judeo-Christian (sic) foundation. So now, in these final days of the present reality, like the klipot that they truly are, they are latching onto anything Jewish and holy and clinging to it for dear life.

The trouble is, it doesn't stop there. Ever hear the old adage, "Familiarity breeds contempt"? That's what is happening among the goyim who have become too familiar with Jews and things Jewish.

Few fundamentalist Christians from the Southern US ever had any dealings with Jews growing up, but then, in the last few decades, 'Jewish' became de rigueur and we shot to celebrity status. They were enchanted, couldn't get enough. But then came the morning after, the light of day shone too brightly and our flaws became all too obvious.

Once they'd found Artscroll and Soncino and discovered Shlomo and Rebbe Nachman; bought tallit with techelet, kippot, and shofarot, they looked in the mirror and then over at us and they couldn't tell the difference. They began to imagine that they could out-Jew us any day of the week and especially on Shabbat. They began to imagine a lot of other things, too--none of them good for the Jews, let me tell you!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so a video must be worth at least ten times that. Take a look at what has happened in the southern city of Arad in Israel and multiply it by every "believer" in the IDF, and every Aid Worker distributing clothes and food and furniture to the Russian and Ethiopian olim and every "Friend" of Israeli settlements, and every comforter of the Victim of Terror and Host to a Lone Soldier. Like Amalek, the incestuous offspring of Eisav and Yishmael, these are the ones they've identified as the weakest prey among us, straggling and struggling at our rear.

See what happens to Christian "love" when it is crossed.

The Nature of Our War (Part 1)

We hear it everywhere. We are in "a battle for hearts and minds." This is the true nature of our struggle. That's why the most common admonition is to "Wake up!" Every word, every event, every tragedy, every sorrow, every trouble comes from the hand of our Father in Heaven, Who is trying desperately to WAKE US UP! from our slumber, our illusions and delusions and make us face the Truth.

We are constantly under threat of losing land---another way of saying "losing ground." Everyone is telling us to give up this piece and be prepared to sacrifice the other piece for (no) peace. There is a message here. What are we supposed to take from it? Just as I've told you before and it bears repeating however many times it takes til it sinks in, if we don't drive 'them' out, they will drive us out. The way to stop losing gournd is to start taking ground, because there is no such thing as a status quo. It's a lie! You're either going forward or falling back, there is no in-between.

Tell this to yourself until you get it and start telling it everyone you know. It's the IDEA that we must get across. We already know that if a lie is told often enough, people will begin to believe it on a massive scale, how much more so when it's the TRUTH you are speaking!!

Messages from impure sources are hafukh. Read them like a mirror-image---backwards! Do just the opposite. It is absolutely critical that we get this across to all the brothers and sisters.

PRC: Residents of southern Israel should evacuate Published: 02.08.08, 11:29 / Israel News
A senior Popular Resistance Committees official, Abu Abir, claimed responsibility for the rocket barrages against southern Israel earlier in the day on behalf of his organization. Abu Abir told Ynet he urges the residents of Sderot and other southern communities to evacuate from their homes.

"What was up until now is nothing compared to what will be. We call on them to evacuate for their safety and the safety of their children," he said. (Ali Waked)

"The Nation is with you Jonathan"

By Rav Shlomo Aviner
Makor Rishon - February 8, 2008
(Translated to English by J4JP)

We must repent for the terrible sin of ignoring our brother, Jonathan Pollard. Even though we have done a lot and tried very hard, all to no avail, that does not mean that this is a lost cause. All it means is that we have to try harder and do more.

Jonathan Pollard has been languishing in prison for 23 years! He is there because he sacrificed himself for us. When he learned that the Nation which dwells in Zion was in danger, he did not take his own personal life into account, but rushed to save us. Important Jews in America, masters of dual loyalty, pour out their resentment upon him for having the audacity to embarrass them. Pollard responds: "Did you expect me to remain silent and to repeat the terrible sin we committed during the holocaust when our brothers were being murdered and we thought only of ourselves? Had I remained silent and failed to try to save my brothers, I would have been guilty of repeating the same monstrous sin."

Just as Pollard sacrificed himself for us and is paying dearly; it is now up to us to sacrifice ourselves for him.

There are notable people in our country who very much appreciate Jonathan but who claim that we have more important problems - economic issues, national security issues - and we need American assistance with our military needs, so we should not annoy them and certainly should not press them. In short Jonathan may be worthy, but other things are more worthwhile.

This is not right! Whoever forgets Jonathan Pollard understands nothing about what it means to be a sovereign State; what it means to be a nation; nor the meaning of the return to Zion and the building of the Land. Such a person is ignorant of the fact that there are cases where a single sin outweighs millions of mitzvahs, and cases where a single mitzvah outweighs millions of sins. (The Rambam - Hilchot Tshuva 3:2). To save one man, who himself savedhundreds of thousands of people or more, including those now reading these lines, is to save an entire nation.

Jonathan Pollard is not a private person. He is our business. Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh L'Zeh. All of Israel are responsible for each other.

If we had the power to do so, we ought to arm ourselves and go to America to release him. This is how Avraham Avinu acted when he learned that our brother Lot was taken captive - even though Lot was no saint. Avraham enlisted all of his men and went to war against against 4 Kings. This is the way Moshe Rabbeinu acted. When the King of Arad came and took a captive from us (Bamidbar 21:1) - a single handmaiden (Rashi), and not a national hero like Jonathan - Moshe Rabbeinu went to war to release her. David HaMelech also acted in this way to free his wives who were held captive in Tzaklag. Avraham, David and Moshe. Their intials (Aleph, Dalet, Mem) spell the word ADAM (person or human being). Whoever does not understand this, is not a human being. Rather, such a person is politician in the worst sense of the word, taking care of fleeting interests of the moment, while forgetting that entire empires have crumbled and fell as a result of their failure to act in a morally appropriate manner.

At the moment, it is not on the agenda to enlist an army to free Jonathan, but what ought to be on the agenda is to say to the Americans: "As long as Pollard is still there, we will have nothing to do with you. We will not speak with you. For us, you do not exist."

This is what David HaMelech did, after a difficult civil war of Jew against Jew. Wisdom finally prevailed and the nation appointed one King over all of us for the first time. However, this one King responded, "Michal, my wife! If Michal, my wife, is in captivity, there is nothing to talk to me about!" Of course, they said to him: "Does the fate of the entire nation hang in the balance, The Jewish People, Jewish Sovereignty, and the State of Israel- because of the fate of one woman?" Yes! Because if David were capable of forgetting his wife, Michal, he would not be worthy of being King. He would not be worthy of being considered a human being.

Whoever forgets Jonathan Pollard is not a human being. Our failure to free Jonathan is undermining the moral foundations of our country.

Therefore we do not beg and plead before the Americans; we demand. We are not beggars. We are a sovereign State, and an important country. This is not the first time we have told the Americans, "No!" In our days, they threatened our Prime Minister, Mrs .Golda Meir, "If you do not support the Rogers Plan and give up chunks of the Land of Israel, we will not supply you with weapons to defend yourself." She replied, "Nichyeh v'nireh! - We will live, and we will see!" This is national strength!

We do not beg. We demand and we inform: "Jonathan is ours; give him back to us. You don't care about him; you threw him into a pit. We do care about him. He is our brother. We want him home to be a leader and minister in Israel."

We must declare, just as our Nation did in days of old when they redeemed Jonathan: "Shall Jonathan who has wrought this great salvation in Israel die?... Heaven forbid! Not a hair on his head shall be harmed!" (Samuel I:14:45).

Let us be strong and be strengthened; the Nation is with you Jonathan!
